Nick Kenny could be a very handy front rower to add to the squad. he obviously wasn’t going to get much of a go up at the broncs with the likes of petero, hannant, mcguire and anderson looking to be getting game time and the minutes.
any thoughts on whether we should take a look at him
-
Gee, it’s a pretty poor act by the Broncos to release him now if this is the case, most clubs would have finalised their playing roster for 2012 by now and just about every club would be right on the limit for the salary cap as well.
I haven’t seen a press release from the Bronco’s but I would expect all the usual reasons for releasing him and the key signature of Petero would head the list, would be a good acquisition if the Broncos had to pay part of his salary!, remember this is how we ended up with Todd Payten nearly a decade ago and he turned out to be a fairly handy signature, didn’t he!. -
I think Nick will stay at the Broncos in an off-field role.

I think you’re right Watto….

Let’s get this right he has RETIRED

Why when everytime a player leaves a club do we start a thread saying what are peoples thought if Player A comes to Tigers? -
The only thing I can think of is it’s an excuse to start a thread, especially by people who normally dont start threads.

Yep. And it would not surprise me if he was re-activated on the cheap at some point to cover for any rep losses. The Broncos are the kings of that sort of thing!

I’m in two minds on this one. On one hand it’s a discussion forum so there’s no harm in people shooting the breeze on whether we should sign players. It gets a bit silly when people suggest high profile players who we’ve got zero chance of signing.
I would suggest that a small amount of research could stop threads like this. If you know he’s being “released” surely you can find out he is actually retiring…
Anyway this thread will no doubt have a padlock on it soon… :dead

I think the off season has a lot to blame also…

Thats exactly what I thought when I read the story, they will bring him in on match payments if injuries hit or if they are struggling during the rep season.
-
Bit harsh to the OP, it’s not like we have a limited number of threads to post on.
As for the Broncos being the kings of registering players out of retirement, we did the same with Skando….twice!

Now I know that Wikipedia is hardly the most solid source of information, but it is noted on his profile there that he has retired to “focus on his physiotherapy career.”
That’s obviously the off field role you’re referring to Watto?
-
He has been in their system for years. I think he even played for the Toowoomaba Clydesdales with Berrick Barnes and Neville Costigan when they where the feeder team for the Broncos Kids. Nick has had a rough history with injuries…
Over the last few years, he has been doing some physio work for the 20’s, so I’d presume he will continue within that role on an official capacity.

Watto’s right he has been with them for years and he has had some shocking injuries
Supposedly is one of the nicest blokes going around
