WESTS TIGERS WIN ‘BEST MEDIA EVENT’ AWARD
5/12/2011 3:41:04 PMThe NRL has presented Wests Tigers with a 2011 Club Marketing Award for ‘outstanding performance on Best Media Event’ for its successful promotion with golf legend Tiger Woods.
Woods was in Sydney last month for the Australian Open at The Lakes Golf Course but managed to take part in a Wests Tigers promotion with NSW Premier and proud Wests Tigers Member Barry O’Farrell.
Wests Tigers winger Lote Tuqiri joined the pair at Darling Island and along with O’Farrell, presented arguably the world’s greatest ever golfer with a Wests Tigers jersey featuring ‘Tiger 1’ on the back.
O’Farrell presented Woods with his Ultimate Gold Wests Tigers Membership before the group posed for media photos with the ‘Tiger 1’ jersey, giving Wests Tigers incredible brand exposure with one of the superstars of world sport.
The idea of presenting Woods with a jersey was the brainchild of Wests Tigers Media and Communications Officer Wayne Cousins. Wests Tigers like to thank Barry O’Farrell for all his work in making this opportunity possible.
Wests Tigers were the only NRL Club to receive an award for best media event at the inaugural NRL Marketing awards.
