Looking at his efforts this year I reckon he has reason to be pleased with himself.
Not only has he had to adjust from Fijian life to that of a large metropolis, he has done it without any preseason training.
He has had, in my opinion, a very good season first up.
He has scored his share of tries and most pleasing he ran with determination, speed and power.
His defence has been solid and he shows no fear.
People talk about Grant being a big show next year, for me it is Marika !.
I reckon given a solid off season, a good start to the year and an opportunity I reckon he could be a chance of a top grade debut.
People talk up Grants chances in 2012 but for me Marika, given a chance will take it and be on his way to taking over Taniela Tuiaki’s mantle as the Wests Tigers crowd pleaser. !!!

You may well be spot on with your predictions.
It is great though to look at our roster and see so many possibilities and know any of them could be in for a stellar season

I don’t know how long we got him signed up for,
But we have to make sure we hang on to this kid, he could easily be the next Uate. The way he runs the ball back at the line, he puts some 1st graders to shame. His next six months will be very interesting to see how he comes on.

I thought the Tigers had him signed to the end of 2013 with a view to having him play FG if he develops well.

I would have thought every NYC player is signed with that intent.

Touche.
He looks exciting, that’s for sure - My guess would be they would put him on the wing in 2013 - after Lote finishes up this year for us, or if Lotel gets injured again - he’d get a debut.
I’m glad one of our prospective wingers seems to be chomping at the bit to play FG.

His signing has certainly generated a lot of talk over in Fiji. When I was over there in August all the league guys I spoke to were very much aware of him and interested in his progress. The local comps are chockers with young guys with great league physiques and a hunger to make it in the NRL.

I think a bit of a turning point for Marika was the game against Melbourne last year where he made a break and looked to set up Tedesco on the inside rather than try and beat the fullback. I dont think I had ever seen him pass the ball before that. He wants to learn and has improved both his league and English .
He runs the ball back increadibly hard unfortunatly injury in the last few games of the year took there toll.He just completed the NYC rookie camp which can only help him further in his development.
-
His defensive reads IMO are his down fall ( was same with Uate)
I beleive he will play FG in 13’

how has his off season training for 2012 been going?

how has his off season training for 2012 been going?
From all reports he is training well, very quietly spoken though. Along with Grant and Lawrence, hed be in the top 3 quickest players at the club over 100 metres.

Good to hear that lawrence hasn’t lost his speed despite the hamstring and hip injuries.
-
how has his off season training for 2012 been going?
Unfortunately Marika is not doing to much besides putting on plenty of weight as he is in rehab, which involves doing weights in both the morning and afternoon sessions.
Hopefully he will be out there on the field soon practicing that great Fijian sidestep of his.

Very different to what Willow said

Any idea what sort of weight he is sitting on at the moment?
