Hey guys, don’t mind a bit of a play around on the ps3 on the weekends, but I was wondering if anyone knew of a new rugby league game coming out any time soon, or if it’s even being looked at for production? The last one was pretty poor, so I was hoping they may have some better game producers for an upcoming release if there is one at all. Cheers.

To my knowledge, NZ Tiger use to be involved with Sidhu entertainment, the company that produced the official NRL games. Not sure if he still posts here, but he will be able to tell you.

As for the 3rd game, I bought a wii especially for it and only played it twice. The next one would have to have some advanced game play for me to want to buy it. If only EA sports got the rights or saw the value in producing a NRL game.

The next best thing is the Wallabies Rugby Challenge game on PS3, its made by the same mob as the rugby league franchises im pretty sure. It looks like fifa quality compared to the rugby league games, admittedly it the bar wasn’t set all that high…

Mate, if EA was involved I’d have to take a week off to play it, their quality is unreal for sports games.

Surely there were be enough demand for it and financially the game would do pretty well in Aus.

A mate of mine told me he played the new AFL game and said it was actually pretty good quality for a crap sport and way better then the latest NRL Live.

Agreed with all posted here. My young blokes hardly play the NRL game on the PS3 anymore. Quality compared to other sports games is very low (The commentary, for example, in the new FIFA 12 soccer game is incredible).

My 13 year old says that the difficulty levels in the NRL game are shoddy. On the easy level, you rack up scores like 80 nil, but when you move up one difficulty level you can barely get the ball over the line. Not sure if others have found this?

Not only that, but the other teams brush aside tackles with ease.

in one of the older versions of the game I remember distinctly scoring 5 tries with Bryce gibbs, so I notched the skill up - only to have Darren Lockyer carry Mark O’neill, Ben Galea and Todd payten over the line to score a try - from 10 metres out…. 👿

That and Shane Webcke or Mark O’meley would make a bust and not even Benji could run them down on the harder settings.

                      I WISH.

I’m too good @ Rugby League Live.

RL1, 2 and Live are all so very similar - so I’ve pretty much played the same game since 03.

I can beat the computer, on hard…. most of the time.
Game is so easy to beat.

It is pretty easy ay Demps, I really hate on RL Live how it’s saved as for example - Marshall’s preferred position is half - therefore if you play him at 5/8, he doesn’t play as well. Lawrence is a right winger as well. Things like that. They could have done way better research or just not have put that in the game as It makes team mods hard to select and is obviously not the correct position that those players play in.

                          Rugby League games won’t win,
RL 1&2 where both made buy Sidhe, company in New Zealand… both the games where average… sidhe claimed that they didn’t have the money to make it on next gen consoles … Only to make a rugby game which has graphics as good as an ea sports title and gameplay to follow. They allow a Melbourne based companey to make the next rugby league game which is terrible when compared to other sport games on consoles nower days … The companey then makes a AFL game thats more indepth, better graphics and gameplay animation .
To me it just seems no ones intrested in making a in depth league game. It sucks

All the RL games released on PS2/3 & xBox 360 all had average graphics and poor integration of commentary. Unfortunately the engine that drove the player abilities was also a little flawed (as some had mentioned a back could skip past/shake off 3 forwards and score a try on the difficult level.)

The concept of players being weaker out of position on RL Live was a great concept but the rest of the stark contrast in levels of difficulty made it virtually unplayable.

My favourite RL game to date is still ARL '96 football on the Sega Mega Drive by EA Sports, even though it wasn’t licensed. You could even tackle the ref and chuck a “Meninga” if you run into the uprights 😆

I wish EA would stump the cash for another RL game… It would sell like hot cakes here.

I’d say there’ll be a new rugby league game next at around September/October next year for the world cup.
I’ve just started playing RL3 again, got all the teams updated to 2012
