@fred all that this points out is that McDonnell got sacked by 2 clubs in about 3 years.
McDonnell needs to be given a brief as to the type of players we’re looking for in each position and find players that match. His personal tastes should be largely irrelevant.
Spot on, and this is already happening. Hopefully the strategy is to target junior reps with strong work ethic.
The signing of James Tamou will be instrumental in the continuing development of Tuki. The recent signings of more NZ juniors will also be beneficial. Let’s hope for no disrupted Jersey Flegg or NSW Cup this year.
An astute signing by the club as hooker depth at the club is at a dire low.
Jake should have been the starting hooker for QLD U18 side in 2018 but was left out by the ‘Broncos’ appointed dud coach.
He should relish a new environment, and let’s hope that Farah can help out as a mentor.
Looks like Reece has grown again.

Both Jake and Reece feature prominently in the highlights.

So I now wonder if Payten will make it through this season. The play of the Cowboys and the talk of the coach makes it seem absolutely toxic.
Yes, hasn’t gone well at all it seems. Wonder if and when the Cowboys get in contact with Kristian Woolf.
Finally Hoffman get’s a chance at centre.

Hopefully the week off will allow some of the injured players a chance to recover.

You are on the money Balmain boy. People need to realise that playing grade, doesn’t come down to ability only. It’s a mixture of deals made with managers and people like Hartigan and Maguire, coaches favourites, you know the bloke who screams the loudest at training, runs around high fiving everyone, wants to be everyone’s best friend, since the dawn of time, coaches have had there favourite little crawlers, who get given umpteenth chances over other guys who get once chance and make one mistake and are never seen again. It’s political as hell, young Stapleton that got injured, I hope he’s ok by the way , he got dropped by chops two years ago because he was a god awful footballer, his old man gets on the board tips in a bit of cash and low and behold he’s training with first grade on a train and trial.Aj kepoa not up to top grade standard but he will keep getting chances due hartigan. Although that being said , it Looks like we got a few goodens in Laurie , Simpkin and Simpkins, but in my opinion we have some duds…cini, kepoa, hoffman( he’s the most over rated of the lot, absolutely blessed this bloke), Fitzgibbon seen him in two trials looks way over hyped to me, madden wouldn’t have resigned him.
WOW, a tad harsh. Wasn’t the best junior in Qld but made great strides as he grew into his body to rep Qld U18. Still developing and could end up in the back row. Coming back from a serious injury that set back his pre-season. Now being played out of position on the wing.
Hopefully being competitive for the full 80 & not playing any injured players would be handy.
Still doesn’t look fit and lacks confidence. Not up to playing the 80. Needs help from Mbye or Simpkin.
