RE: Ivan Cleary
@diedpretty How can they write that the lady was paid $50k to have an abortion in the papers? I remember reading that at the time too. Is there proof? I don’t doubt that the scum Panthers did pay her, but that is an absolutely outrageous thing to say and surely they could be sued by the lady for squillions for writing that.
And more importantly, why didn’t the NRL Integrity Commission investgate that? Paying a woman to have an abortion to cover up a scandal has to be one or the lowest things imaginable, and I am disappointed that there wasn’t a public outcry about it.
Doesn’t society care about this? Are women still seen as that much of a lesser being?
Wow just wow . I think you all need to remember these guys are footy players not elected officials running the country and the way they breathe is not a scandal.
For the record , the NRL at the time RIGHTLY said they were not getting involved as was a PRIVATE matter between Cartwright and woman
There was no scandal , was a consensual act . As what happens in these scenarios , both parties may want a abortion to occur or only one party. For whatever reason she allegedly got paid as per media reports.
As for the lowest act imaginable, I heard that a rooster player squeezes the fruit too hard at the local supermarket and puts them back in the pile and then selects another piece. I’m thinking 4 match ban and $50k fine
RE: Cooper Cronk
Cap needs to be scrapped and clubs can compete in transparent and equal manner
The cap allows certain clubs to spend more than others who cannot spend money on players in the MANNER that certain clubs can make payments
From coaching gigs , benefits from sponsors , ability to sign older players on long term contracts then ‘retire ‘ them, TPA which I can’t see how any other than maybe one or two in whole game are true tpa’s without club involvement
Rather know a club is going crap spending x amount compared to another club spending Y, then this attempt to project both clubs spending x
RE: Home Ground situation needs to change
I think the the club should just abandon the Campbelltown / MacArthur region all together .
- They do not seem to have engaged the community as a merged club
- they are building COE in concord which says everything about direction of club
- ownership of the club is solely from the inner west being both west’s Ashfield and tigers
- the players have never bought into Campbelltown being home and constantly talk up LO as spiritual home
- bankwest and anz are relatively close to LO compared to CSS, which shows club has never been serious about MacArthur area
- when was the last time or how often have marque games been played at CSS then compare that to LO
the club had its opportunity to engage with the area and didn’t!! Whether it’s the better region or smarter to be there is irrelevant , they have shown contempt for area by actions . They should just settle full time at ANZ
RE: Wests Tigers keen to take Matt Moylan off Cronulla’s books
@Tigerlily it wont be a swap with the sharks, they will release Moylan , pay portion of his massive salary and they will officially sign ramien.
tigers will be able to use the money by releasing matto to sign Moylan
Hence why this signing will start the off season transfer market with those 2 being released
RE: Confirmed: Matterson released from Wests Tigers.
Cash is unacceptable imo. It was ok in the Cleary situation because it was outside the cap and enabled us to get Maguire. In this instance, cash is useless. Its a player swap or nothing.
But is a player swap realistic. Tigers are disadvantaged as they have player wanting out compared to a club looking to pick up an unexpected quality signing.
A top tier or middle tier club won’t let go of talent they want (also that player would need to want to join tigers and wantto go to a clunperforming worse then current , at best they would join for overs only)
realistically only clubs that would entertain swap would be bottom of the table club like titans. Again they would only release player of quality if off contract in 21 ie arrow, however he would demand huge bucks and can he be fitted in the cap
RE: Confirmed: Matterson released from Wests Tigers.
@Strongee the NRL are a joke , juniors would suffer much more , they are not experts in developing junior talent or identifying . The politics that they would have selecting players etc would be higher than any small time 2 bit organisation. Look at the perceived bias at Nrl level.
also this is the same organisation who has made it harder for clubs to bring in juniors and develop them .
The nyc was poor , removal of 2nd grade and 3rd grade comps has affected player depth and development and the biggest stuff up is …the mandatory top 30 squads
imagine the titans , they are forced to play the duds they had in their top 30 , but could have used 2nd half of the year to blood a whole bunch of juniors fro, their system and identify talent , instead forced to use the top 30 duds who have no real pressure to perform
RE: Confirmed: Matulino to hang up boots after career ending knee injury.
@2005magic don’t see how doing a medical or not applies in this situation , he played basically 38 games straight after he signed
Then if you trying to insuiuate that he was playing injured, then the bigger issue is how was he allowed to play so many games by 2 coaches
RE: Great article re Roosters Salary Cap
And what is worse whilst in recent years , eels , manly , sharks, tigers have been caught for “Cheating the cap” during those years they breached they still would have spent less on their squads then the likes of roosters and broncos.
The current rules only allow for a few clubs to “take advantage” of the grey areas.
As for TPA they are all club sourced , so everyone one in the game is a root , which was evidenced by the Moylan and Maloney swap
