Harry would be able to get a lot more money at other clubs compared to WT if he doesn’t stay at Melbourne. Wouldn’t surprise me if he went to titans

Titans wouldn’t have the cap - more likely Brisbane. Canterbury would have the money but i don’t think he would go there.

They’ve still got money. They’ve signed some big names but they’ve also released quite a few guys who were on big money, Cartwright being the latest. Just like us they’ve got a heap of duds on huge money and they’re slowly getting rid of them

Cartwright was quoted by several different media organisations as being on $450K

They also released Shannon boyd as well along with a few others. They’ve got some cash left

They signed Tino from the storm and Ese Ese not bottom dollar players either, Brimson got an upgrade, re-signed Proctor, Sami, Jolliffe, Don and signed Thompson, plus Wallace is on big dollars as well

Losing Cartwright, Boyd, Arrow, James, Peats who are all on big money plus a couple other cheaper guys are on the way out. I don’t think they’ve got millions sitting around but they’ll have enough to offer Smith/Grant a decent contract for next season which will get bigger in 2022.

They’ve lost those guys but signed Fifita, Tino, Esese, Fotuakia. That’s over 2.5 million on 3 props and a back rower.

Throw in Taylor on a million, upgrading Sami and a few others and they dont really have much money left as they’ve already spent it.

It’s sad when other clubs are giving their best juniors a taste of first grade to wet their appetite and prepare them for next season and we’re still holding onto the past. Team selections this past month have been a joke. We’re so scared to give our young players a shot for some reason. The only club in the nrl to be so hesitant

It’s interesting, there’s not much difference between Talau and Schuster. Both have similar builds and skillsets.

We immediately took it to turn Talau into a wing/centre whereas Manly have left Schuster in the halves. I don’t see Schuster as a long term 5/8 though

A lot of dribble in that. Yes we should be bigger and more successful than we are. But a nothing article, with nothing Ramy hasn’t said before. Jack being clueless doesn’t aid his credibility.

We need to focus on developing quality juniors so we have so many that we can’t fit them all in, but cherry pick the ones we think are best prospects. Like the Panthers do.

Pascoe has put in place a system of people who can look after the footy side of things, and we seem to be targeting good young players and offloading old plodders. He shouldn’t have anything to do and he doesn’t have much to do other than rubber stamping what the experts say. if you employ the right people below you it makes your job a whole lot easier when you can delegate with confidence.

We can’t do anything about Cleary’s contract mess. The fact is we let him go too cheaply. That’s my biggest criticism of Pascoe - when push comes to shove he rolls over. When other clubs have wanted Moses, Matto, Taupau, Paseka, Austin, Cleary we just let them go with nothing in return so they can be happy. Letting cleary go for 500k when he stuffed our cap by 2 million bucks for 3 years is very poor business. We should have tied the contract of someone like reynolds to cleary saying pay us 500k and take reynolds/mbye at full contract value and then you can coach your precious little son. Take it or leave it.

Wouldn’t pay any attention to what Webster wrote. It’s just nonsensical guesswork based on misunderstanings.

If the storm have said a loan will do then i’m sure a deal can and will be made. Webster makes it sound like it’s Nof or the deal is off, which is far from the case from those seemingly in the know.

I read some where that there will be a bit of movement in the off-season as 4-5 clubs have spent all of 2021 cap but because it’s being reduced by 10% some teams will have to release players to get under the cap

No. If the cap is reduced then all salaries will get reduced by the same %

How can that occur legally of contracts are signed/executed? Or are you referring to salaries paid to officials?

As was done for this season all players will need to take a paycut for next season. Revenues are down all over the place. I guess they don’t want these talks interfering with the current season but delaying them til the end of the season makes recruitment untenable. The players union should be already all over this, and willing to take a certain level of a cut. With so many people losing their jobs, operating on reduced hours etc they can’t complain about a 10% pay decrease for playing sport.

The NRL is already cutting 25% of it’s employees. The players will have to do what’s fair. The public certainly won’t sympathise with some bonehead footy player on 500k unwilling to work for 450k to help keep others in their jobs.

He’d likely need scans and a review by a specialist. No point guessing what the injury is, best to wait until it’s confirmed. Some injuries are easier for physios to deduce. A monday announcement is fine.

Staines re-injured his hamstring already. Only young and they might fix it up but having a lot of issues with it already, might make him put his asking price down a little.

A certain fullback running around for the Storm had big problems with his hamstrings while at the WT. With the right rehab he has transformed himself into one of the best fullbacks in the game right now. Staines has youth on his side and can certainly get stronger over the next couple of years. Just needs the right rehab and strength program.

Our center of excellence will fix that 🙂

No, it won’t. Equipment is only part of the solution. You’ve got to have smart trainers and conditioners that can devise management plans to suit a player’s strengths and weaknesses and develop the players to reach their peak physical condition.

Do we have such trainers currently? I doubt it. We largely look very unfit.

Disagree with that.

We’re either unfit or completely disorganised and disinterested in defending. We have the worst linespeed in the comp. By a long way. Why do we constantly stand still and let attackers charge into us? Even people who’ve never watched league before have asked me why tigers players don’t push up to tackle opponents earlier, like every other team does most of the time?

Our pack gets destroyed by most teams. Why? Aggression and linespeed. We lack aggression in both attack and defence. Linespeed doesn’t take anything other than fitness. It’s running. While of course no team can play at full intensity 100% of the time, every team is able to maintain their energy for much longer periods than we can. Why is that?

I would really like to see this in 21

  1. New fullback signing/possibly Staines
    2.Nofa
    3.Kepaoa
    4.Douehi
    5.Addo-Carr

Really think the centres would both kill it and have class outside them

Man JAC made nofo look really really slow.

He is slow.
