Jennings probably stays for depth as not on a huge contract
I also assumed that Jennings was not on a huge contract; however, Balmain Boy suggested to me on another thread (some time ago) that Jennings is on good coin (+ $400k from memory). When I read BB assertion, it shook my confidence in Madge’s judgement (if BB’s mail is correct).
You’ve got to remember he was they comps leading try scorer the year before. You don’t just sign them for peanuts. For a player of decently size and speed who cam score a try this is what you should be paying for your starting wingers. Then they have to deliver.
Dogs paying 650k for the Cotric is overs
if you can keep him for 300k or 350k then maybe worth it just as depth if injuries hit. I wouldnt keep him for 400k. Not alot of depth or optiond out there really this year
No, your backup outside backs should be on 200k or less. Like Thompson. That’s how you build a squad within a cap. Have stars on big coin and good cheap youngsters as their replacements, or journeymen who don’t expect to start like a Goodwin.
If Harry signs with us it has nothing to do with the loan whatsoever. His contract with the storm has this clause re Cam. The clause isn’t part of the loan deal, and the clause would allow him to terminate his contract and find employment elsewhere. It is completely separate to the loan. The loan merely gives us a better chance of signing him if the clause does get activated as he’s familiar with the club, it’s coaches and players.
What she said was extremely stupid. The reaction inciting violence and threats was equally stupid.
Josh is trying to calm the waters. Good on him.
How is it ‘extremely’ stupid CB? I’ll guarantee that if Fatty had said it everyone would be having laugh.
Not a chance. There’s a reason he’s unemployed. As is Sam Newman from the Afl. Dinosaurs of the past. Only reason Eddie McGuire is still around is he’s well connected
He defends her but doesn’t clarify why her racist comments should be tolerated. Because she promotes the sport and sometimes helps players?
She said the words. She admitted it. Case closed.
Don’t really like Erin too, but why didn’t Shane Shackleton and Beau Ryan cop anywhere near this backlash when they made jokes about Pacific Islanders on channel 9…
What she said was wrong and she didn’t necessarily think much about what she said before she said it which isn’t an excuse, however she does not deserve to receive such social abuse towards not only herself but her young child where she feels like it’s unsafe to walk outside
If you feel like that’s warranted then I’d question ones mindset and morals - not a dig at you or anything just stating this to anyone who agrees with the treatment she’s getting over it
I also don’t think Fonua-Blake has the ability to shame anyone on there actions or mistakes - isn’t this the bloke who bashed his wife then referred to a ref as disabled and retarded on two seperate occasions, bit hypocritical if you ask me to shame someone on a genuine mistake when you’re that man…
Josh, much respect to you and your family for raising a gentleman like yourself it takes a real man to speak out on a situation like this in the manner you did - excellent role model on and off the field, hopefully a future Wests Tigers captain to come!
Is she receiving legitimate death threats though? People calling her or leaving notes under her front door threatening her? Doubtful. A couple of social media warriors doesn’t equate to death threats. I admit I’ve got no specific idea what’s happening though.
Perhaps racist is a term a touch too strong. But there’s no denying she’s a highly insensitive, brain dead moron.
Personally I don’t like her at all. She repulses me, doesn’t mean she can’t still be generous or have some nice qualities. And no she certainly deserves to feel safe with her family. No problems with Josh standing up against that. He is a leader and I rate him highly. Her comments don’t warrant that kind of abuse.
Last night showed Brooks isn’t going to be starting again for a while. Comes off the bench and has a shocker. 3 errors in 10 mins. His kicking game was still awful. Having the kick charged down showed he’s learnt nothing. Failing miserably with his attempt to spread the ball with an atrocious pass to the laces. Errors that neither benji or Walters made.
As a bench utility Reynolds offers a lot more. In 2 weeks i doubt Brooks is still on the bench.
Not a signing for us … but down here in the Nations Capital - Canberra … I’m hearing a lot of noise that Billy Walters will be released by us to the Raiders next week for the rest of the season to play hooker / utility role for them … ?? I hope this isn’t true, why would we help those bludgers … !!
They’d have to offer us one hell of a player in return to make this worth our while.
The reason they couldn’t hold onto Matterson and force eels to release Stefano was Matterson was leaving the club either way - if they kept him after November they would’ve had to start paying his contract which would’ve come out of our cap and it would’ve been cheaper for eels.
Eels knew that so they denied the Stefano release and waited for Matterson. I’d much prefer it this way compared to having to pay Matterson to play for eels.
What are you on about - Matterson was signed until the end of 2021- he wasn’t going anywhere without a release. We wouldn’t of paid parra a cent. We would have been paying a disgruntled sook to sit out the season if he refused to play - nothing more. So he would have been a good bargaining chip if we hadn’t been so keen to release him.
There’s no way the club could’ve kept him his position was untenable. Keep him in reserve grade and you’re paying his contract to do nothing but upset the playing group.
The club had no choice but to release him, and they didn’t want to pay him to play at another club so they let him go
The original post was about why didn’t we keep him a few months longer to force Parras hand in releasing Stefano. Someone posted that he was going anyway and that we would have been paying parra for him to play if we didn’t release him. Thats what my post is about - nothing about the untenable situation - i couldn’t give a rats that we released him - however we played it really badly.
That’s what I said, and it’s true. As soon as it’s past November you start paying a players contract. If we kept him after November we would have to start paying him when he would get a release either way and it would come out of our cap. That’s why he got released at that time.
The club tried getting a player swap from clubs but clubs knew they could wait and he would get a release anyway. Club was in a crap position, lose-lose really and we can thank Matto for that.
IMO, your view on this is weak, as was Pascoe’s stance. In the end we could have paid Matto a couple of weeks salary but ended up with a great player in exchange. Do i like the idea of paying Matto in 2020? No. Would I be ok to pay him 20-30k if we got Stefano (10k cheaper) in immeditate exchange ? Hell yes!
Both clubs best interests would be served. Instead only Parra wins.
Our club has lacked leadership on and off the field, and this allows stronger clubs to bully us. And keep on bullying us. Because we keep on rolling over. This needs to stop if we’re ever going to be taken seriously at this club.
