"He is entitled to his money, but now that the whole “great clubman” myth has been exposed’

      Why has he been exposed…

Because he doesn’t want to move on to England (who would)?
Because he wants the money he is entitles to?
Because he is ready to play any time Madge picks him?
Because he will play any position the clubs wants him to play?

Think you are being a tad harsh on him myself.

Nup…because he clearly isnt wanted by the club, but puts his own financial needs above that.
We will probably be his last paycheck,so most wld do the same…but at the end of the day its still all about him

The one answer to that is - he has a contract.

Everyone jumps up and down because of the Tanker and Sooky Boy not wanting to honour their contracts.
However you jump up and down because Reynolds wants to honour his.

Im just contesting the ridiculous concept of Reynolds being a “clubman”,because hes clearly unwanted and decides to stick by his contract which hes legally entitled to do.His other behaviour is incidental, tho again not consistent with “clubman” concept
And because hes unemplyable most wld do the same
      He won the lottery…well,Ivans lottery
But hes no clubman…whatever definition you decide

Well he’s had about the most challenging 3 years in footy career you can have, a few years back he plays in the 2014 GF, plays one origin series and wins it, from there he gets shuffled on from Belmorewhere he had a very unique respect amongst fans and players alike.
Never said a bad word about their club from memory.
He’s signed by us and since he has joined us he been in and out of physical rehab, the Del Busso scandal, spent a year and a bit playing reggies and every time he speaks to the media he’s positive about our club, about our coach and our fans.
He’s not kicking stones and when he is picked in the 17 he gives it everything.
Yep I’ll agree he’s on more than what I’d pay, but that’s not his bone to picked at by you or me, it’s Clearys.

I’d say we should sit tight with money, maybe get Nofo across the line before we go any further.
We are in good position for once in a blue moon.
Some of you guys are like the bloke in pokie room who’s been losing all week finally gets a win and then puts it all back in.

I spoke with an uncle of mine who played with and is still involved with the bulldogs, that he’s contract price was huge, bigger than he expected.
I asked if the $2 million mark I read in the news was close to what he heard and he said it’s a lot closer to $3 million for the four years.

      Hey Everyone👍
It’s been a few years since I’ve posted on here, but I’ve been following it on and off.
Hope you guys are all doing great…as good as you can be with our side missing out again.
I know everyone’s keen on signing somebody and so am I, but if there’s no one off any significance or a real bargain that adds something to the team I’d happily see the tigers save their dollars for 2022.

Good to see in the paper that Josh Reynolds has made a few more million on investment properties and has apparently found a new love. Thus no need at all to take up UK SL offers…

      Just our luck.

All jokes aside, but him leaving would have changed our entire club and allowed two really good signings. He is entitled to his money, but now that the whole “great clubman” myth has been exposed it is going to be fairly galling watching him begrudgingly sit on the sidelines for another 12 months collecting his 700-800 grand.

He has been an absolute disastrous signing. By FAR our worst as he is going to ride out the whole four years…at least Blair jumped ship.

      Blame Cleary not Reynolds.
Reynolds was asked to join our club, he came he’s had injuries and off field dramas and competition for his spot…a few years ago we had a bloke(Mitch Moses)who was not playing all that well either and gave up on the team, he walked out on his contract and everyone still gives him grief about it, At least Reynolds gives it 100 percent every time he’s in the game, even if it’s not what you call value for money.
Fate is a funny thing, If Marshall did not return and Reynolds had 2 full seasons under his belt he might be playing out off his skin or he might not.
But you can’t blame a guy who’s been offered big dollars not to take it and see out his contract.

The cupboard is looking extremely bare for 2021.

Apart from Tamou, all we’ve signed rookies that other clubs obviously didn’t see as priorities.

Unless there are a few decent signings on the way, we’re going to be battling for the spoon.

Well i think the policy is that if players are not worth signing from other clubs apart from JAC that’s been tabled there is not much room within our cap to go on a spending spree like the bulldogs have done.

I have nil expectations making the 8 next year and do think we will finish somewhere where we did the this year.

The following year we will have some room and a new Centre of Excellence with facilities to attract some talent.

Suppose we just have to be patient until the following year.

Waiting for a centre of excellence to save us could be like waiting for Godot.

All the other clubs are buidding coes. Some even have a massive head start on us in running a successful coe (e.g Penrith).

Bottom line is that, as it stands, we’re going into 2021 with our weakest roster for many years.

I don’t think our roster is that bad to be honest

      Aloiai-Twal-Leilua-Garner-Utoikamanu-Musgrove-Tamou
That’s not the worst forward pack we’ve had in the last 4 or 5 years In fact it’s probably the best we’ve had for a long time.

      Doueihi-Nof-Talau-Leilua-Momo-Mbye-Brooks-Kepaoa
      Reynolds

It’s in the backs were we will win or lose games, where some of these guys are picked and how much positional changing takes place.

Everyone sees things from different angles, I reckon our roster is not too bad and if we learn how to edge our those games we shouldn’t lose we just might make the 8

Just had some thoughts on Madge and an extension
Its well known that Bellamy is in his last year before retirement
The same year Madge finishes his current contract with us
Mage worked under Bellamy if I am correct
That both have a hard line approach and expect results
      Both have a temper
Madge did very well managing Grant this year and knows his game
I heard Cameron Smith do an interview on Cairns radio this morning and he spoke how well Grant did at the Tigers this year
Is that an endorsement to try and get Madge to step into Bellamy’s shoes
The timing is perfect for Melbourne and Madge
Harry preformed very well under Madge which would put Madge in a great position for the vacant coaching roll at Melbourne
Its not good for us at all if you think about it
I like what Madge has done for us and things look from the outside like we are planning for the future
I for one hope Madge stays and we lock him up soon
Real soon before the papers start writing stories linking Madge to Melbourne

I reckon you could be onto something, I know Jason Ryles (mate of a mate) is held in high regard at Storm but he is going overseas to coach England’s rugby team.

All things point to Madge leaving us unfortunately.

You guys have way too much time on your hands

JAC is a gun there’s no doubt about that.
But getting into a bidding war is not a professional approach.
Give him the offer that suits us financially.
      That’s all you do.
If he demands more he goes elsewhere.
Spend the money wisely and appropriately on value.
Otherwise there will be another decade like last one.

Brandon Smith is quality. Drop him in our team and it instantly improves us. I prefer him at 13 but he still goes very well at 9.

Having the option to move him to 13 and then freshen up the ruck with Liddle or Simpkin coming on, against tired defenders would be a nice option to have. Having said that I don’t see him coming here when he will have the majority of teams to choose from.

It would be ludicrous not to sign Brandon Smith if he would come here. Forget skills and the like, he is a relentless competitor and a winner. The prototype of what Madge would be looking for. Liddle is a crafty hooker with a bit of toe yet to prove he’s a consistent NRL player. Ship him off and use Simpkin and Smith in tandem for the next 10 years.

It would also be crazy to sign Smith or anyone for that matter that is shopping themselves to only play a position of their choice.

When did that become a thing?

Madge is the boss and if you’re lucky enough to get an offer, you turn up, train your arse off and Madge will tell you what he expects of you.

I can understand Smith’s situation, he believes he’s a hooker, which he is, a bit of an unconventional one, but he’s an international and one who has dominated that position at Test level before. He’s been stuck behind a bloke people are calling the GOAT. I hate Smith but it’s hard to argue too much. Smith feels it’s his time to get a run in his favoured position and I feel that WT are not in a position to dictate to any player of his quality. We simply need him in the organisation more than we need Liddle.

Question: would people rather Widdop (1y)/Noffa (3y) or Laurie (4y)/Mansour(2y). If I had to choose I would probably take Laurie/Mansour

Hard call. Both scenarios have upside and downside.
On Nofoaluma, I really want him to re-sign as I value loyalty but if I’m honest, as footballers I thing him and mansour are interchangeable

Certainly not sure of why, but Nofo hasn’t seemed to be showing loyalty atm?

But I do think wingers are the easiest position to change, quick blokes are coming through every day.

I’ve heard Nofoaluma is getting itchy feet about wanting to play semi final footy and also thinks his value has gone up. You could call that disloyal but you could also call it fair. I think we are heading towards finals footy but we regressed on field in 2020 and maybe he’s had enough. I hope he stays though.

One hot season and he’s out to play semis? He’s the only other long term player aside from Brooks that can be associated with the repeated past failures. Bit rich to have good season and then start getting bullish about wanting finals footy. If that’s his attitude he can go. Stay and build something here, or do a Tedesco/Moses/Woods and parachute into an already successful outfit. Good luck.

There is a reason why this club has not played finals in 10 seasons …Nofoaluma should sign or move on ,obviously has tickets on himself ,wIngers are a dime a dozen Bigger / faster and can tackle ! Brooks
will be lucky to see out the full season in the top grade.

How about instead of bashing our halfback we support him…how many dally m position awards have we got in our current squad? Exactly

In a season where basically only nofa and Luciano had a good year, Brooks seems to be the common go to man for criticism

To be fair, he is the halfback!!!
If without Munster or Hughes I don’t think Melbourne win the grand final last year, it’s simple without a top line halfback we will struggle to put on points week in week out.
And unfortunately that comes down to brooks.

The quote there is " if without Munster or Hughes"…with Munster out, Hughes, and the team, was struggling. Give Brooks a season with a good 5/8 and see how he goes because this season Benji was woeful.

Since Carr left the tigers years ago he has never played in a struggling side.
Don’t be so sure he will be the same player playing with the bulldogs.

Too many question marks on signing him.
It has to be reverse psychology from the club to mention we’re interested in him.
      At least I hope that’s

Jennings/mansour nothing to do with each other
      Talau not a winger
Momo or anyone else are they grand final wingers?
Why help panthers - agree but may release Laurie which would assist fb problem

The comparison with Jennings and Mansour is to obvious, there’s no real pace, height or X factor about either.
My point was Jennings is a very similar option to Mansour so if they let him go why would you sign someone similar?
Talau played a fair bit of wing last year from memory so you may say he’s not a winger but that’s where his first grade appearances have been.
Your argument on momo not being a grand final player is very strange, are you saying that because Mansour played in a grand final he’s got more upside than a bloke who kicks goals has twice the legs left in him and is also cheaper on the books.
Momo played in the semis two years ago when the roosters beat Melbourne in the GF he even scored a meat pie in one of those games so he’s got a little bit of big game experience for a young bloke.
Mansour is the Josh Reynolds of wingers.
      It’s a no from me.
