@Tiger_Steve interesting, what do you see in Jennings that’s makes you think he actually could become a good player for us? (Genuine question) becuase I don’t really think he offers much tbh.
The first thing is the obvious one - at Souths he was a good finisher. Could find the line. Second thing is I’ve watched him defend and I think he reads oppositions well - makes decent decisions defensively. I’ve also watched his off the ball involvement - kick chase, willingness to take a dirty hit up, chase etc. But none if this was obvious for us. Maybe he was injured, leading to less training and therefore slower and less fit. Anyway, that’s my take on him
He also had GI inside of him, making him look better than he was.
JUST IN: @PenrithPanthers have signed Kurt Capewell for the next two years. @telegraph_sport
Perfect example of a club making a signing WITHOUT ANY NOISE. Those calling the panthers a basket case still aren’t getting it.
Signed Capewell and Koroisau under other teams noses without moving a muscle…
I know what I’d rather our club be like.
If the Panthers had signed LM it would not have been “WITHOUT ANY NOISE”.
Love Maguire. Great to have a coach who understands how to recruit and build a winning club for a change
Some of the credit for this signing must go to Adam Hartigan, because that how the Roosters stack their club with every other clubs junior talent.
The Tigers continue to reshape their roster with a number of key signings and re-signings. The club will soon announce the recruitment of Luciano Leilua to fill the void left by the departure of Ryan Matterson. The Dragons had at one point contemplated a Leilua-Matterson swap, although the latter instead returned to Parramatta.
The Tigers have exacted some revenge on the Eels with the signing of young gun Stefano Utoikamanu, who is expected to make his NRL debut next season. Utoikamanu has signed with the Tigers for three years from 2021, but they will accommodate him immediately if he is granted an early release.
I think that this may be some part of the deal to release Matterson to the Eels.
If this is the case I think we got out of it very well
However, the Eels earmarked Utoikamanu, who grew up playing against the likes of Haas and David Fifita, to make his debut in 2020 and now have a decision to make whether to keep him at the club or let him link with the Tigers immediately.
NRL.com understands Utoikamanu, who is on a development contract with the Eels and is no guarantee of being bumped up into the NRL squad, stands to earn almost triple the original offer the Eels put to him midway through the year.
The Eels raised their offer in recent weeks – and again on Thursday night in a desperate bid to hold on to him – however Utoikamanu had already reached a decision.
There’s a scene in Monty Python’s Life of Brian where a member of the Judean People’s Front turns to their leader and says, “it’s happening Stan, something is actually happening!!!”
Well I’m starting to feel that finally, after years and years of mishap, misfortune and plain incompetence; after many false starts, something is finally happening. Maybe now we can all start whistling to “always look on the bright side of life!!”
Not sure why we would want to be nailed up on a cross but Turdberg would approve
Cool comment guy. Well worked in.
This thread was definitely missing some veiled anti semitism.
Hilarious comment since i am part jewish myself
I’m tempted to ask which part of you is part Jewish , but I won’t …
