Could Farah’s return to the club last year spark the interest of the NRL?
Unless we are paying him significantly less than market value and agreed to pay him overs in this ambassador role (When he is not under the salary cap) i cannot see an issue with this.
Playing devils advocate here.
Who’s to say we didn’t release him to Souths to free up salary cap space with the intention of him returning in 2019 at a reduced rate with a previous promise of a job after retirement.
I know that is not true but they are the theories people would be spouting if this was another club in this situation.
Only issue with this theory is that Farah would have a dispensation of his salary due to length of service which would then be lost due to change of club therefore nullifying the advantage you’ve mentioned.
This whole saga is absolute garbage on so many fronts!
Yes the punishment is excessive but the way in which we handled the situation in the first place in applying for dispensation due to Farah being destabilising whilst offering the destabilising influence a job after he finishes playing is just ridiculous.
With regard to the clubs comment about not knowing Farah’s intention about a role post footy being in contradiction to the NRL saying they have a signed contract it is very possible there is a signed contract from the club and Pascoe that Farah has yet to sign.
As most of us know a contract needs to be signed by both parties therefore Farah/Ayoub could very well have a “signed” contract which only has one signature on it, Pascoe’s.
