I can explain how it is a professionally run club. We’ve signed Clearly and moved on JT. We have at this point a well managed cap. We haven’t chased after players and offered way overs for them to stay. We’ve proven that we can move on in relation to retaining and recruiting players and as soon as the situation was untenable we have taken action.

The club tried repeatedly to sign the supposed best 4 players. Personally I don’t even think they are our 4 best players. Our fullback is our best player and then there are really no superstars below that. Our captain plays well occasionally but has a tonne of faults in his game. Our 6 can be great but he can also be terrible. Brooks re-signed with us and has a lot of learning to do. He definitely isn’t our 4th best player but he isn’t any worse than our 6. I think Nofo has more of an impact to the team than all of the 4 supposed best players excluding our fullback and I think splitting who is the best player below our fullback is pretty hard to do. The big 4 was always a media beat-up.

We also haven’t had big player or club scandals unlike plenty of other clubs.

Basically on the whole we appear to have professional managers in place directing this club. They can only control what they can control but they can take action when things get tough. I believe they’ve done this. It hasn’t been perfect but if I was in their position making decisions I guarantee that there would be much more supposed drama. I wouldn’t be supporting these players who have acted unprofessionally and that would cause some fan and media reactions. To me that is the right decision but I’m not sure if everyone would agree with that.

We haven’t had any scandals? Are you serious?

Tim Simona was banned indefinitely for betting on games he was involved in, and the club wasn’t cluey enough to know about the problem when he twice asked for advances on his salary. He also clearly outlined a cocaine problem that runs through out club, but the supposedly professional management just swept this all under the carpet because he bets on games so why should we believe him? This is revealed just a few weeks after a player of ours is arrested for possession of, wait for it, cocaine! And while the other people in his presence won’t be revealed publicly, there were WT squad members with him at the time.

Is that not enough scandal for you? All while our management sits by and says nothing to see here.

I just want to know what is so wrong with Wests Tigers management? I’m not joking.

Happy was venting endlessly about Wests Tigers when it became clear that Tedesco was leaving but no specifics.

We have record memberships, increased community involvement, increased sponsorships, JV sorted with no NRL involvement or funding anymore and we have a Wests Ashfield majority board.

We now have a well respected coach who has improved this current roster within a month. We are looking competitive again compared to the first month of this season.

I read comments about our CEO Pascoe about how he isn’t performing. Why? He seems to be quite competent with things going on. I hear how Marina Go is doing a poor job but all I ever read is it’s because she’s not a leaguie so can’t run anything to do with rugby league. What utter BS.

All this noise about why the “big 3” want to leave - so what.
What about Nofo staying and proud to do so. What about all the others who have recommited? They all WANT to be here.

Can someone, anyone give me substantial, concrete evidence of why we are a “basket case”?

Our club has not had drug cheating issues with ASADA
No front page sex scandals the like of Coffs Harbour
No salary cap mismanagement involving docking of points.
No drunken player episodes involving lewd dog acts that required players taking overseas rehab.

Even this television interview with our captain who wants out didn’t explain to me why we are such a poorly managed club. So many contradictions from him. We are a club always in the news - wow. For what? Trying to sort things out? Making change in any business is difficult but a sport involving huge egos? That’s always a media story. That’s why we are on the back page - not because we have to send a key player away in the dead of night, not because we lost all of our competition points, not because we have affidavids from lawyers representing wimen who were molested.

Why is my club so God damned awful?
Simple answer - it’s not.

All the talk about the club being a basket case stems from the players. Whether current, such as Woods or past, such as Anasta. That is just one side of the story, the players’ side. That is the side that the media (and Happy) are running with, because those people are closer to the players these days than they are the club officials.

The other side of the story is of course the club’s story and I am sure that they would not be painting such a rosy picture of the players that the media is presenting.

And as always, somewhere in the middle is the truth. As I’ve said elsewhere, lucky for us, Ivan Cleary is in the middle!

The best three players in our club (four if you want to count Farah last year) have left or been punted unceremoniously in the past 6 months. How is this not a terrible reflection on management?

The club spout how good our sponsorship money is, except that is comes pretty much all from Brydens. We have virtually no third party support, which stops us from recruiting any genuine marquee players and having more depth in our squad. We’re currently paying $1mil worth of our salary cap to players playing at other clubs, not because of previous management decisions, but because of decisions by our most recent coach and current management. We are a laughing stock amongst all the other clubs in the competition, to the point where our Chair is ignored by other clubs because she is in the pocket of John Grant and the NRL. We’re currently sitting 14th in NRL & NYC and 11th in ISP, have no Junior Kangaroos reps (one who the club let go last year), no reps in the NSW U/16s and 1 in the NSW U/18s.

This is a professionally run club?

Can anyone provide evidence that the club is being run ‘professionally’?

In the last couple of years, all since the new amazing, Wests dominated board has been in charge, we’ve unceremoniously punted our captain and longest serving player in a saga that stretched over two CEOs, two seasons, two football managers and 18 months of horrible PR. And after backing a side to the hilt in that battle, the same management then shafted that side 6 months later and just 3 games into 2017.

At the same time as this, they allowed our four best players, two of whom are current State of Origin players and one a current international, to all come off contract at the same time (with some help from Mayer) and allowed this problem to fester across a whole pre-season and the first 2 months of the 2017 season. The whole saga was allowed to be played out in the public eye, the players in question put up to do media interviews again and again and allowed to question the stability and the direction of the club. It’s now revealed that in this time, not one member of management or the board even had a 5 minute chat with the captain of the club, a local junior who is thinking about his future while they’re choosing a new coach.

Someone, PLEEEEEEASE, explain to me how this is a professionally run club?

A number of WT players were called up for City, but the club wouldn’t let them play. Moses was selected in the side at and then found an injury. It’s a complete joke.

I see this everywhere, and maybe I’m completely blind - how has Woods ‘betrayed’ WT? If it’s because he’s leaving for another club, then does that mean every player who leaves a club is betraying them?

Go read some of the posts on the forum. You will see no one is having a go at him for leaving per se. Its how he has conducted himself and badmouthed the club. You okay with a captain bad mouthing his club?

If nobody from the club even spoke to him for 3 weeks between Taylor being sacked & Cleary being appointed, and it wouldn’t surprise me given what I’ve heard, then they deserve a bad mouthing.

I’m lost as to how easily people are buying into the Pascoe & Go spin. At what other club would the CEO & Chair be praised after sacking a coach three weeks into a season, one they’d backed over a club legend 6 months prior, whilst also losing the four best players in the club? We may all want to deny it, but it’s true - WE ARE A BASKETCASE!

Every other club and everyone else in the game laughs at us & the way we’re run. It’s just embarrassing. Did you see Bulldogs fans booing Steve Price when he left in 2004?

Apparently a Wests Tigers fan threw a can of beer at Moses and it missed him but sprayed all over Fifita.

Well I hope that’s rubbish. If it’s true then I find that embarrassing. I have no problem giving it to guys, but to throw stuff at them is not on and certainly not something I want associated with a club I support

Was sitting in that corner and it’s 100% true. Fans had two signs abusing Moses, spent the entire game giving it to him then threw the full can of beer onto the field at full time.

IMO, what is worse is that two security guards standing right in front of him on the field stood there and watched, didn’t move a muscle. Blokes like that should be barred from our game for good!

People are getting very up tight about what the majority of journos are saying about our club. Maybe if we didn’t give them so many negative things to write about, we wouldn’t be hear whinging about supposedly getting a rough go?

Also, for those saying how much better Brent Read treats us - his desk neighbour at The Australian is Marina Go’s husband. Maybe we should remember that whenever he gives us a wrap……

I don’t think WT supporters are unaware of the fact that our club has deserved it’s fair share of bad press this last 18 months or so.
But we are looking upwards both on the field and off and these two-bit, halfwit journo’s are still flogging the club as if we have nothing positive going for us. Good win last weekend……hell let’s write more BS about what a basket case WT are, how badly they have mistreated Tedesco, Moses and Woods etc etc etc.
Barely one word has been written about good things WT are doing both on and off field.
Prime example is this sausage Massoud coming out and stating “no-one wants to go near the WT club” when we have signed 2 reputable players in the last 4 days and a SOO rep in McQueen a few weeks prior. He is just pasting us with negative comments.
We are going better on the field than many clubs ATM and recruiting well for next season and beyond, quality players instead of has-beens yet some bumholes refuse to see any upside in our club.
That is what irks people. Credit where credit is due sometimes.
Where are the relentless stories about Penrith’s pathetic start to 2017, the turmoil at Canterbury etc?

Penrith are copping their fair share, Rothfield is smashing them.

To be honest, if any other club had lost its three best players, all of whom were local juniors and two of whom were Origin stars, I think they’d be deservedly copping it, no matter who they’ve signed as replacements. No doubt Reynolds & Matulino are good quality signings, McQueen questionable, but they only come on the back of losing players as good if not better than them.

We need to get over this Manly-esque siege mentality, driven by our Chair telling people to only read & believe friendly media, and seriously examine where we are as a club. The seeds are there with our coach and some of our current squad for a great future, but we can’t simply ignore inconvenient truths.
