The bloke has been in court more than once on charges relating to assault or violence towards women.

Let’s give him a wide-berth and move on.

I cannot say whether or not the media reports are a watered down version of events… but speaking on the version of events portrayed in the media, if the woman felt violated, then action is obviously warranted.

Would you knock back a prime Greg Inglis? Greg Bird? Ferguson? Thurston left Bulldogs at an opportune time then was done for drunken nudity, Joey Johns wasnt eating Green Mitsubishi’s in the Tele but was common knowledge, suppose you think Fitler was only loose after his playing days? Even lodge, we did the right thing cutting him loose, yet the Broncos reap the rewards… These are accounts that need little explaination.

People change, people grow… put clauses in his contract to protect ourselves, but give the bloke a chance at redemption.

For every Ben Barba, there is a Thurston… even devils advocate and say there is also another Todd Carney…

But I will be stuffed if chasing choir boys works, we could end up with 17 altar boys like Matterson.

@Blacknwhite now there’s a plan. Best of all we don’t need that many apartments, Harry could just change his rental/sales ratio per block and he would probably still come out in front.

I wouldnt make Harry build the block of units out of his own pocket… pay him to build them, give him a few units to keep and rent, and see if we could broker a deal where the rental return is funnelled back into sponsorships for the $2m equity we gifted.

Wets Ashfield spent $20m+ iirc building their carpark, they have the finances to fund the build, will get a fair chunk back selling a portion of the units, and gain equity in the units they keep for player housing, and an ongoing income minimal as it may be from the players rent… it isnt rocket science.

I would go as far to say depending what they sold, they could walk away even, have their units for player lodgings, and the minimal rent they charge would cover the food, internet, foxtel and other perks.

When a club offers a kid a contract to play junior rep stuff I guess it has no bearing on the salary cap and they can pay as much as they want.

So a team like Easts can pay these kids a small fortune and than drop the money back when they hit grade to be cap compliant.

They seem to have no trouble attracting both the elite senior players and the elite junior players. I would love them to be exposed but I doubt that will ever happen…the Teflon club

If the club was to be really serious, and take on the cap recruiting juniors, it could be done.

Buy some land, get Meriton to develop small blocks of units, 50-100. Use a similar strategy to Politis and the Sharks, using a property portfolio to back the club financially. Pay Meriton a premium, the extras funelled into sponsorships to NRL players, and keep him off sponsorships to the club.

As kids are brought into the system, set them up in the units, at a price where its still cap compliant, though put foxtel and NBN pro bono, even bulk deliver food to the one building taking care of both dietary needs of players and taking pressure off their wallets. Makes it easy to run a shuttle bus to training, put minders in the building to make sure they arent getting out of hand… has alot of upside across the board.

Schools and districts we are apart of. Make our development charged under our football operations, run clinics for coaching so to have a core philosophy and work ethic so we can more easily identify players who should excell as they move into our West Tigers system as adults. Flex the large juniors base/schools under our umbrella to put pressure on suppliers, balls, jersey makers etc. to help them broker better deals/subsidise some of it (sounds expensive, though Wests Ashfield is already doing alot of this anyway). Put money into our sports science dept and have them educate coaches across the board, have em work on the kids if they break…

Junior managers… get an accredited manager on board, hell even get someone accredited, as most of these kids wont have managers. Guide them into the in house management, and give kids who do the most perks, lower % fees and what not. For a few grand we would see alot jump ship, and then we would have insight into other clubs showing interest into our up and coming players. We dont need a shill giving them bad advice in our favour, but havent we all had enough of player managers running the show. Our guy being the only one who can get his players food deliveries would save them 5k a yr at least, thats a hell of a carrot.

Sounds rediculous I know, but we arent going to lure a Cronk, Tedesco, Taumalolo away until we right the ship. Sure we will lose some players we invest in, but that is inevitable. What we can do though is create an environment where its stupid not to come here and be developed, nurture a positive atmosphere and culture from the grass roots.

We can find the kids… we always have. What we need to do Is compete at the utmost highest level to indoctrinate them, and change the perception of our professionalism, before the hacks in our NRL squad have a chance to ifect them with negativity.

Let’s round the figures to make it easier. There are approximately 4,200 religions. Each believe the other 4,199 religions are wrong. Non-believers think 4,200 religions are wrong. Go figure.

There are 16 teams in the NRL and the supporters of each team believe that the supporters of each team believe that the supporters of each other team are backing the wrong team. Some things never change so why argue?

Manly fans… I can prove one teams fans are unequivocally wrong. Big difference!

@Geo you get one from this list, or a younger guy looking for a top 30 spot from another club
We have quite a few backrowers on contract, it is a position we can cover on our roster
https://www.zerotackle.com/rugby-league/players/off-contract-2019/

Jamie Buhrer, Kurt Capewell, Jed Cartwright, Andrew Davey, Alex Glenn, Jack Gosiewski, Slade Griffin, Brodie Jones, Josh Kerr, Patrick Mago, Reuben Porter, Robbie Rochow, Scott Sorensen, Zane Tetevano, Kyle Turner, Teig Wilton, Frank Winterstein

Here’s the list…who’s coming for minimum wage …Anyone half decent like Capewell, Glenn or Tetevano that maybe better isn’t coming here for 100K…

Kyle Turner…?

Anyone who thinks we are possibly letting go Lawrence to replace him with another second rower has rocks in their heads. The bloke is a victim of cap circumstance. We have alot of fat eating coin, non performers who we couldnt shop around if we tried… blokes like Masters who need a sports shrink to run hard again, run onto a ball and release his winger, instead of backing into the line every run… that solves one of a few issues.

Madge didnt make these problems, actually he gifted us Jennings, but we are all sitting here licking our wounds yet again, and Chris is wiggle room.

Upgrade Eisenhuth and we can run Twal at 13 and Matterson can terrorise an edge opposite Garner. Upgrade on Jennings and we improve on laziness… alternatively find a FB and Thompson walks into Jennings spot… and we still need a hooker.

Lawrence isnt a casualty of finding a better second rower, its that he isnt a prop, a winger, a centre, a hooker, nor a fullback.

Letting go of Lawrence drops of sharply the quality of the backrow…

McQueen Taylor Seyfarth and McKintye are the depth …I mean really…we may have numbers in the depth chart but none of them offer as much IMO,Taylor has been good the last month but anything happens to Garner or Matterson and we are screwed …

We lost Aloiai up front and it hurt…

Even if you replace Lawrence with a different position you are unlikely get one that’s a gem for minimum wage…deck chairs…

Not picking you out… though as per an article, Storm picked our pocket for Ryan Pap on a humble $140k/per.

What I know, definitely, is that Lawrence, great clubman, great human, and a player who gives his all, is proven over the last decade to not be an integral part of this team making the finals. NOT DEBATABLE !

I whole heartedly agree, that losing him before others is criminal, it really is. Though unless you can pry another contract loose, we do not have other options.

Looking at the roster we have some very good players just not enough of them.

Matterson, Aloai, Twal, Mikalele, Brooks, Mikalele, Garner, Momirovski, Thompson, Nofa.

That’s where it’s telling. We need 7 quality players to really compete. Some youngsters may come up to the mark Clarke, Talau, Bradley, Seyfarth. It’s a long road to a consistent finals team and has to be done with patience and food long term planning.

makes me sick saying this, as that jersey drama will never be forgotten by me, but I would add Benji to that list of late, easily doing enough to get us over the line if we had a touch more class.

Injuries… Somewhat poor ref decisions… But overall, what ended this game was that 10 minute period after half time where we just didn’t show up. All too common a story, that one.

Yup.

Oh well, even if we had one - we don’t have the team to make it any further than the first week.

Honestly, done well considering many many things.

Yeah I think some people have an over inflated sense of our roster. In saying that, I don’t think Madge’s decision on Corey’s injury helped

What was Madge supposed to do regarding Corey, his only choices were Farah or Tommy.

Tommy was the clear choice

No he wasn’t…

yeah he was, Robbie shouldn’t even have been in the 21

High pressure game…hmmm! let me see, should I go with a kid with 1 game to his name or a 300 gamer/ plus a representative on top that’s used to playing in high pressure games. Gee I don’t know that’s a hard one.

How has Robbies experience helped in pressure games over the last decade… honestly, lol
