Based on this game, and only this game, Melbourne can have JAC….
What game were you watching mate? I thought he was one of our best - defended pretty well, ran the ball hard. Other than dropping that bomb late in the second half when the game was lost he did well. Can’t blame him for the drop in those conditions.
You could tell the Rorters studied him and shut him down. If anything that shows how good he is, if opposing teams feel they need to watch film on him and develop a game plan to minimise his impact. When would you ever see an opposing side threatened by Nofo, Simona or Kev?
Don’t worry, he wasn’t alone. Missed tackles, getting put out over the try line for not getting low on return, dropped bomb…. He was pretty ineffective as were a lot of players. But they aren’t possibly going to Melbourne… Hence the comment… Overall conditions suited the bigger team… Which we will never be.
Ridiculous if true… Beats me how big clubs can, just afford to pull out contract offers without blinking an eye… And the nrl doesn’t even flinch… Broncos, storm, roosters… Just unbelievable… There really needs to be a new system that’s fair.
wanna know how? cause players want to go to melbourne, broncos, roosters.
who the HELL would want to go to the tigers or knights?? we have to pay overs, its that simple.
not to mention when we have chris lawrence on like 600k, broses on a million between them and 950k for farah - hardly helps our ability to buy players.
Do you really think they go there on next to nothing tho? I agree we have to pay overs atm, these clubs are packed full of internationals yet others struggle with park footballers… To me this is why the cap is useless and needs to be changed…
Bennett would do something, he’d arsehole anyone who didn’t want to do it his way. This is what I am saying, bring in a hard nosed coach who will either command respect, or move on those who don’t. Haslers, Bennetts, Maguires and Bellamys win premierships these days, they’re all very hard nosed types who expect only the best from their players.
I think Bennett wouldn’t take the job after being told that under no circumstances was he to drop Farah due to financial pressures from above… It’s easy to say he wouldn’t cop it, but if the money was taken away and he wasn’t allowed to bring Boyd with him then I dare say it would be no deal. To me Harry is the head of the boys club, and part of the problem.
My message to buckets is a very simple one……do your job and recruit some players who can get a job done at NRL level,no more rejects,no more ESL players looking for a last contract,no more reserve graders, no more rugby experiments and no more young kids who are still on P plates.
Than find a coach who the players repect, who is willing to drop anyone who fails deliver, who picks a team on form, who has a good idea how to best use the 17 players he has at his disposal and can put a game plan together.
Pretty simple really
It’s not about finding a coach the players will respect, it’s getting a coach who will command respect.
Your right…badly worded on my behalf
I do agree though. Since Sheens we’ve had coaches who have let players get away with murder, whether they allowed it or not. The board needs to grow a set and hire a coach with some clout and allow them to remove anyone who is deemed a threat to their authority. Otherwise it is a perpetual cycle which will never cease. Even if it means we have to hurt in the short term (risk losing players who can’t handle a Maguire/Bellamy-esque coach,) we will benefit in the long run.
That was the issue tho wasn’t it? Taylor wanted to get rid of robbie but was undermined due to the out pouring of fans and media that it wasn’t the nice thing to do, even Harry chimed in with threatening to pull funding if certain players were pushed out…. Then Pascoe was forced to water down the situation to keep his funding for the club… Taylor was given a nudge and told that it was a losing battle. I don’t care who coaches to be honest, but Taylor is on a hiding to nowhere… He attempted to do what everyone wanted and was shot down, no he has no choice but to be a potter and get told what he can or can’t do. I know none of this may be fact, but it’s what I’ve gained from reading comments and articles… I hope I’m wrong and a new coach is able to command respect, but at the current climate at the club, I very much doubt even Bennett could do anything.
I just can’t believe how easily we were rolled. It seemed like every tackle we made, one of the markers was lying next to the play of the ball… No wonder their 9 had a field day up the middle… We only ever had on market all night! We have absolutely no wrestle in tackles, and haven’t for years, hence all the offside penalties we cop, and the times we try to hold on longer, we get done for being there too long… We really are either poorly coached defensively, or we are simply too small to compete… I’m guessing both… Either way, there is no answer without different players and coaches… Enough is enough.
