That was sensational to watch. Whatever the problem is it isnt Madge.
Loved the documentry and fantastic effort by the club in putting it on with fox. Loved it
In 2021 he played mainly Lock and off the bench with 3 or 4 games at five eight so obviously has versatility.
He also forced 11 drop outs in 2021 from only 29 attacking kicks- Only Brooks for us forced more with 12 and he played a lot more minutes and a lot more kicks
Someone said he has no passing game but he threw 257 passes this year while Adam Douehi through 266, 9 try assists, 5 tries, 7 line breaks and 6 line break assists and 50 tackle busts. He averaged more meters per run for the titans then David Fifita.
He has played 170 first grade games which is good experience without being bashed and broken
Anyone who doesent think he improves our squad is kidding themselves
1 bad performance - most of them have put in years of poor performance
So i look at our club and the other clubs and what we lack is quality at the real top end.
Our 3 highest paid players are Mbye, Brooks, Packer and at the start of the season it was Josh Reynolds
If I compare this to the top 3 in almost every other club then this is really where we fall over.
I would almost go as far to say that if we swapped the top 3 players at every club outside the bottom 4 we would be a top 8 team.
Look at what happened to Manly when Tommy T came back. If we swapped our 3 highest paid for Tom and Jake and DCE or swapped them for Taumalolo, Val Holmes and Micheal Morgan pre injury we would be a top 8 team let alone if we swapped with top 4 clubs - if we swapped our too 3 for Teddy, Keary and Chrichton or Cleary, Kikau and Crichton or Latrell, Murray, Cody W or Munster, Paps, Bromwich/Grant at the storm
What we really need is not a slightly better this or that or but too focus on buying 3 top class players. Now we might not get 3 in one offseason but find the first one as they tried to do with Latrell and JAC we need to find some genuine test level players even if we need to pay signifcant overs for the first one but make it a genuine star.
I actually think we have made good moves in buying some exceptional young players who might well turn into top 3 level players - Laurie, Douehi, Blore, Stefano, Simpkins all have that potential but we need to bring in a top 3 player.
We have gaps in our outside backs , half back and lock so lets aim for one in each of those.
Mayby Hastings is it at halfback so lets find a star outside back and a star lock. I understand why Madge would look at Sam Burgess because he might be that for 18 months and he would set standards on tje field and training paddock although perhap not in life.

I know your all spitting chips about a jersey flegg player who spent the whole year injured and has moved onto that nrl powerhouse Mackay Cutters. On the other hand the article this indicated we have kept Scolari, Dillon, Rua N, Pole, Mansfield, Tumeth, Matamura. When you have a great group of juniors come through you can only keep so many
I’d rather swap Simpkin for for the Wynnum hooker.
You rather swap a 19 yr old playing nrl for a 26 yr old hooker who has never played nrl based on 1 reserve grade game ??? Thank god your not in charge
Laurie - Injured 10 mins in and didnt we miss him
Mbye - Played majority of game at fullback and had a try assist and a scored a try and made 120 meters. Did not provide leadership but as a fill in FB he prob played ok
Nofa - 120 meters, a try, 5 offloads, 2 tackle breaks - Usally the edges are the problem in our poor performance but he was good tonight and even his defence was better
Talau - 90 meters, no errors and while he missed 1 tackles they wasnt influential. Wasnt the problem tonight
Chee Kam - First game in weeks and only 3rd game in NRL this year and was called into the centres early after the injury to Laurie. Played 66 mins in the centres and did an amazing job given the above. 157 meters, 66 post contact and 13 tackles no misses and 1 error. Prob the best game we have had from a centre although aganst weak opposition.
Maumalo - Huge game saved a try from a kick through, 221 meters inc 90 post contact and no errors or missed tackles. Our best player tonight
Douehi - Yes he scored a try , had 2 line breaks and made 191 meters but he was responsible for their first try, missed 5 tackles, was the person who left the short drop out behind him for the 3rd try and given he was on the wing im guessing it was his idea. His attack was poor mainly taking wrong options near the line and crowding his centres and winger or throwing them poor passes and did not take control of the game when we needed him too - i.e - All game. Had 1 good bomb but didn’t take it on enough and the stupid 2 point FG attempt with 8 mins left.
Brooks - Dumb, Soft game as half and captain. Missed 4 tackles, had 2 errors inc a hard one that could have been a runaway try. But ran for 176 meters. However as Captain and halfback he played dumb footy and didn’t grab the game and took the soft option for 2 short drop outs and a woeful 2 point FG attempt. Soft and Dumb game and showed he just isnt up to it
Joffa - Great game in only 49 minutes he made 146 meters and 24 tackles with no misses. We looked great when he and Stefano were on and horrible without them
Luch - Played 80 minutes which shows crap coaching again as he shouldnt. Made 128 meters, 8 tackle busts but his running has never been the problem. Missed 2 tackles but was also partly responsible for the 1st try with Douehi and the 2nd try and when he didn’t help Liddle against a charging prop. Needs to have a 20 min break either side of half time but we also have no forward depth to allow it. His defensive postioning and work though is crap but his attack is great
Blore - 1 horrible moment when he didn’t pay attention and get to Dummy half. Watching back he was the only one close enough to get in their and he didnt. Other then that though in his first starting game and first game of any type in weeks he had some good moments making 93 meters and 33 tackles without a miss. He overran the play multiple times but timing can get better.
Stefano - Up their with Maumalo as best on ground and we only looked good when he was on. 58 mins - 166 meters, 36 tackles with 2 misses but we shouldnt be relying on a 21 yr old prop in his first season to be the star of our pack.
Twal - Played 80 minutes in another poor coaching effort as its too much even for him and dents his effectiveness. 141 meters and 53 tackles with 0 misses was a huge effort. Him and Stefano make a great pair together but they got no backup from the bench or the coach.
Liddle - Woeful 8 missed tackles and his service was slow and ponderous and he provided no spark from dummy half including diving at the line when he was never going to score on the 5th. He isnt up to 80 minutes and that is poor coaching to make him try imo. Is a bench hooker in a decent team and we are playing him 80 mins.
The Bench - Offered 0 impact and isnt up to NRL level. Injuries and crap palyers have left us short but the team fell apart when the nsw cup players came on while the Warriors bench took control. Combination of poor coaching, poor selection and lack of avialable players
Amone - Big difference between NSW cup and NRL. 23 minutes for only 40 meters and provided no impact. Didnt help Liddle to let in a try to his opposite bench prop. Not up to NRL level and shouldnt be kept next year
Simpkins - 33 minutes at prop for 23 meters. Only young so deserves some leeway but will need to get better then this as when he and Amone came on our game fell apart.
Tuilagi - 16 minutes and did nothing and looked lost out their. Big difference between NSW cup and NRL. 1st game gives him some breathing space but not for long
Madge - A dumb team is a reflection on the coach and the continued poor defence in the Leilua/Douehi corridoor needs something done. His key spine took soft options which is on him and them, he had no bench hooker and 3 rookies on the bench (although im not sure we had anyone else available)
So in conclusion - The spine was atrocious, the bench was non existent but the rest were for once mostly good.
I mean how could they replace Hartigan.
Look this is the guy who helped us recruit
Josh Ado Carr
Tevita Pangai Jnr
I mean a head of footy who lead those brilliant recruiting wins and we are getting rid of him. Shambles
Wests Tigers have just parted ways with GM Adam Hartigan, who brought Laurie, Stefano and Blore to the club.
Sheens now calling the shots. Bizarre move. The club’s only shining light has been the recruitment and development of the youth.
Anyone else think Chammas just lost his inside source.
Our biggest problem has been recruitment and Hartigan was in charge of it. Our 2nd biggest problems was leaks.
2 birds on stone
Having a look around if i was looking at next year
Sign Brandon Smith or Josh Hodgson both who look like they might come available. Simpkins only 19 it qill do him the world of good to play 20 mins each week behind either.
Sign one of Sua, Tapine, Toby Rudolph, Nathan Brown or even Teviat Pangai Jnr to add a quality forward to the pack - beggars cant be choosers and all are origin quality or will be
Im assuming Hastings moves into Halfback next year but if not go hard for Shaun Johnson or Mitchell Moses (i know but sick of loosing so lets pick talent).
We need an outside back although i do feel we have lots of potential coming through the juniors here and their isnt much left in the market but a quality winger - DWZ, Corey Oates type
Aim for 3 or 4 of those depending on hastings and make sure given the cash qe have that we get 2 at least
We have 700k left this yr we can front pay to save it next yr, all of Packers Money, half of Mbyes prob and whatever we can offload Brooks for. That gets you 2 or 3 quality players
So I called it in May
Hodgson, we tried for TPJ but ended up with Peachey, Hastings in the halves and haven picked up Gildart and Mauamalo in the outside backs.
Not the best big 3 but def making the right decisions
Think we could do with another star forward with rumours of Thompson from the dogs and also still looking at another centre
Is Hodson an 80 min player ? I don’t think so however some have him playing hooker and making transition to lock cos apparently Peachey needs a break , surely not
Played an average of 75 mins over 20 games and hasnt averaged less the 70 in 5 years. Yep he is an 80 min hooker
I am not sold on Hodgson although i have seen him produce the goods in the past however i would stick with Liddle for another year and maybe throw the sink at Brandon or Harry if he don’t work out , but i am sure Madge will work out what direction he wants to take us
Brandon Smith wont come to us and Grant eill go to redcliffe where his dad, uncle and brother all played
