Johnson def my preference over Gagai. Last year his season was up and diwn with injury and Wayne but in 2018 he had a brilliant season where he was first choice fullback. Look at his 2018 form and numbers he was top class when dedicated at fullback

'By tallying up the line break contributions (line breaks made plus line breaks assisted) for every player in the NRL over the past two regular seasons, Walker comes out well on top with 65 (31 breaks and 34 assists).

A pair of Roosters stars in James Tedesco (58) and Latrell Mitchell (54) are next, with Knights prodigy Kalyn Ponga (50) the only other player to hit 50 in that time. Just seven more players have 40 or more LB contributions.’’

One of the 11 players to have over 40 line break or line break assist is Alex Johnstone with 43 and that is despite being played on the wing some of last year and missing 10 games in 2019. He had 37 in 2018 when he spent a full year at fullback.

Really interesting to see what Storm do - They only have 23 of thier top 30 signed up for 2020 and 22 if JAC leaves and for 2021 they currently only have 10 players on thier books (we have 19 to give you a comparison) so they have plenty of space to play and could be some massive changes for them with Cam Smiths last year this year probably. They will be looking for a changing of the guard in quality and quatity youd imagine

So no media leaks so I’m assuming no signing announcements today. No big surprise, Justin Pascoe is one let down after another. Is anyone else waiting for this CoExcellence Plan to fall over?

So if there’s no signing announced today it will just be further evidence that the bloke is a total amateur…way out of his depth as a CEO

I don’t think you understand the process. NRL have to approve the release then approve the new contract etc takes time. Especially if there’s any TPA’s

That’s not the point.

Point is our CEO said there will be signing news this week.

No he didnt. He said thier might be which also means thier might not be.

There’s a reason Johnston has been shopped around for nearly 18 months, and there’s also a reason why no one else has taken him in that time…

Please tell

Cause clubs don’t want him… obvs don’t rate him well enough

By the same logic, no club has taken Latrell…

The reason clubs have not taken AJ is clear actually…

AJ wants FB

Most clubs think he is a winger and only a winger.

And only we’re dumb enough to give him that fullback role if this is supposedly true, I don’t think I’ve ever been so frustrated idk why I was really confident about getting Latrell but now this idk how much more I can take

To be fair, he has played some good games at FB.

And is better than Cory IMO.

But, yes, three coaches in a row have moved him from FB to wing after deciding he was not a FB…

So what does that tell you?

That three coaches don’t know anything or…

AJ is not a full backs bootlace.

Think it is the latter myself.

You may not think Thommo is a better FB but I do. Maybe that bar is not that high but you don’t need to lower the bar by getting AJ.

Thommo is all heart but AJ is a much better fullback - sets up a lot more attack then Thommo who is just a runner, makes half as many errors in doing it - the gap is significant as well as AJ being 5 yrs younger with significantly more experience

AJ is a significant upgrade on Corey, he has played for Australia and is only 24 and he still leaves us with $500k left over from what we offered Latrell (who isn’t it seems coming here either way so its not like we get to choose)

Would be a really good signing imo
