It’s the NRL … not the SJW.
Too bad the lefty boneheads who make ads now (or the lefty boneheads from the NRL advising them) had to insert pointed references to both Aboriginals and the LGBTQ movement… because they were scared not to.
It didn’t really need to be pushed here.
Next ad will start with an acknowledgment of traditional owners and end with a rainbow.

@Spartan117 I don’t feel like this is about money with the club. I dont believe he would accept an upgrade. I genuinely believe he doesn’t rate the Tigers chances of continually playing finals football. Whilst moving in the right direction, we have a long way to go before players start wanting to proactively come here.

He left a team that continually plays finals football to come to us … and was immediately linked with the Titans who are worse than us.
Still think it’s not about the money?

Wonder if Dave has ever has winger-specific training? Does every position need their own coach now? Mbye needs 5 coaches.

Wasn’t Moses coached by Jason Taylor?

The words coach and Jason Taylor shouldn’t be in the same sentence.

    • RE: Help me (and others) keep faith in Madge...

Let’s be brutally honest about this year.
Our best player was a reserve grader we got on loan.
We had over $2 million of cap money (Packer, McQueen, Reynolds) being totally wasted.
Our pack boasts maybe 2 or 3 blokes who would get in another top 17.
      We have 3 useless halfbacks.
Our outside backs would get maybe 3 starters in another top 17.
We have no real standout or star - we are relying on glimpses from an overcooked 35 year old.
Thank god for Madge - we really should have been fighting out the spoon.

Or possibly we’ve heard his hearts somewhere else.

Something certainly needs to change in this regards but unfortunately the Govt. seems to be trying to head in the other direction making it even harder to make reporters accountable for what is published.

The current government are complicit in increasing the deception to the public as the last fortnight has again shown to anyone without party blindness. Then after the parliamentary year finished, their leader went to a party for the serial peddlers of untruths and political mouthpiece in the Murdoch’s.

If you think Murdoch is the only serial peddler of untruths then it’s because their publications don’t suit your personal views. It would be pretty hard to find any major media company that is straight down the middle these days. There are just as many (more) that flog a left wing agenda. I worked in the media my whole life and it’s nothing like it used to be… all opinion and not much news these days.

Madden looked good to me in 2019.

Please throw in Smith and Mavoni from Jersey Flegg for next year - both weapons. Shame they couldn’t have gotten CC experience last year which will hold a few back a bit maybe.

Brooks comments should be noted,he’s probably sick of some of the guys he’s been partnerd with, either ball hogs ,to slow or not suited.

If Brooks is correct then he might be the one partnered with a new 5/8 in reggies.

      Q. How do you turn a good player into an average player?
      A. It can take a few years, but on a positive note, it’s something we have been good at.

So you don’t put any onus on the player?

It’s all the clubs fault, is it?

      Don’t think so.

I don’t think it’s fair to say that Brooks’ poor form rests on his shoulders alone. You may mount an argument that we are all masters of our own destiny, but at the same time, we all behave in accordance with the expectations of others. It’s in our DNA, and particularly so in a team environment. In a team sport, just as a coach can improve performance of a team and individuals in that team, it stands to reason that a coach (or poor club culture) can produce the opposite. As much as us fans get frustrated at a players poor performance when we know he has the skill, we need to acknowledge external influences and cultural expectation.

If your club operates without organisational discipline, pays overs for players at the end of their careers, mismanages the cap to the extent that it has to buy affordable plodders or unwanted players, then yes I do think that has an affect on club morale and consequently individual player performance.

Can’t agree - there’s plenty of players who still shine in dud teams.
I don’t think Brooks can improve but, being a supporter of the club, hope he proves me wrong.
It’s a fresh new team …maybe they’ll drag him along for the ride.

If we get Laurie and he can make that fullback spot his then we are looking good. Mbye off the bench gives us cover all over the park. Simpkins is missing out but will he really be ready at 19.

Mbye off the bench balances the whole squad…

      He can cover
      1
      3
      4
      6
      7
      9

He is not great at any of them, but he is a near perfect utility at 14.

Mate, you should see Mbye at training. Maybe he always trains like this, maybe he’s finally injury free but he looks like he’s desperate for a starting job. He is flying.

Mbye injury free is our starting fullback I reckon. If Laurie comes this year and proves to be the prodigy he’s being made out to be then great - but he’s got to earn the right. Personally I’m really pleased to hear Mbye is so determined.

If Laurie was to get starting fullback spot it would probably be a month or two into the season I think. I think he’s at the point where he won’t develop much more in reggies though needs first grade time

People forget how much the fullback is responsible for organising the defensive line. Hard for a newbie to do straight away.

I would argue that fullback is the most important defensive position on the field but not only to make the odd tackle

Whenever players talk about billy slater they always mention he was like a defensive coach on the field, he was the best at organising defense…and kicking people in the head

Billy Slater said Mbye was great at organising the defence…

This is awesome news. A great player. Professional clubman. Someone who works hard and bleeds for the club. Remember this is a bloke that Madge DROPPED and that came back afterwards and was our player of the year and Dally M Winger of the Year a season later. Re-signing him was necessary as it says a ton about our culture, our club and our coach.

Anyone complaining about this needs to pull their head out of the sand and actually be a supporter for once instead of a Chicken Little sky is falling dipstick all the time. This is one of the greatest Tigers of all time, our current best damn player and he re-signed in his prime on a reasonable contract. If you’re gonna complain about this then I feel bad for those around you honestly.

      Seriously?
One of the greatest Tigers of all time?
      Our best player?
You’re right about one thing… he re-signed on a reasonable contract - for him!
Once I pulled my head out of the sand and was actually a supporter of the club, and not one player, I soon realised that in a few years time we’ll be in exactly the situation Penrith were in with Mansour- a slow, short, winger way past his prime eating up cap space.
I would have no problem if it was 3 years with the last in our favour… but really, do you really think Dave will be our first grade winger in 2025?
If he is then God help us.

      James Hooper warning:

Exclusive: South Sydney target Tigers star David Nofoaluma as Corey Allan joins Bulldogs

The Wests Tigers face a fresh fight to retain Dally M winger of the year David Nofoaluma with the South Sydney Rabbitohs poised to make a play to sign the robust speedster for 2022.

Nofoaluma had a breakout 2020 season for the Tigers, scoring 17 tries in 20 NRL matches and collecting the club’s best and fairest Kelly-Barnes Award award.

With Corey Allan switching from South Sydney to Canterbury-Bankstown effective immediately as of Monday, the Bunnies are now eyeing off making a play to lure the Wests Tigers winger for next season.

Queensland State of Origin debutant Allan trained with the Bulldogs on Monday after agreeing to a three-year deal to play under Trent Barrett at Canterbury-Bankstown.

Nofoaluma enjoyed his most consistent season in the NRL last year with Fox Sports Lab numbers confirming the Dally M winger of the year made 112 tackle busts, 19 line breaks and seven try-assists.

His 112 tackle busts ranked 4th in the NRL and the seven try-assists were equal first with NSW Origin flyer Josh Addo-Carr for most try assists from a winger.

Wests Tigers chairman Lee Hagipanetlis enjoys an extremely tight bond with Nofoaluma and is adamant the Tigers will do everything within reason to ensure the local junior remains at Concord.

“I had dinner with David last night where I reaffirmed the club’s commitment about how we want him to be at the Wests Tigers for life,” Hagipantelis said.

“We absolutely want David to be a one club player and he’s told the club this is also his preference.”

The sticking point for Wests Tigers is the length of Nofoaluma’s new contract. The club wants to sign the 27-year-old to a three-year deal until the end of 2024.

But Nofoaluma’s agent Sam Ayoub is pushing for a four-year deal.

The off-contract Tigers winger has been repeatedly linked with a move to the Parramatta Eels to replace Blake Ferguson at the end of this year but this has been strongly refuted.

Both South Sydney and Wests Tigers have also been linked with Panthers grand final winger Josh Mansour.

Mansour has been told by the Panthers he is free to leave to join a rival NRL club.

The Rabbitohs confirmed Allan’s release from the remainder of his contract on Monday.

“His preferred position, and his best position, is fullback and the opportunity to play in that position on a regular basis is not there with us.” Head of football Mark Ellison said in a statement.

“He feels he will have a better opportunity to play fullback at his new club, on an extended and improved deal than that which he had with us,”

“We felt it would be unfair to stand in the way of Corey progressing his career somewhere else, he will always be a Rabbitoh, and we wish him and his partner Teigan all the best for the future. “

It’s not about about the terms of the contract, or even the years.

It’s about the dollars. Nofa wants to get paid.

So the question is - What is Nofa realistically worth to our or another club?

How do you know ? I’d prefer a little less for 4 years if I knew I was a winger , and it’s definitely a young mans position. Especially when you see how 31 year olds are treated in the nrl . Sauce is exhibit A for this .

His management and PR team have been pretty clear.

He wants more money based on being the 2020 Dally M winger of the year whilst he rolls into a potentially lucrative contract in 2022.

WTs offered him a new contract in late November, but we haven’t heard anything since.

I’m going to make a calculated guess that we offered him $500k but he wants more.

Pretty sure we’ll all know Nofa’s decision by the end of the month.

      Wrong.

      Ok, why? Backup your statement

He’s not being offered that much.

Mate you’ve missed my point, he wants to get paid as much as he can in an open market but we’re going to stick to our guns and pay him what he’s worth.

I personally think he’s worth $400k but I wouldn’t be surprised if we offered $500k and he wants more.

I didn’t miss your point at all. You suspect he’s been offered 500k - I’m telling you he hasn’t.

Good to hear. What did we offer then?

It’s clear you need to re-read this thread, particularly last night.

I’ve mentioned a few times in this thread that Nofa won’t be with us in 2022 if not this year.

He wants to get paid and $450-500k is a fair price, but the reality is the Eels or Bunnies will pay more for than us for a Dally M winning winger.

Good - they can have him if he wants more than that.
He’s a winger… and an average one at that.
