It may be a sensitive subject in your mind, but I would appreciate you not accusing me of upsetting you by making a factual statement. Not that it means anything but I was a Balmain junior. Only followed one club in my life. It took me 3 years to get used to the merger. I now don’t see a merger or two teams, only one team. As a kid, who watched the 1964 gf,I was soaked to the bone jostling through the crowd while most were leaving the ground. Just to get a glimps of Arthur Sumons as he walked from the ground with Norm Provan. The flash of the reporters camera lit them up like nothing I’d seen with the dark clouds behind them. I went home that day in the belief that I had been the recipient of a Devine message. My future was clear, I became a halfback.

I’m from the Balmain side as well. That stuff should be in the past. We are Wests Tigers now.

The past is valuable for learning. Don’t be afraid of it.

It’s not about being afraid of it. Your point about learning is spot on. There is no way that Balmain were the reason we had some success.

If we’ve learnt anything it should be that we are one team and we need a well managed organisation and the right players to be successful. Arguing that Balmain are better managers of the footy team is stupid and divisive.

The Balmain steer had nothing to do with the team’s success.

I pray he doesnt come… or if he does we screw him down on price.

900k is for players who can turn a game regularly, this bloke doesnt even turn up to captains runs consistantly. Gun players dont come here because they dont think they are the final cog in the machine to make us contenders. Mitchell isnt the final cog to make us a success.

Respect your opinion, what do you think is the final cog? I think it’s a 9 a 1 and an outside back

sounds silly but a real damaging second rower is a piece we need more than a back. Matterson hurt us. Frizell, Cordner, Taumalolo et. al. add both extra starch to the pack, yet also unlock the backs when running numbers. I think Brooks can read the numbers, just we lack the venom to sell the cut outs so we dont profit from indecisiveness. Matterson out wide was more dangerous than when he was in the middle.

Mitchell benefitted from having Keary inside him and then Cordner. Defensive lines dont slide hard when Cordner is an option, though any defender in the league would hedge their bets on stopping Lawrence one on
one for example. Mitchell would become our new Teddy pass when nothing is going on. If Mitchell was a fullback with all his skills, of which he has a fair toolkit, he wouldnt have lost the job long before Tedesco rocked up.

I think you’ll find Big Luci will fill that role nicely, big body with some ball playing ability!!

Im a fan of his… but what are we going to do for the other 72 mins of the game

Garner on the left for 80. Leilua on the right for as long as he lasts. Aloiai can spend some time running wide in attack too. We can make our 2nd rowers threatening enough, especially if someone like Mitchell is sweeping behind them - should be enough to create indecision in the defence.

I definitely think Aloiais strength lies in the middle

Yep. Don’t move him out wide. He performs best in the middle.

From the Forgotten Man on FB

BREAKING NEWS

The Latrell Mitchell drama is set to be finished in the upcoming week, the reports coming out Latrell will be at the Rabbitohs 100% by Monday are all false.

I cannot stress this enough!

Latrell has not signed with anyone at this point!

He has switched managers, his old manager being a core reason the Wests Tigers pulled their offer to begin with which is worrying for Latrell.

Latrell’s new manager Matt Rose, will meet with both Rabbitohs and the Wests Tigers all within this week in order to start fresh contract negotiations.

As I’ve reported in the past, Rabbitohs can not put forward a legitimate deal towards Latrell unless they offload Johnston and Gagai (new post upcoming about Johnston later today) this seems very unlikely to occur at this moment of time.

400k is the reported figure they can offer, while the Wests Tigers offer is around the 1mil mark… even if Latrell does choose the Rabbitohs another hurdle or potential setback will be on whether the NRL register his contract as they may deem the offer to be significantly under the market value.

I’m being told the Wests Tigers are about to step up their pursuit on Latrell and go in hard!

Latrell does have an interest in joining the Tigers that’s for sure, hence why I reported that it was a 99% chance of happening as I didn’t think Latrell would have even considered a deal of 400k with South Sydney - whether or not he will accept this deal no one knows!

I’m not too sure on Latrell’s interest levels on joining Souths are, I’m assuming quite high as it seems he is seriously considering this reduced 1 year deal.

Personally, I think he will be at the Wests Tigers due to the money being too good to refuse.

With fresh contract negotiations starting over with a new manager, this could be a blessing in disguise for the Wests Tigers as Latrell at one point had verbally agreed to a deal roughly a month ago but was blocked off by his former manager Wayde Rushton.

Regardless of the media dictating where Latrell will be the reality is Latrell himself doesn’t even know!

Option a) 400k 1 year deal with South Sydney
Option b) 3.8 mil 4 year deal with Wests Tigers

Over the next week, Latrell will ultimately decide his destination and it’s fair to say the Rugby League world is awaiting!

Regarding this whole Latrell saga, it does seem like this persons posts seem to be the ones who make the most sense

Idk how to take this, but I find this page to be decent as they’ve had good mail in the past

Hopefully it’s true fingers crossed I guess

Those comments sound the most likely scenario but I have no confidence at all. Let’s just see what happens.

I think you have to try him at 9 this year and see how that goes prior to making a longer term decision. I like the idea of him playing 6 longer term.

It’ll be interesting how much we offer him next contract. He is a quality first grader but not really a top level player at this point.

This whole latrell thing doesn’t make sense obviously. Everyone is talking about him going to Souffs on 600 less than we offered.

You know what would make sense? Latrell has falling out with his manager who has organised Tigers deal. Wants to take the big Tigers money but that would mean old manager gets the 6%. Makes sense to wait, get out of old manager deal, get new manager to renegotiate then take the big $ at Tigers.

I have no inside knowledge and I’m probably wrong but this is one of the few scenarios that makes sense. Probably wishful thinking.

I’m not stating he is coming to the Tigers but this is a plausible explanation. At least it makes sense.

Bloke on twitter who said Latrell was coming to WT a couple of weeks ago saying Pascoe had a three way with LM and JAC last night (I assume he means a phone call, not the other thing).

Whatever it takes Avo

If Pascoe took one (or two in this case) for the team my respect for him would grow exponentially:

I figure this might be the sort of thing that his and the clubs critics are willing to do.

It says to me that he has friends at Souths who he wants desperately to play with…
It says that WTs made him a very good offer but he wants to be with his mates…
WTs proved that they were genuine and honest in their dealings with LM,however he wants to play with indigenous players first and foremost…

If LM said 'I don’t want to play at WTs because they don’t suit me’then that would be an entirely different discussion…

Even if it costs one of the brothers a spot in souths’ top 30 - a club that they presumably love too? I can’t understand. All along he’s been saying he needs to take care of his family - the reason for his initial release was to ‘test the market and see his worth’ this is not it. He has a young family to think of, three kids at 22, taking a gamble on a cut-rate price is dumb knowing damn well you can get injured.

Do you really believe he would be taking a gamble? Are we that naive to believe this suggestion?

He is taking a gamble so long as he doesn’t have a signed contract. Anyone suggesting anything else is being naive. If there is a dodgy under the table deal and he gets injured that deal will disappear.

Don’t think for one second that Latrell has this all sorted out. It may turn out okay for him but it’s looking pretty dodgy for the guy.
