I keep a spreadsheet which is an educated guess, and it did have us with $1.7m spare with 25 signed when the whole Latrell thing first picked up pace

Since then we picked up Leilua ($400k) and Musgrove ($200k max, could be less) and extended Twal, Talau & Garner

I’ve juggled a few others up (Jennings) and down based on updated info and I have us now sitting with $1m for 3 open spots

Two of JAC, Douhei or AJ plus Stefano for 2020 would to me have us with an improved squad on last year plus with a good proportion of our squad on the way up in their careers, I don’t think that’s been the case for a while

Agreed just as long as we can sign 2 of them and get Stefano over this year, but again it’s a big if for weststigers

That would be fabulous, but I’ve resigned myself to the fact that it won’t happen. Hoping for Stefano’s release to play next season but I really don’t think our backline prospects will change at all next year. It’s too little too late for 2020. Maybe the year after, but who really knows.

Chin up Spud, there is plenty of jostling between clubs and players going on in the background and they will start to land in position soon.

Line engaged 2019, 2018
Brooks 197 (1), 82 (14)
Cronk 111 (23), 95 (9)
Kick metres
Brooks 7338 (5), 5446 (9)
Cronk 7094 (7), 8989 (2)

I feel those two stats in particular show just how much the new coach believed in Luke and wanting him to be, within reason, the sole leader of the side.

Quoted FOXsports article FG @formerguest

Wasn’t having a shot, just doubting the veracity of the source.

I think AJ would be the best option , rate him on wing… where would thompson go

Penrith apparently

I’d be pretty surprised to see Thompson leave. He’s a very handy player who isn’t on a lot of money. If we get Doueihi or Johnston you’d think he’d get one of the wing spots.

I wouldn’t wanna see him tossed aside. What’re the chances of Madge taking a tiny winger/fullback and turning him into a 9? Didn’t he do it with Cook?

Thompson’s weakest part of his game is his passing, don’t think he’d work at 9 at all. He’s a winger through and through imo.

I feel he’s exposed a lil more on the wing because he’s constantly facing up against Tupou, Oates, Vunivalu, Ferguson, Maumalo and Fusitua type players.

Especially so with the new rule that now protects all all players in the air, instead of just the defensive ones. All shorter defenders will struggle with this change.

Not that worried, being patient. Meanwhile, Melbourne Storm - only 23 players signed

Wow, only 23 officially, hard to see that figure being real at this point in time.

I don’t think we are signing another forward for the 2020 season as we seem to have a plethora of forwards … if you take into account our roster with that young Para prop:

Packer
Mikaele
Musgrove
Clark
Utoikamanu
Twal
Eisenhuth
Garner
Aloiai
Leilua
Lawrence
McQueen
Taylor
CheeKam

Who’s gonna miss out ??

Plus Seyfarth and McIntyre, which gives us two full sets of 5 run on and 3 forwards on the bench.

I’m prerty happy with Pascoe
Sounds like some clubs trying to take advantage of us to ease their cap pressure but we are playing them as we used to be played and only entertaining what’s best for us
So much media speculation but we are really playing it cool

I agree, how can you argue with anything Pascoe said in the article?

Other than the 4 years since we had similar cap space bit, as it was about two and a half years ago that they were splashing cash around.

Let’s get real here, the reason we are talking about Iran at the moment is because a man is insecure and jealous of his predecessor, which is why, unlike any president before him, he can’t stop mentioning the man that went before him.

Lets get really real. the reason we are talking about Iran, is they (via proxy militia) attacked and set fire to a US embassy. That doesnt happen & Soliemani is still alive.

Which all goes back to a man wanting to break another’s legacy, by going back an a deal and imposing sanctions.

I have a differing view and obviously disagree with the simplistic scenario you paint. Suffice to say I think the Obama deal was the worst attempt at appeasement since Chamberlain. Delivering $1.8B on pallets isnt the way.

Im not really interested in getting into a debate with you about this though which is no reflection on you and your capacity to express your opinion civilly, it is more that I see issues such as this as like a rorschach test whereby if you dislike Trump you will always see the inkblot one way, those that like Trump, will see another, always. Im in the middle.

All the discussion here has been wether Iran are the bad guys or whether Trump/US are the bad guys. It isnt binary. Both can be and are true. Im not interested in this binary discussion.

I have never said that Iran was not complicit which they are and those advising Trump are as well, though I am 99.9% sure that had they not broken a deal agreed with many other nations including allies, then people across the world would not be mourning those lost in a civilian aircraft.
