Let’s get real here, the reason we are talking about Iran at the moment is because a man is insecure and jealous of his predecessor, which is why, unlike any president before him, he can’t stop mentioning the man that went before him.

I’m leaving on a cruise today. 14 nights. I’ll be off the grid for the majority of that time. If I sail back into the harbour 2 weeks today and we still have not signed anyone, I might swim back out to sea.

Enjoy. Thinking of trying one out soon myself and make sure you grab a life vest before you disembark.

We have all the money but no one wants to come here.

I think we should temper this summation. There were very few off contract players this off season, the majority of players prefer to stay with their current club plus the Tigers need to be selective about their signings, not just grab anyone. Ever the optimist, I think our opportunities will come. We just need to be patient.

Fair, and it’s 100% frustration from my end.

But after Matterson (and letting go of Esan) we really needed a win, and so far it’s been disappointing. Luciano is a good signing don’t get me wrong, but we lack a game breaker and I was hoping we’d get one this off-season.

Still plenty of time to go.

My Biggest Frustration is the fact we released Matterson & Marsters without getting anything back or having replacements in place. I think if we played hardball we would of got something or held off until we had replacements but also understand why we did this.
I think we will regret the Marsters one as he was injured last year and him been fully fit will be back to his best…

We did not get nothing. We received full value of his contract plus 3-4 months of this yers salary which the club would be up for while negotiating a suitable release deal.
So on my maths that’s around +$500k.
Hardly nothing.

Not much use when it is sitting there unspent, historically there is not much movement on squads at this time of year!

I agree, with everyone now back after the new year squads are being finalised. Hard to imagine any more major moves we’re now in Jan. Bit of a shame, after freeing up all that cash I was getting excited for 2020. Looks like we’ll be also rans yet again.

Also disappointed we didn’t land the biggest fish, though reckon there is still a fluid market in play at the moment and we are a player in it.

When is there ever a fluid market in January?

Right now. The landscape is still in the process of change in evolving from the reasonably fresh November 1 rule. Plenty of time left for clubs and players wanting to switch rosters and then adapt to a new environment.

Edit; It must be remembered that this is the first full season to which the rules apply, as it wasn’t inplace on November 1st 2018, only in 2019.

And can someone tell me, WITH AUTHORITY, that they are balancing the books if they keep all these backs while adding Latrell to the roster?

Burgess money is my authority, as the only other change is the extension of Walker, which may or may not have included an upgrade for this year.

It seems they have gotten Mitchell whilst they can and will have to create some space to bolster their pack, with Arrow also looking like staying put until next year.

So it’s all legit except for potential brown paper bags for Latrell?

Yeah, well, I expect that we all think there is some sort of external stimulus attached to the deal. Still, I am not despondent, remaining upbeat about our club improving their ranks in the backs prior to kickoff and then before June 30 if necessary.

Something will have to give at the bunnies, as they need to bolster their pack and have riches in the backs. Little doubt that there will be reasonable choice at some point as they and other clubs look at their options, whilst WT have cash and at least 2 available spots. This sets us apart from most, if not all other clubs as WT don’t need to move any players on, though the chooks now have at least the Mitchell void to fill.

Please don’t compare JAC and Matterson. JAC appears to be a very good bloke and highly regarded in the NRL. I understand he has a family issue and we can all empathise with him. He has also been at our club and did well. If he does come back I cannot wait. As for Matterson, the Club handled his exit as well as it could and picked up quite a few exciting players from the Eels.

So what is his family issues?
without knowing his situation it seems to be the go to reason , For footy players to get out of contracts even tho it’s about $$$

Family support and custody of a 5 year old.

Please, no one mention the words front loading again until June. It’s a desperate, last minute option that no club should ever consider until its absolutely necessary.

And it sure hasn’t helped us over the past few years

Not to mention that the club cannot do it anyway, unless altering contracts and is approved by NRL. It is a bit like the arson being the main cause of fires crap, as one states it and others roll with the fantasy.

From today’s Telegraph…

JOHNSTON STAYING PUT

ALEX Johnston has no plans to leave South Sydney, with the fullback intent on seeing out the final year of his deal.

Reported to be in the firing line as the Rabbitohs hunt Latrell Mitchell, Johnston is adamant he will be at Redfern this year.

Johnston’s manager Steve Gillis said the Rabbitohs were not attempting to move the speedster on. “No one has ever spoken to either him or me about it,’’ Gillis said.

“And I certainly have not had an offer from another club. He will be at Souths this year.’’

So SMS or email.

I would not take Gagai on to play in the centres.

I would rather have Johnson.

This off season is like a bottomless bad dream you just can’t wake up from

The coach saga was worse imo

Yes…prefer this off season 10x than last…

Even if just for the fact that all our long contracted overpaid players are a year closer to being off the books. A couple of months until kickoff, money in the kitty and at least two spots to fill, so still enjoying the Ferris Wheel ride.
