Don’t know what it looked like at home but the number 4 carried the ball very very strong, he impressed me a bit , I know he’s originally a dragons junior, and we got him from Penrith, but he definitely had impact when carrying the ball. Anyway it was good to see some kids like Cini and Hoffman, Dillon , Kei good work way lambkin, snoopy and Madge exposing these kids early to the better grade so they know what to expect and the improvement they need to make to be consistent at this level.
Actually spoke with this kid after the game, he was over the moon about getting a run and I brought up that exact thing about if he could have tipped it on we may have scored, he said he had beaten his man and was going to flick it but the ball slipped so he didn’t want to force it. He admitted to making a couple of poor errors and said he would be much better for the run, as he needed the hit out badly, so down to earth ,great kid hope he kicks on.
You are so right rowdy, my mate from moorebank rams, told me warren MacDonald signed 3 guys to development contracts at the dogs and he reckons mark Hughes told him none of them will see nrl, Tyrone Harding, Steve winters Chang and another name I forgot , and he told me that MacDonald didn’t rate tommy talau, Jake Averillo and Logen Dillon who were all in the same side at moorebank rams even so called experts get it wrong from time to time
Ok thanks Balmain boy, I wasn’t sure who he was, we have obviously bought him because of his size, he does have some ability with the ball, but he has lazy traits, he is a walker and always looking for that rest in d behind the second marker, hopefully Madge gets it out of him and he’s only a kid too.
Thanks for info rowdy I’m not sure , if it’s true what you say and Madge doesn’t rate smith and Bradley , and Dillon and lui go alright on Saturday they might be upgraded I’m not sure , I went out last Saturday to belmore and watched the 20’s trial against dogs, I was told the big kid kid we had in the front row trains with first grade, big boy but very slow, can offload but is far from dominant in defence for his size, was told he is from parramatta, anybody know his name?
Neither Dillon or scolari are on development contracts. I just hope these younger guys get a ball work session in with the nrl players named, otherwise they are up against it. My understanding is they haven’t had a ball work session together yet, and officialdom like every other nrl club won’t want to pay these blokes any extra coin to train with nrl as pr Ella agreement, ( I think it’s 500 a session for memory if you train with nrl but don’t have an nrl contract), so hope we do the right thing and give all these younger boys the best chance to put their best foot forward… Also anybody know if Dylan smith is injured? 3 years on a development contract and didn’t play in mines and not named for the weekend?
Thanks tiggerman I was told Dillon clocked 9.9 m/sec and scholari 9.8 m/s, either way both are very quick , my mate on the conditioning staff gave both a big wrap as athletes as well, apparently jankovic, scolari and Dillon are all at a higher fitness level as well. No idea what the young kids is like defensively haven’t seen him play, just told that he is the quickest in the club . S
Fastest kid at our club would be an unknown 18 year old from qld, winger training with jersey Flagg, he is I think the 3rd fastest kid in Australia for his age group, Jordan can’t remember his last name, has run 10 . 20 something officially but word is he is the quickest including everybody in the club. Recent clocking in Canterbury cup indicates Dillon has just got it over scolari, testing was apparently over 40 meters, these two were apparently a bit ahead of the others. I’ll try to get some more info over the weekend.
Scholari isn’t on a development contract, but might be upgraded during the year, these are the guys I know that are training with cc although still eligible for 20’s…scolari, Dillon , Felix smith, stevanovic and William kei, jankovic, no point mentioning the kids on development deals cause they will all play cc not 20’s. by about round 4 or 5 I’d like to see our cc backline look something like 1. Dillon, 2.scolari, 3. Hoffmann, 4.cini, 5. Lei, 6. Whoever, 7. Madden, hope to see us move Bradley back to the second row where he belongs. Obviously this won’t be the happening with guy in and out of first grade contention, but at some stage would like to see us stick with the kids I mentioned.
I hope Dillon kicks on I saw a lot of 20’s games last year and he was our best att king player, and opposition sides screamed his name continuously as the danger man last yearI know he was our quickest in testing yesterday at concord and the mail is snoopy Collins is looking to start him at fullback in cc within the first few rounds. Hope has put on some size to go with the pace
