Panthers were a class above
Just how classy are Penrith ?
I would have thought that with the flow of penalties, all the field position and 2 of our forwards off for HIA, they should have put us away more convincingly than that.
I don’t want to detract from our team’s performance, but I didn’t think Penrith threw a lot at us. It was an arm wrestle for the bulk of the match and they wore us down, with some assistance from the officials.
Mate we were fighting the majority of the game to stay in the match, our defence was amazing. When the game was there to be won, the panthers worked their way down the field to set up the field goal that they were never going to miss. At the same time we started giving away silly penalties to put their class players in a position to win the game. Say what you want about Cleary but 2 years in a row when the game was there to be won he has put us to the sword and handles the pressure 100 times better than our players do. That is class and that is what we are lacking.
I guess we are talking at cross purposes.
For me, a classy team, which has 55% of the ball and twice the penalties, doesn’t need a field goal to put themselves ahead towards the end. My definition of a classy team is one that would be, under those circumstances, out of sight at the back end of the match.
Depends on the game mate, we gave it to the Panthers last night. We were tough, physical and put them off their game, this happens to all teams at time. The class teams fight through that and when it is time for the game to be won, they control the game and dictate the outcome through their playmakers. That is what Penrith did last night.
We are operating on different definitions of “class”.
What you call class, I call execution, or professionalism.
For me, class is, for example, Billy Slater chipping over the NSW backline, regathering and then chipping over the full back, regathering and scoring. That’s class !
The Pennies, getting a string of penalties and positioning Roger Ramjet to drop a field goal from in front is execution.
Like I said, in my view, the Panthers didn’t throw too much at us last night.
Agree with your post .
Class isn’t the word I’d have used …
“Smarts” is what Penrith had … plus the ref 🤬
So a shove in the back isn’t a penalty anymore?
Next week it will be
They have had a referee decide a Grandfinal last year and there is still no attention to detail in terms of performance expectations for them.
It’s a farce
Cummins should of been sacked after the Grand Final
Even the play the balls are a joke
