@Tweed_Tiger

Isn’t Daine Laurie up that way now …no relation ??

Daine Laurie was from Lower Clarence, I believe he is related to Roberts-Davis, James Roberts etc.
Seen him play a development game With the Titans & he was exceptionally quick, I thought he looked more like a centre, he had a bit of mongrel about him. He looks to have plenty of potential as long as he can handle life in the big smoke & not get homesick.

@iofthetigers 29??? Jesus, I thought he was still young, like mid 20s.

Just checked wiki says 27, that makes a big difference. at 27 I’m in, at 29, not so much

No idea, just what I was told, don’t know if he has spoken with anyone. Personally I would prefer Lindsay Collins.

@THE_POM any word on the likely replacement for Matterson?

Tuaikeaho has received permission to explore options (looking for a 3 year deal as he is 29 & still has a year to go on contract, he is looking at a deal to set him up for the future & believes he will get a better deal this year rather than next)

Fogarty left the Eels a couple of years ago,he was struggling with Sydney life. He may move up the order at the Titans with Lennihan (Burleigh coach) to be named as an assistant at the Titans.

The media love us because we give them so much ammunition. Why would they want us to stabilise and become a club that doesn’t regularly shoot itself in the foot?

The club is no where near where it was 5 years ago, it used to leak like a sieve. The reason there is so much interest in the Tigers is because of how popular it is. On a guess it appears there would 5 stories about the Tigers compared to 1 for the Titans.

Strange if Twal has extended.

Him and Matterson are the best of mates, as are their partners. Both big in keeping Aloai.

If Twal has no issue…?

Great news especially how keen the Panthers were on him

Back on Matterson, the only way the club should release him is where there is significant net benefit for us. The way they played out Ivan last year worked out well for us. We hold the cards, he is contracted and he is wanted so whatever comes in the way of negotiation will favour us if another club wants him badly enough.

And just on the topic of contracts and players being “rightfully” able to seek more, if you engage a builder to build a two homes for you, he builds the first to a good standard & in accordance with the terms of the contract and he comes back to you and says “since I did a good job, can you pay me double now for the second one?” What would you say to them?

But when the customer becomes too demanding in the builder’s eyes and wants to change the original plans completely from original deal

Matterson may have thought it was going to be a 3 bedroom single garage and bathroom under Cleary and then it ends up becoming a 200 unit skyscraper under Maguire …

Forget all the stupid analogies. Bottom line is he was signed to play football for WT for 3 years. What Cleary did or did not promise him is irrelevant.

I think most are missing my point

Matterson is to blame …Wests Tigers are just as much to blame …read my other comments …this will be the 3rd time Matterson has wanted out of a contract …what we didn’t see it could be a possibility at the very least if there were any issues

No Happy you’re wrong - first and foremost clubs don’t have to disclose why they let players go. So there is no definitive info out there as to why Parra let him go or why rorters let him go - it is all speculation. At the time we signed him there was nothing out there - and I stipulate out there - that suggested he was a problem child. And then is the other problem with your argument. If you are right in that teams should never sign errant players how does Suli fit in the mix.

Suli finally got a coach who knew the right mix of man management that would work with Suli

The coach you are talking about got rid of him from the Dogs.
