@willow said in Tigers tell Maguire they’re ‘walking on eggshells’:

“They all said: ‘We’re walking on eggshells. Everybody’s scared that if you put in one bad performance, you’ll be dropped.’

I hate to tell the precious little darlings but no player has been dropped on “one bad performance” in fact there are a few who are still in the team who have yet to put in a good performance

If it was up to you… would you keep or release him?

Calling someone a “fraud” makes the poll one sided. You would have far more credibility if you kept that out of the opening statement and just let people vote without your obvious prejudice

Excellent news, I was worried Canberra might try to back out given the news.

Good on them for not, the Raiders are definitely classier than the Eels.

Pearce has always been average, even in above average teams.
No thanks.blood a young lad.they might suck but they gain NRL experience and will only get better

I agree with giving the young players a go.Halves are a pricey commodity on the market , and very few live up to the price paid, such as JR,Taylor,Hunt,Pearce and another half dozen we could mention.Clubs seem reticent to try their young halves and prefer to buy outside. We have to percervere and not expect them to set the world on fire in the first couple of games.I doubt this would happen at the Tigers as we just move players around rather then use a specialist in a certain position, due to a lot of guys not really good elswhere.

Good halves are so rare nowadays.Pearce is better than I give him credit for,I just don’t think he would work well with our club.
I’d be disappointed if we went a splurged on a better than average halve before giving a young lad a go

Don’t worry mate, plenty of the young lads will have a go this year. Possibly one D. Laurie…

Unless we sign Mansour we probably won’t get him early I reckon 😞

It is not worth signing Mansour to get Laurie early

      @CarltonDry said in Benji Marshall:

At the awards night it was interesting that Benji thanked Ivan for bringing him back and didn’t mention Madge at all. Again Maguire loses the dressing room so it would be a brave club to extend his contract when players are going backwards and recruitment of top players is non existent during his 2 years.

All that shows is Benji is still a petulant child who cant deal with reality.Things needed to change at the club with Benji being a major problem.

Wingers greatest strength is speed, this diminishes with age.A certain billiant winger has just joined a club on a 4 yr contact beginning in 2022.The winger will be 26 starting the contract and 30 on his final year. The fact is it is very rare to see a top class winger at at 30.The Morris bros. being the exception and on low salaries, Mansour is bad value.

Agreed. Story on Foxsports saying the dogs have gamble $4M on two wingers… madness I tells ya…

Hopefully Ivan taught Barrett how to rebuild.

      Ivan didn’t rebuild, Gus did.

They rebuilt after they sacked Ivan and he walked back into a loaded squad ready to go off.

Ivan was destroying our salary cap whilst said rebuild was taking place at penrith.

Yeah the whole scenario seems almost premeditated doesn’t it. Kneecap a rival team while secretly planning to go back to your old team, which is building itself into a real premiership threat, very nicely. Then I think to myself why spend your energies trying to derail a club like WT who are no real premiership threat in the first place? If he’d done it to Parramatta or the Roosters I could understand.

“Parra” and “premiership threat” is a contradiction of terms

      Who would have thought

Measuring from the start of the year to each state’s point of maximum lockdown—which range from April 5 to April 18—it turns out that lockdowns correlated with a greater spread of the virus. States with longer, stricter lockdowns also had larger Covid outbreaks. The five places with the harshest lockdowns—the District of Columbia, New York, Michigan, New Jersey and Massachusetts—had the heaviest caseloads

How about the northern beaches? Why don’t you stick to what has occurred locally rather than the US where the majority of the population are blinded into believing the virus is a hoax and doesn’t exist.

From someone on the Northern Beaches, there may have been a small number of sketchy PCR positives but people weren’t sick up here

      How do you know that?

I live here and I talk to lots of people including a few doctors

I live on the northern sydney beaches and have done for 40 years, the difference in attitude and general behaviour was very different during the “avalon episode” than at any time during the previous 10 months.Stop lying

More abuse, unnecessary and inaccurate as ever
And we don’t ever call it the northern sydney beaches
The difference in attitude and general behaviour was the result of the oppressive lockdowns which ruined Xmas for many in the beaches, not because people were sick

I called it the Sydney northern beaches for the obvious reason of refuting what lies you have spread and are still spreading about what happened here during the “Avalon hot spot” period and the lockdown.I know a few doctors as well and not one of them would agree with you.

I think it’s time we stopped looking at the past and who we were a generation ago and instead started looking forward.

Agreed 100%, I was saying the other day I recently turned 42, the Wests Tigers are 21. As of right now the Wests Tigers have been in my life for longer than the foundation clubs. For anyone younger than me that is the case.

Thats interesting in that this argument can also be used by those that are called dinosaurs on this forum. Take me for instance - i am 68 and followed Wests Magpies from age 8. 60 years of following rugby league - 39 of those years were following the Magpies and only 21 following WT. Maybe it puts a little perspective on why some find it harder to let go of the foundation clubs.

I am similar to you except from the Balmain side.I turn 68 in less than a month and like you i am a staunch WT supporter
