The eels have released Kelepi Tanginoa… in his teens and in NYC he was one of the standout prospects but hasn’t kicked on. Would come cheap. He is one big human and got some speed

I know nothing else about him, but check out our ISP side. I say sign him up for Reserves and who knows what after that, couldn’t hurt.

Certainly is great news. Have loads of respect for him. Bet Cowboys remember him still too from that first semi in 2005.

What’s with WT loving the kickers? Taylor, Cleary, Hodgson, all great goal kickers. Hoping something rubs off, though Lolohea looks the goods which is a nice change.

Didn’t know he was a Maggies junior, thought we got him from Eels back in the day. Good to know he was ours before that.

When the Sydney Team Merge was first touted, Parramatta & The Tigers were linked and Canterbury & West were an item.
I understand that when the Tigers went to Parra to discuss a possible merge they were shown a Baseball Cap with the Tigers Logo - The Parramatta Tigers - telling then Tigers boss John Chalk that the logo was the only thing they wanted. Well that didn’t end well. But when the Tigers & Wests came together Wests Junior Hodgo had already been approached by Parramatta & given the uncertainty you can’t blame him from jumping to a perceptively strong Parra squad. (Sounds like Tigers 2017) But he returned in 2004 to our fold and the rest is history.

Btw, this sort of comment is why I really enjoy this forum. I get to hear so many people tell me stories and little things about my beloved club that I never knew. Thanks LeichhardtTiger.
Cheers mate.

Oh I certainly don’t blame Hodgo for going to the Eels back then. It was a crazy time, and to my knowledge he had always handled himself with class.

The sort of guy who knows that it’s not skill or size that gets the team over the line, it’s bloody hard work.

Rather go for boyle. Big body on the edge would be good.

Call me greedy, but I want both.

In fact, 🙏
I’ll be happy to take the lot.

Connor Watson,
Curtis Rona,
Morgan Boyle,
Luke Lewis,
Jeremy Latimore/ Brenton Lawrence

Plus re-signing ET and Eisenhuth,
Plus coach IC finding 1 more young and very cheap player to round off the 30.

This is the year for dreaming so why not.

Last time I checked

None of us here were / Are first or reserve graders.

My very good friend is a current NRL captain and he made a very interesting comment once.

something along " The number of Fat $&^% that tell me how I should be playing is funny".

Lets be realistic in our assessment of others in an area that we are nowhere as good.

Your friend sounds like an ignorant idiot. It has been proven many times that top line players cant coach and vice versa. To write off the comments of punters because they havent “been there, done that” themselves is stupid and arrogant.

Maybe I missed it, but I didn’t see anywhere here claims that the writers said that they could do better. They (and me) are being critical of a player’s performance compared to other players.

Players should pay more attention to the fans, their public, as they are getting paid big money playing a game in the public forum, only for the benefit of the fans. Referring to fans as “fat %$%$” shows a lack or respect. Some fans lose their right to respect through their behaviour, sure, but all fans will quickly lose respect for a player who treats fans like that.

Thats Ludicris

I as a professional who has risen through the ranks should pay attention to people just cause the watch TV and listen to commentators that are employed to entertain.

If Phil Gould , Joey, Lockyer makes comments that thats different to the bloke in the street, teenager or a middle aged keyboard warrior telling whats the best way to improve.

Im just saying lets put things into perspective, This generation has a belief that " the world is entitled to hear my opinion". The Facebook Generation is led to believe that just cause we can comment, we should.

Come on gents. We are better than that.

It’s not about paying attention to people’s opinions, it’s about the rights of the fan (and everyone else) to be able to have an opinion.

Gus, Joey, Lockyer have the same right to have an opinion as the guy on the street, Not more so.

The players should only be listening to their coach anyway, none of the others, I don’t care if it is Joey or Gus, that’s the only opinion they should be listening to. They should also be respectful of everyone’s opinion and not be disrespectful to fans.

Woods was good yesterday but the 65 mins he played 2 days after Origin last week was pretty epic.

I think this is lost on people. Sure, he’s going to the bulldogs, but anyone who doubt’s his commitment to the team in 2017 need to take their blinkers off. I shudder to think what would have happened without him.

The way he dogged us for the Dogs hurt pretty bad. Left a bad taste in the mouth. He is supposed to be our captain, and he’s leaving because it got too hard for him? Because he wants to be one of the pack (with support around him) and not a leader (leading the pack) ?

He has been trying hard and probably playing well recently, and so he should. He is leading the team in metres and stats (and he is our best forward, has the most size/ strength/ skill - whichever), but he is not a true Wests Tiger. He is not a true captain. I think he only remains captain at the moment because that’s how Clearly thinks he can get the best out of him for this year, and also stripping him of the captaincy probably wouldn’t be good for the playing group.

Thats because they arent first graders.

Edwards has played over 100 games. Not sure if that’s enough games to constitute a first grader.

Every team that has won the competition in the past 20 years has used 25 players or less over the course of the season. The single most dominant reason that the Tigers aren’t competitive is that our top tier salary cap currently includes, Sironen, Simona, Ballin, Farah and Moses. That is why we have to play the Kyle Lovett’s of the world and that is why we are crap.

Thankfully, we now have a brain in Clearly and roster management will improve and we might be competitive again. But stop blaming the salary cap and TPAs… its classic blame misappropriation. Blaming tools and not the person using them.

I think mate, that you are completely right in that the WT have been terribly mismanaged. Some of the decisions to retain players and to back-end their contracts has really hurt us hard.

TPAs also though make the system lopsided and not balanced.

Both have certainly contributed to the position we’re in now. If we were great at the management decisions but had no TPAs, or had lots of TPAs but bad at the management and gave it to the wrong players, either way we’d still be in a bad position.

Our only hope for continued success is for good management, (and I will let others more experienced than me define what ‘good management’ is), and hopeful corporate sponsorship (TPAs) to come from that.

Grant, Lawrence and Aloiai in the side would mean … NO Lovett, edwards or MCK.

One can only hope.
