Daine Laurie by Thursday is the rumour going around.
Please stop I can only get so erect
When Brooks is in full control of the team he plays excellent, lays try assists and forced dropouts at will. With Benji beside him it felt like little by little he gave up the reins and became second choice for playmaking. Madge has made it known a few times that Brooksy is running the show now and i’m more than willing to eat my words later on, but we’re gonna see the return of 2018/2019 Brooks who was being thrown around for an origin jersey.
If the club is signing Naden I suggest they do it quickly before he plays first grade and Penrith remember how good he is. Wests desperately need him now.
Penrith aren’t stupid, despite us supposedly agreeing to terms with naden Panthers still hold all the leverage. It’d cost a lot to get him here early.
Swap with Cini?
Cini is developing pretty damn good and offloading him now that he’s shown his promise would be a bad move imo. I didn’t expect him to start developing as a fullback but he’s shown heaps of positives there.
The writing is on the wall for Brooks. He’s had 7 odd years to get us to finals. He needs a change, he just can’t be a dominant playmaker.
Hastings is an upgrade at a cheaper price. Can also play lock or hooker.
I don’t see the down side.
Idk about anyone else but recently it looks like doueihi has taken alot of the responsibility and pressure off of brooks to great effect. Brooks looks like he’s navigating for the team but doueihi is the one at the wheel, as well as doueihi taking alot of the general kicking duties so brooks can pick his moments. People can knock the bloke all they want, this is just one mans opinion after all, but Brooks has recorded 7 try assists in 6 rounds, a fairly good strike rate.
the only way madge is going to buy someone decent is to go to england, because no one in australia wants to play for him, what ever went wrong at souths, no one decent wants to play for him, how does a winning coach, get sacked a year later, something isnt right, lets get benji and farrah back as dual coaches, players love these two guys and they are westigers thru and thru, give them a go
Well Madge has got young talent all over the shop come over to play under him. Uto, Simpkin and Simpkins, Doueihi, Laurie, Hoffman. Madge isn’t really playing the “lets sign as much talent as possible for the first grade” game. He’s pretty much focused on young talents and building junior pathways for long term success. If we really and I mean really wanted to sign players like Naden we’d have offered 500k to him to outbid the Dogs but thats not Madges gameplan.
Bunnies fans are absolutely delusional it’s actually incredible. The amount of comments saying the NRL only did it “cause he’s aboriginal”, “wasn’t even anything in it”, “NRL are cheats suspending trell so papenhuyzen can get dally m”. Absolute scenes.
Wow, that sucks, sounds like he was going to get his move to the sharks this year before this. At least he got his contract.
Imagine the meltdown that would have happened here if we were the ones who signed him last week.
Hindsight’s a hell of a thing, shattered for McInnes but it’s a massive stroke of luck we didn’t pick him up.
Now Josh Aloiai has moved to Manly we need someone new to cut the grass. Maybe Adam Elliott is our man. Reminds me of the Wayne Carey/Anthony Stevens incident.
Lock up your daughters and hide your wives the Bulldogs are coming to town.
For those questioning his commitment and attitude after reading what his current bosses at Wigan said about him then here’s some quotes from the Salford coach and management…
So let me get this straight … you’re confirming his commitment by his tenure at 2 super league clubs
… one he left after one and a half seasons, and the other after signing an NRL contract midway through his 2nd club?
Yep sounds really committed to me.
What was your favourite fairy tale to read as a kid?
I’m all for people having an issue with the signing, but your argument here isn’t really sensible. He signed a half year contract with Salford, then he signed for a further year. He was a free agent when he left to go to Wigan and he’s playing out his contract there before moving here. He hasn’t asked for an early release and has committed to see out his contract. So your issue with him is that he saw out his contract and then moved somewhere else?
Additionally, he signed with Wigan mid year at Salford and then went on to be their best player and win Man of Steel. There hasn’t been a word about his lack of commitment in the UK except for people on this forum, which tbh seems pretty agenda driven.
So you don’t find it concerning that he hasn’t committed to any of his clubs for longer than 2 years?
Theres a difference between signing a long contract with a club and committing to one imo. From the outside looking in it seems he’s had 100% commitment wherever he’s played no matter the duration. Gave his all for Salford, raised them from being dumped as a club to grand finalists. Then once his contract was up went to Wigan and helped get them to another gf. An example of non commitment to a club you’d look at Bryce Cartwright at the titans or Milford currently at the Broncos.
The media are desperate for us to sign Finucane so next year they can say we have roster issues due to huge money tied up in a 30 year old player. The story writes itself.
Joeys a Wanker
Rather Pangai than another Tamou
Tbf i just watched the video. He didn’t say we should sign Finucane. He said we should be looking for the next Finucane. Said he doesnt know how much footy Finucane has left in him…
Just did the same. The clickbait title pisses you off then when you actually have a look all he says is for TPJ to take less and become a force under bellamy, then for us not to sign finucane on huge dollars but to find the 20 year old version floating around.
Loose cannon? Madge will get best out of him’: Tamou backs Pangai to thrive at Tigers
By Christian Nicolussi
June 18, 2021 — 6.22pm
Wests Tigers skipper James Tamou knows Tevita Pangai Jr would thrive with a change of scenery and any concerns about his discipline, on and off the field, would quickly be ironed out by “no-nonsense” coach Michael Maguire.
The Tigers first approached the Broncos six weeks ago about luring Pangai to the joint venture, only for Brisbane officials to pass.
Tevita Pangai Junior has opened up on his contract drama at Red Hill as he prepares to shop himself on the NRL market.
On Wednesday, the Broncos backflipped and told Pangai Jr he was free to find a deal elsewhere, and initially hoped the news would be kept quiet until after their 46-0 thrashing against South Sydney. Pangai himself admitted he was told on his day off to be told he could chase a deal elsewhere, even remarking in a post-match TV interview that “contracts don’t mean much these days”.
Brisbane gave Pangai’s management official permission to negotiate with rival clubs on Friday and the Tigers are viewed as the early favourites because of the interest they showed earlier this season.
Pangai is earning around $650,000 this year before the final year of his existing contract jumps closer to $800,000. Brisbane coach Kevin Walters remains hopeful of coaching his son Billy who is with the Tigers, and any swap deal with Pangai, along with any money the Broncos would pay towards the rest of his contract, would be favourable for the Tigers’ salary cap.
Pangai is one of the most devastating and explosive back-rowers in the game, but has been inconsistent and has a poor on-field disciplinary record.
He is facing a three-week ban for a crusher tackle on Cameron Murray on Thursday, an offence which would have normally carried a one-match ban had it not been for the Tongan international’s loading from previous offences.
Brait Anasta said on Thursday night’s Fox Sports coverage that the Tigers might be better chasing a senior player who is more reliable. “If I’m the Tigers, I’m looking for a player that you just know what you’re going to get every week,” Anasta added.
Given his likely unavailability for the next month, the Tigers could let the Broncos continue to pick up Pangai’s tab, or sign him now and give him three weeks in Maguire’s care.
The Tigers know Pangai is not reaching his full potential. Former Broncos coach Wayne Bennett was not subtle after Thursday’s game when he said about Pangai being told he could leave: “Well, he came here because of me, OK, he came here because he wanted to play under me, but that was taken away from him.”
Tigers officials have made a point of not wanting to publicly declare their interest in Pangai. They did so with Latrell Mitchell and Josh Addo-Carr, only for fans to feel short-changed when that pair signed elsewhere.
Tamou, however, was happy to tell the Herald that Pangai would be a welcome addition to the Tigers’ forward pack. The Tigers’ captain pointed out another Broncos forward who had his own off-field indiscretions at Red Hill, Joe Ofahengaue, had thrived with the move to Sydney and even found his way back into the Queensland Origin team.
“Sometimes players can go stale and a change of coach and scenery can bring out the best in you,” Tamou said. “[Pangai] has shown what a powerhouse he is and he’s a game-breaker when used the right way. He would be an asset to any team he goes to.
“Every club is always on the lookout for a player of his calibre.
“If he is a bit of a loose cannon, ‘Madge’ [Maguire] will get the best out of him. Madge is a no-nonsense type of coach and I could see him working out well here.
$650 going up to $800 next year…!No wonder Broncos have cap problems…and they wanted Fifita at $1.1mil too…
Factoring all risks, particularly that hes likely to miss half a dozen games next year unless he improves his discipline on and off the field, hes not really worth what hes being paid THIS year,so will be an interesting negotiation.
Not sure how Walters Jnr is a factor as hes off contract this year and free to go…?And very welcome to btw…if he hasnt shown anything at 27 its just not there.
Surely if we get TPJ onboard we’ll have a formidable pack that wont get rolled like Eels did to us?
After TPJ,our priority s/b a quality centre…or two.JTJ/Giddart/Talau are all maybes at best.
Billy Walters is a factor in an immediate trade for Pangai as we currently wouldn’t let him go for nothing before the end of the year. Might even manage to force the Broncos to chip in more of TPJs salary moving forward which according to the media the Broncos will be doing anyway.
Rule # 1: Never buy Bulldogs rejects.
Rule # 2: If you forget the rule, or think something is tempting, refer to Rule # 1.
DWZ is Isaako with better hands, sub par fullback but decent winger. You wouldn’t want him because he’s from the dogs but I’d rather jag DWZ for 300k than Isaako from the just as bad broncs who would likely cost more.
A few on report, not sure how its gonna go down judiciary wise
Also not sure how fit mbye will be , and i think mikaele will be out for 1-2 games imo
Tuki simpkins comes on for him, and i guess madden comes back in for mbye
Mbye is supposedly ok according to the club and the NRL Physio. Mikaele would be the injury worry since there’s been nothing but silence on how he’s pulled up. Judiciary will be a coin toss, a lot of the reports we’re soft but you never know with the NRL.
There’s a lot of grunt sitting on that bench.
It will be minus Blore as he’ll come into the starting side for Lucy
Given that i can’t even remember the shoulder charge and nobody else seems to be able to either i wouldn’t count out Luciano yet
Well done Jacob
Congrats to @Russell
Russell managed negotiations well for Jacob
So does that mean the Rorters are after Simpkin now Liddle has re-signed for 2 more years…?
Simpkin re-signed ages ago til 2024 I think
Esan Marsters released by cowboys & sings with titans
Interesting, I wonder who the Cowboys have in mind to fill a roster spot?
Dearden is my first guess. Mbye 2nd.
From what some cowboys fans think, townsend and drinkwater will make up the halves and dearden will only be an understudy. They also seem to think they snagged dearden for only 300k a season.
Esan Marsters released by cowboys & sings with titans
looks like they’re keen to leak more points
Esan played quite well at WTs especially under Cleary.
Couldn’t defend to save his life, lazy player. When he put in he was a hard man to stop
All the titans supporters are going “I reckon Holbrook can get the best out of him its great signing”. Sounds way too familiar.
