With what has been debated as ET’s impact in attack being far less effective than his defensive impact I think it is a no brainer for ET to start at hooker. 30 mins to take the sting out of the game than allow Liddle to come into the game at his own pace. This can go on until Liddle adapts to 80mins.
ET has a great pass on him and in that stage of the game there is no running options available for a hooker as the defence is very tight. Let him get sharp ball to the forwards and halves and then bring Liddle on mid way through the game to scheme his way around the ruck.
I base this on my opinion that ET has a slight edge in defence over Eiso at Lock but ET has a massive edge over Godinet in defence In the middle. In attack Eiso posses a better attacking threat that ET at lock and I think ET can’t be much worse than Godinet at hooker in regards to delivery and reading a game.
Our forwards are the envy of the league and they don’t even know it yet.
I agree. Certainly the front row at least, but the backrow have been very handy.
Twal and Eisenhuth seem to have the same output and effectiveness irrespective of the level of opposition. Alex’s numbers against the kangaroos in the WC were pretty much his intrust numbers and NRL numbers copy and pasted. Likewise this year is a copy and paste of last year despite the lack of trials.
Calling them plodders basically means the 15 minutes before and after half time aren’t important and jack Buchanan types wiuld be good enough, but in the past we lost most games in this period.
If our form changes I would be thinking about starting Twal at 10 or Eisenhuth at 13.
I’m taking into account the experience, the potential the depth of similar ability and the blend if youth and experience.
Every other coach, club and it’s supporters would love to have on hand that which we do currently.
Another blinder from Jac after Marty’s performance on Friday.
All these players lost to try to keep guys who are leaving.
Can you stop, neither Taupau or JAC had anything to do with retaining the footballers who are now leaving. Taupau took a much bigger offer at Manly that we couldn’t match, JAC signed before Tigers had made him an offer.
I know there is no place for sentiment but if there was one player I would like to see have a massive year its Lawrence. He is a bloke who always puts the club first, quality person on and off the field and a guy who has not had much luck
Hear! Hear! I don’t think any of us would begrudge him that. He is still a bit of a work in progress in the pack, but I’m so glad he has been able to resurrect his career by moving into the second row. It would’ve been a real travesty having to watch him struggle at centre, a shadow of his former self, for the rest of his playing days. He would’ve been a regular in Origin if not for bad injuries at such crucial times.
Cost Knights today.
Thought of 2010 PF 12 all with 8 to go and the penalty that should’ve been awarded to us would have got us another premiership.
Easts wouldn’t have got lucky again against us in GF not even with Anasta there. :roll
Not that it matters, but there wasn’t a penalty in that final tackle against the Dragons. Just another crap call by crap referees.
Lots of players get into dummy half during a game. The hooker can’t be there everytime.
It’s not like ET has never done it before.
A professional footballer should be able to pass the ball or choose to hold it.
It was a bad decision that was made from the coach. I think with hindsight that is pretty clear. I also think it was clear prior to the game being played.
Maybe so. But he could make those passes while playing lock.
Would people be so forgiving of the player if it was Halatua who threw them?
Probably not. Can you imagine if it was Robbie.
Anyway the point is that JT had a plan to play more forwards by playing ET at dummy half and it was a poor decision.
I would have been right up Farah if it was him. Lol
Poor decision from JT tho, agreed.
I’d rather keep Taupau and release Sironen and Lovett.
And keep Blair who had very good last year with us offloading to Tedesco running through middle and release Lawrence and Halatau.
And Cherrington and Ballin can go as well.
See with Tapau Blair and Thompson we had 3 guys who were internationals and rarely missed a game. Watching Tapau and Burgess go at it last week and seeing Taupau smash Burgess force an error and nearly won the game for Manly missing many players
It’s almost laughable that Sironen and Lovett could be preferred over anyone. But that’s our club for you
As for Tapau, he’s going well according to every one , except some on here who want to hold a grudge about him leaving for a better offer.
But our “retention” policy is alive and well. Ours is a popgun pack and will stay like it until we get some money into the club.
Sue typifies us , tries hard, has a good game occasionally, then goes missing for a few weeks.yet he’s held up here by some, as some sort of enforcer of the pack.
Got to be kidding. Mediocrity is alive and well.
Why is it that some do not want Taupau back - and instead of the reason being he was not good enough for us, couldn’t last 80 minutes for us, gave away heaps of cheap penalties, got himself suspended etc.
No it is none of these things - we have a grudge.
Wake up - make your statements instead of having cheap shots at other posters like your hero Taupau.
Well Russ, anyone with a TV can see he’s one of Manlys best at the moment , playing plenty of minutes and fitter than ever, Getting credit from most quarters for the improved effectiveness. And more importantly he’s playing better than anyone that we have.
And he’s NOT soft.
Any thing else needed.
There are plenty of grudges here , because he doesn’t, Love the WestsTigers,“. “wants more money”. " got a big head”
I couldn’t care less what he thinks about any of those things.
I’d just like to see him or someone like him that actually scares the opposition team, even just a little bit.
Cause we sure as hell don’t have anyone like that here !!
Oh, that’s right, we have Sue. You must be kidding.
I think patience is the key , i have no doubt we will be there dancing in a year or 2 , and Moltzen is here next year , last year on his contract.
Moltzen? He has no chance of playing first grade next season or any other.
Anyone who thinks Moltzen is a first grade footballer seriously has no idea .
i don’t know if your trying to refer to me with you saying "Anyone who thinks Moltzen is a first grade footballer seriously has no idea " but my reply was with the original thread stating that Moltzen is still contracted to us next year . i have never said i rated Moltzen as a 1st grader 😒
Here is the Original thread from the 1st page in case you didn’t start reading it from there:
Lets face it.
The club is at a crossroads. We need to be semi final bound next year.
And is Brooks and Moses the pair to take us there? Brooks looks good enough as half now but his service to backs and kicking game is not quite there yet.
And Moses looks exciting but can he organize backs and is his defence up to it or with the free money Anasta,Moltzen and Fulton departures provide go for a gun 5/8.
If the club chooses wrong we miss semis for a couple years at least.
