BJ and Brian To’o would be valuable pick ups, that is if JAC ends up at the Roosters!

  1. David Nofoaluma
  2. BJ Leilua
  3. Talau
  4. Brian To’o

Now that’s got some serious strength and some pace their too - To’o and Nofa are quite quick

For me Brian To’o is a Nofa clone, only younger.
Yes we need speed but also size on the flanks to impose ourselves on opposition. Unless you are talking JAC and good luck with that one.

They let go chambers and curtis Scott they couldn’t have cap problems

That’s what I was thinking! Croft and Vunivalu went as well and I don’t think they’ve signed anyone of note, so I can’t see how they’d be having cap issues.

Cam Smith signed a one year extension for $1,500,000
That’s why he took so long to sign on for another year because Storm knew they would need to release players
Highest paid player in history now
Now storm are struggling with the cap
Thats how

Let’s see if this rumour spreads 🤥

There’s also the substantial upgrade for Paps to consider. They are at the ceiling with still spots to fill … so unlikely they can afford any new high priced contracts … but with deep pocket clubs like the storm, bunnies, Broncos and Roosters, … you just never know?

Telegraph reporting Sharkies are shopping Josh Duggan has 2 years to run on 750k contract probably freeing space to upgrade XERRI.
Would he be a good pick up with Sharkies paying part of the contract if we miss AD

Let’s cut out the middle man and go straight for Xerri.

Now that would be a great pickup. Speed, strength and youth.
Top notch with young age potential Certain to lead higher honours. I’d pay 1/2 mill for him … no question about that.

all this talk about nut jobs & Bj’s… jeez grow up people

Gee I think I’ve stoped growing quite a while back my friend.
Back on subject … why do you reckon our forwards get continually dominated? It’s not fitness, it’s not application or game plan or coaching. It’s lack of that one missing ingredient.
Not a nut job player but one that has that winning attitude.
My avatar brings that person to mind.

It’s really something that’s missing in our teams … lack of a players with mongrel and anger and showing genuine pain at being beaten. Too many nice guys players too afraid to express themselves and dominate on the paddock.
Yes BJ has some problems in his game but mate, he brings what we need in spades. We thought that Packer ant Matulino would bring that aspect to our forwards but unfortunately I have not seen that eventuate.
So from me it’s a big yes … and hopefully if Packer doesn’t get his old game to the table then our forwards need a (BJ) similar wrecking

I can see many people on here still giving it to the club for not having a major signing yet…I tend to sit back and wait until something positive is released by the club, when that is,I don’t know…
From seeing what is going on atm,I honestly believe that Madge and co don’t want to make the same mistakes like in the past;I also believe that with so many young guys in the system atm,Madge seems to want to create from within…I remember when we had some great young players when Sheens was here and he got that legend Gareth Ellis to the club, that was great…maybe Madge is working on the same formula as it seems to work for us…just my opinion though…

The biggest mistake is to do nothing, even a poor mistake is an attempt to fix the problem we have. But saying this, we just need to limit our exposure, spending $500k to attempt to fix a significant hole is in my view, worth it.

Doing nothing fixes nothing

Matulino, McQueen, Reynolds, Packer and Jennings can be classified As our recent costly mistakes. And for me we can perhaps add Mbye and Taylor to that list. Having Smith and McIntyre also clogging up our $s and top 30 list sure begs a question … how many costly mistakes can we afford to make.

Hey Momo, agreed this is a real issue and that’s why I said to limit our exposure.
Sorry mate … missed that

Firstly I think Matulino was value and not a mistake, and it was only injury that brought him to a premature end , however he is part of the reason we have surplus now.
I agree McQueen and Reynolds were mistakes, however only because we paid too much.
Packer and Jennings, may turn things around this year, as Packer was very good in 2018, and Jennings had no real preseason in 2019 and both looking a lot better for this season.
Mbye, also had a good season 2018 and seemed to be carrying an injury last year, but was still good enough to play Origin.
Taylor has been good for us for many years, stayed loyal, plays any position which is required, and always give 100%. One of our best defenders.
As for Smith and Mcintyre, they are not clogging up our $, there on minimum contracts, were part of our developement program, and who knows may step up this year, I say give them a chance to prove themselves.

However to spend $500K on AD I would think ok, but if they decided not to , I would understand that as well. Getting the new forward from Parramatta, and JAC would be more of a priority, and having one more place unfilled may benefit us in June.

Agree with all you say about possible improvements and all those players may prove us wrong this year. And I know that the club was desperate at the time to improve our roster. However my point is high $s for them and Mats (who the club knew was high risk medically) is a mistake we should not repeat. All I’m saying is that I support the club in their current approach to recruitment.
As far as Smith and McIntyre I realise they are not on huge contracts but they are taking spots without really showing any improvement on the paddock in the past 12 months. Now they are young players and nothing would make me happier then if they have breakout season. But on current form they are just making up the numbers and I would be happier if they were on CC contracts trialing for NRL places.

I think we should offer Moses Mbye (current origin winger/centre) for JAC

I very much doubt that Melbournes Cap problems could support his current salary … even thought it’s still partly subsidised by the Bulldogs.
