We will be a very different team next year. We have a strong forward rotation + an experienced 5/8 who can competently defend. Brooks has excelled when he has had an experienced half who doesn’t try to overrule him. Say whatever you want about Anasta but Brooks looked like the next Andrew Johns when he played along side him.
Manly makes sense in the fact that Pearce could easily be lured to the Northern Beaches, but partnering with DCE wouldn’t be the best fit. They both are very similar sort of players, both halfbacks which main talent is in their running game. I don’t think it would work.
Pearce would be great for us but then we would have a sizeable chunk of our salary cap tied up in players not playing in their best position. I’d rather see Pearce go to another club, force a quality back rower or outside back out and then we snare that player up.
I thought the exact same for a while. Cronk struck me as a guy who would want a new challenge. He has literally achieved everything there is in Rugby League on multiple occasions. What is the point of going to a club like the Roosters? They have no real fans, no real heart, they are just a glamour club who are close to buying another premiership…
Then I remembered he played at Melbourne his entire career. He doesn’t care about fairytales or real challenges. He will take the easy route to another premiership ring.
