When I started this thread I expected we would see 2 Penrith Players charged. But no we see Joey get 4 weeks and no one from Penrith charged despite 2 of our players off the field with injuries sustained by contact to the head .Absolute disgrace.
I too enjoyed the Tooves rant song. That bloke’s passion was amazing. Pity he played for Manly. Like him now though.
The Napa incident is a valid comparison to what happened to McIntyre. The hit on LL while probably not intentional was careless contact at least.
The hit on LL was no accident he was low on the ground attempting to secure the ball Api comes in with the swing arm that hits him on the chin all he had to do was fall on LL to make the tackle no need to swing the arm as long as the NRL continues to allow "accidental "contact with the head the more it will happen
Point taken Elderslie. What you said makes sense.
Two of the Tigers forwards forced from the field after high shots apparently no where near as bad as a half hearted clip to the head that did not result in any injury or loss of game time yet will cost the perpetrator suspension of 4-6 weeks. Have the Penrith players responsible for the high shots been reported. If so it will be interesting to see what penalties are imposed.
I was part of a group at the Lidcombe Catholic Club shortly after Ned was sent off in the first minutes of a test match where he recounted the incident. He said he saw the Aust.5/8 on the ground with his eyes spinning around like that poker machine with the NZ front rower standing over him. He said he couldn’t help himself and left the field with the NZ front rower prone on the ground. This was typical of him. Most of his misdemeanours were retaliation.
Another funny incident was when on a kangaroo tour of France the French Ref was prewarned and determined to send Ned off but mistook Ian Walsh for Ned saying in broken English “Kelly off”.
Despite all this he was a true gentleman off the field.
Thanks for the memories Ned .RIP.
