HOT TAKE: Ivan leaving the Tigers was one of the best things that ever happened to the club.

RE: Wests Tigers re-sign Zane Musgrove till 2024
Also doesn’t endear clubs to the idea of these special games if players get suspended from them. Who cares if Maori win? End of the day he misses three games and it could impact our season to an extent. He should be unavailable for selection in the next three rep rounds. A lot fairer. It wasn’t an NRL game.
RE: Benji Marshall
At the awards night it was interesting that Benji thanked Ivan for bringing him back and didn’t mention Madge at all. Again Maguire loses the dressing room so it would be a brave club to extend his contract when players are going backwards and recruitment of top players is non existent during his 2 years.
Clap, clap, clap. Who are the big name recruits in the previous years? Packer? Reynolds? McQueen? Matulino? Ballin? They’ve just set the world on fire, haven’t they? Big names ain’t always better especially if the ability level no longer matches the ego.
We’ve recruited Tamou and will likely get JAC. Douehi was good this year. LL was outstanding. McIntyre really came on.
Lastly, nearly all of us only care about Benji the amazing player, not the diva/media personality. He can shut his trap now the career is over and he only seems to have one take anyway: talking about his (former) ‘beloved’ club.
RE: Round 1 Thoughts
That is a crazy big and talented Raiders team. We aren’t in their class.
But we weren’t that bad. We won’t play teams that huge every week and we won’t be as fatigued as a result.
I take a lot of heart in the recruitment. Our best and brightest today were all recruited on Maguire’s watch.
RE: Pascoe Held to Account
Thanks for sharing.
- COE done Dec 2021 or Jan 2022
- will observe contract w Bankwest until its done (but sounded like they won’t after that).
- our social media accounts are envied by many other clubs
- 2nd best away attendance figures and 3rd to 4th best home attendance, again alluded to sleeping giant fanbase
- roster decisions are made by committee
-Wests Tigers Foundation has been very successful
- roster emphasis on stability through resignings and acquisition of excellent young players (specifically mentioned Stefano, Blore, Simpkin, AD, Nofa, BJ, LL, Liddle)
- Maguire very committed to turning things around
- COE will be the only one to have community access (ie. should generate considerable cash)
- club has increased Maguire’s coaching budget to include more high performance staff
RE: Signing Suggestions & Rumours
The nrl really can’t change the sizes of squads at this late stage. Would be highly unethical… Many clubs have already filled 80-90% of their 30man rosters. Had they known rosters would be smaller certain contracts would never have been signed.
They’ve already acted unethically in introducing major changes to the rules mid season. The money is still there for clubs, why on earth would they make drastic changes now when clubs have no flexibility to respond.
If they want to change squad sizes it must be for the 2022 season. That would be fair. Anything else is madness.
But then Vlandys is a dictator and like Trump he’ll use his toxic power to make up the rules as he goes.
Oh yeah, V’landys is the worst. I can’t believe he evn got the competition going again. What a fool. Please bring back Greenberg. He led this game to a golden era. Or maybe Gallop. Hasn’t he done such a magnificent job with the A-League. Let’s all pretend that the coaches, media and owners haven’t run the game into the ground for the past 15 years by pushing their own agendas.
RE: Luke Brooks
Well done Luke, good to bounce back and remind everyone you’re NRL quality.
That said, I think most of us expect that level EVERY week. The forward pack clearly gave him something to work with and he did what he was supposed to. Far less running and a much more controlled game.
RE: This Forum Endorses #KeepBenji
Huh? I thought this forum was for supporters of the Wests Tigers football club, not simply Benji Marshall. He’s a great, not just of the team but the game. But no player is bigger than the club and the club has made its decision.
And if he gets another contract, then what if we tell him next season is his last? This nonsense all over again?
RE: Wests Tigers sign Asu Kepaoa till 2023
Madge debuts a kid which results in a flogging and doesn’t give him the opportunity to redeem himself the following week against a wooden spoon side.
Asu has shown more determination & effort in 1 game then both Mybe & Talau combined for the season, both of whom are pedestrians at times and have no go forward.
While Talau hasn’t done much wrong, from what I’ve seen he lacks the agility to break games open from the backline. Atleast Joey is hard to handle, offloads and has a decent burst of pace off the mark.
Bulldogs game was the perfect opportunity to give him another run. We have Rooster, Penrith then Manly.
Manly game would be the ideal game to slot him back in. If we lost next 2, then it should be all about the youngsters moving forward.
You do realise Talau is barely an adult? He’s 20. What do you expect of him? He’s had a really good rookie year and any comparison to a seasoned vet like BJ is ridiculous.
Asu has been with the club like two weeks and is also 20. He’ll get his shot.
RE: Leilua Floored by ‘Biggest Spray’ of Career
lol at the Cam Smith point. Makes me think now that Reynolds should have stayed down when Latrell dogged him. We would have got the penalty for sure.
NRL has a diving issue, I hate to say it. Even though Cam Murray wasn’t hurt he lay down on Friday because he knew the tackle was wrong. And once the replay was complete and the penalty blown he was magically back on his feet.
