Poor bugger. Hope upward and onward and all the best.

Don’t think I’ve missed anything by skipping the last 100 pages of this thread have I? Seems we ended up where a lot expected we would.

Very cool down here today. A touch of rain this afternoon. Ridiculously thick smoke all day long and a blanket of ash like I’ve never seen. We get the feeling that things are easing somewhat, although the fire approaching Eden went a long way in a very short time and if that continues, things could get interesting. Hoping for a few more repeats of today. I have to say, the feeling of it being midnight in the middle of the day is a very strange feeling indeed.

These firies are bloody incredible aren’t they?

Does anyone have any news about Sussex Inlet. My mother lives there and I can’t get hold of her.

Keeping a close eye on the fires near me page and to be honest mate, the area is looking pretty nasty. Hope things work out for you and your mum. I’m guessing that infrastructure burn out would affect communications. Best wishes to you

We’ve moved into Bega. Will be defending the house at Kalaru against ember attack, but with the forecast winds, we’ll be getting out and back to town if it looks like turning real nasty. The waiting game is a long-winded one. But fortunately, we have a waiting game. Places like Cobargo weren’t offered that luxury.

Just stay safe bro …no need being a hero to save property.

And that’s the other issue people just can’t imagine what the worst case scenario is …far worse than anyone can possibly imagine or be prepared for

I have no intertest in heroism mate - trust me. I’d be the Darius Boyd of fire fighters.

Interesting that luvvies suddenly lost all interest in Abbott? They must be busy reporting of Zali, Albo, Tanya, Sea-Patrol, Di Natale, and Penny heroic sacrifices?

This post is crazy.

It’s hard to be grateful the weather has aided your situation when you know that others have had to deal with a bloody nightmare because of the same weather pattern. Thoughts are with everyone dealing with this disaster currently.

On watch here down in Kalaru. Awful to hear of the fire that’s caused so much damage in Cobargo to the north and down in Victoria. The potential of what may lay ahead is frightening around Bermagui. We’ve packed up the caravan and taken it to town, but are back to readying to defend. The skies are orange and dark grey, the wind has dropped and the smoke is choking. It’s a crazy scene. Blazes north and south of us. So we have hoses at the ready, gutters plugged, trees and plants trimmed ground dampened, shed cleared of oil, fuel etc. Cars packed…just the horses and dogs to go. So now we sit and wait. A new years eve like no other ahead.IMG20191231114425.jpg IMG20191231113438.jpg IMG20191231112425.jpgIMG20191231113721.jpg
