I live in Tahmoor, so in the south-west and we neighbour Bargo, Buxton, Couridjah, Balmoral etc. it’s like ground zero at the moment. yesterday there were cars backed up in both directions trying to evacuate until the roads were closed. there’s choppers and planes flying over our head at any given moment, and the smoke haze and the red glow is so very close. the firies haven’t slept in days and are doing a fantastic job, and it’s a credit to them plenty of homes have been saved. we aren’t in an area at this point that isn’t in any serious danger, but as you guys can probably work out it can all change in a second. long summer coming up

Take care. The only thing that can be done at this point to halt the widespread devastation is rain and a good amount of it.

I am not going to get political with blame at this point and certainly not in this thread, though will make one observation. That being, that there needs to be an instant sizable injection of federal monies to further fund these efforts, with an immediate one off bonus centrelink payment similar to farmer’s or fire affected ones, paid to each and every one of the volunteers. They can dot the i’s and cross the t’s later as the fire season has already been as long as usual, yet we are only 3 weeks into summer.

Whilst I whole heartedly agree, I wouldn’t hold my breath if I was you. This type of event is a blip on the radar of a lot of pollies.

NRL will take no action against David Fifita and the Brisbane Broncos over an incident in Bali last month that resulted in the 19-year-old spending time in a jail cell. NRL said evidence was inconclusive and they were satisfied with actions of Broncos.

No surprise whatsoever.

John Gray, Ken McCaffery and Brian Carlson were a few more handy players that I remember well.

Bloody hell Russell …how bloody old are you

Did you and Geo build the pyramids together

Unfortunately or fortunately I saw those guys play “Live” not on old videos. Just coming up to a 70 year “Tiger supporter” Hap.

That’s a lot of heart attacks let me tell ya!

You may have seen my uncle then. Peter Diversi. Im not old enough to have seen him play, but we used to go to games there when he was coaching Norths reserves. Beautiful ground to the eye. Not so much for the skin and bones I believe.

Grain of salt then. Mannah was a whispering Wehbe disciple and we know there was a major falling out there.

I don’t suppose anything implicates Tedesco ‘s dealings

Not the Golden boy.

Hard not to be excited about 2020…a benchie
from the dragons and a average NRL winger come fullback. Bring it on

Whoo hoo! Isn’t it great to finally have some cash to splash around?

All this rubbish disappeared a long time back until magpies1963 started on about jersey colours or an apparent lack of respect regarding them. All utter bulldust.

Bring Ado Carr home and i will go to leichardt and Campbelltown more often , he is a game attraction and would bring in bigger crowds just by the expectation of exciting play

I’d consider him to be the modern day Larry Corowa.

Anyone have any news on whether the slimey grubs will release  Stefano Utoikamanu for 2020??

No news but if the young fellow has the potential to lose significant $ because he is on a development contract at the Eels, you would believe there would be etiquette to release him unless our offer can be matched for a year.

@pawsandclaws1 he is on about $70k atm right??

I read $60k which is a huge difference. I can’t fathom how the Eels can retain him unless our offer can be matched for a year.

I can. He has a contract and they are holding him to it. Any club can do it when someone under contract starts whinging about mental health issues, coaching their son, or not liking their current role.

Making an example of one person sends a message to others under contract that may be looking elsewhere, much the same as releasing the first whinging player makes others realise that they are free to look around.

The difference is he’s on an amateur contract. He can’t play nrl until 3/4 of the season is done. So they’re cutting his earning ability by 2/3 and denying him the chance to play first grade, something they can’t offer. That’s not how you treat young players.

If he were on an nrl contract or would be a bit different, as he could still offer the nrl side something. But he can’t. And they have no incentive to push him to be the best when they have other young junior rep props they can focus on instead.

This is why the Tigers have signed so many of there juniors … the way they are being treated by that grub of a club …

The problem is that the player is happy to sign an amateur contract - I’d suggest even thrilled to sign with a view to what lies ahead. But as soon as something bigger and better comes along, they’re no longer happy. The original contract should stand so the club isn’t disadvantaged. No matter the club, no matter the player. If all agree to break the agreement, cool. If the club isn’t prepared for whatever reason, then that’s their prerogative and it shouldn’t be held against them. It’s just business. Everyone’s entitled to look after their own best interests.
