Neither here nor there about Douehi havnt seen him play enough and when I did it was at half. I do know paying overs for up and coming players usually ends up with expectation that they can’t live up to. No good for player or club. Glad it’s not me having to make these decisions.

Latest story (rumour) I just saw on Zerotackle is Johnston and Douehi to Storm for Addo-Carr.

Aw man I hope not. That’s believable too.

I realise that’s a rumour but that’s brilliant move by South’s if they pull that one off. The only thing is If Melbourne are prepared to absorb Douehi’s and AJ contracts but they have plenty of spots available and they are the sort of players Bellamy likes.

Being a red hot fan doesn’t mean you have to be silent and blind about your clubs short fillings and our club has had plenty. Looking at our roster at present I don’t like our chances in 2020, but with three gaps to fill that could change a tad, but I don’t expect to much. Anyway football clubs are like governments, if the majority of their voters and supporters blindly accept their policies, they will never change them.
Just my two bobs worth…but I am a fanatical supporter but also a realist

Well said. You can be passionate about the success of the club whilst also being critical. Doesn’t make you less of a fan.

There also has to be some objectivity about where the club is at presently and where it has come from.
Blind Freddy knows that to be successful on the field you need to be financially sound off it. You can’t have one without the other. So to be so dismissive of those improvements as if they are insignificant, stinks of someone with a cross to bare rather than someone who wants to discuss things rationally. Blanket blaming is a cop out and identifies nothing - “the club” we have at the moment is nothing like “the club” it was 5 years ago and nor are the people making the decisions.

Plenty of teams have not filled their top 30 spots yet. There will be more movement yet.

No one knows what anyone is getting paid and therein lies the problem with the system.

Can anyone explain how the Roosters have $1mill to spend with ALL their talent and no one bats an eyelid. And you wonder why we can’t sign any quality players with the way the salary cap works.

In seasons past we have all asked that question, but they’ve just lost Mitchell, Cronk and Tetevano for this season with only Flanagan signed as a replacement - they would have more than enough in the coffers to sign JAC.

It’s not who they lost Spud it’s who they have still got with still $1mill to spend -Tedesco JWH Keary Manu Crichton Cordner Radley Morris Tupou just off the top of my head all rep players and some of the best young talent coming through…we have all just become accustomed to accepting it. Flannagan is one the best young talents in the game he didnt go there for crumbs. Of course we are no hope of getting JAC if they want him.

For a club that reportedly doesn’t need to move on any players their seems to be plenty of talk about moving on their players! And if Douehli is on $500k it’s not so surprising.

The POM said Madge met with AJ twice…

Madge has wanted AJ for a while.

Madge is his old coach.

AJ is off contract and thus needs a big year…Souths FB spot is gone and wing spots he is depth only.

Despite all that, he does not want to come.

Again, is it a recruitment issue or simply a ridiculous run of bad luck. We have tried for DWZ…:Moylan…Lomax…Lattrell…AJ…

That is a LOT of fullbacks to try for and fail.

He didn’t say that actually… he said there have only been phone calls that have taken place, no one has met anyone.

Well he said Madge has spoken to him twice. Regardless, obviously Madge wants AJ.

So, why have we have missed out again? That makes five…five!!!..FBs we have targeted and missed. People seem to act like there is no issue.

Ha -@ElleryHanley you should work in the media.
What do you consider is targeting - just so I know how we missed out on them. Contracts offered?

If you want to believe we have not tried to get a FB mate then go ahead and believe it.

DWZ clear
LM clear
Lomax The Pom said was very close…

But go ahead and believe what you want.

So you could say that in the case of Latrell Mitchell the Bulldogs Cowboys and Titans all missed out on him too because they all had more than just a chat.
If it is considered missing out on a player when a discussion is had then all clubs are going to miss out more than they will score. That I believe.

I think your missing Ellery’ point if we make contact or approach a player it
must be that we are interested in them, and we have asked about all the players he has mentioned. But it seems there not interested in us I’m with Ellery on this one

Havnt missed the point at all. All clubs are having conversations with players/managers without securing a contract - often instigated by managers first. To infer there is something wrong with our club because we don’t secure a player after a discussion, is hardly unique to our club. How do you know that we were not interested in what the player wanted because we didn’t think he was worth it and we lost interest?
If manager’s are instigating contact and we are saying no ok there’s a reason for that ,but when the coach is taking to them and they say no thanks there as to be a reason

So much stuff we are not privy to you can’t just put it down to missing out because of the players choosing not to come .Managers know we have money and they know what we need. The last thing we need is another Josh Reynolds signing. Managers work on behalf of players Maguire and Hartigan negotiate on behalf of the club. A discussion about a player may go no further than the manager even before a player gets wind of it.
