      TIGERS POACH TALENTED AUCKLAND TRIO
Wests Tigers have raided the Warriors’ heartland, signing three fine young prospects from Auckland.

All 18, Jarney Proctor (hooker/halfback), Tamehana Paruru (back-rower) and Tray Lolesio (prop) are Aucklands Manurewa Marlins juniors and had several NRL clubs on their trail.

But the trio decided their best chance of a pathway to the NRL was with the Tigers and will link up with the club in coming weeks for pre-season training.

All are probably 12 months or more off breaking into the NRL but have the talent to be great buys for the club in the long term.

We need a fullback. Some real positives with the performances of Douehi Kepu and Talau. Unlike most I felt strangely optimistic about the squad after last night. We have a few hurdles to overcome to get the squad we need but there is plenty of room for growth with our squad and they know how to find the try line.
No Mybe BJ Packer and Reynolds on the field last night and when you measure how much they take of the cap and we matched the team that ran third- it gives the performance far more perspective for me.

    • RE: JAC

Whether you rate Nofa or not - he is not the player to move on especially atm. We seem to have developed a perception of treating players poorly. Nofa is one of the few that openly displays his allegiance to the club giving him the tap in hope to sign JAC would only add fuel to that school of thought. JAC/manager will find a way to play with us if he really wants to - not at the expense of Nofa.

I’d take Potter’s and JT’s roster over this current roster everyday of the week. Woods Tapau Teddy Austin Simona Moses JAC Sirro Farah - nucleus of really good side. Cleary and Maguire better coaches with a poorer squad.

No excuses for Matterson. He has played his best footy with us and doesn’t give a hoot. The club would have accommodated him financially and all he has done is try to discredit the club and coach to advance his own desires.

Interesting that reform for perpertraters of violence get a second chance yet Tim Simona can’t for a gambling addiction, that the game itself profiteers from.

Only one team can win a premiership each year and it takes more than a half back of any standard to achieve it. Should every team that is not successful be moving on their half backs because they havnt led their team to a premiership? If halfback was the only identified weakness in our squad well then I could see some merit but when people are scratching to identify who is better to replace him the logic seems nonsensical.

All I witnessed tonight was a good game of footy. Parramatta lucky to get away with it but can’t bag our team after that performance.

Can’t afford to get attached to players - loyalty only lasts as long as there manager telling them they can get more for them elsewhere. The only good thing about losing Teddy makes losing any other player a breeze.

I’d say the Brisbane wingers did well because most points scored against their team were up the middle.

      Your on fire today TT

Thanks Happ - on holidays and feeling relaxed.

I think it’s hard on Harry to dismiss his serviceability given he played 60+ minutes on 13 occasions, essentially in his debut year.

Meanwhile, with Liddle it’s no doubt he has good service, but he has only played 3 games at 60+ minutes in the past 5 seasons.

Fatigue plays a huge part in service quality IMO and obviously I have heard Liddle is super fit, but I’m saying that Grant isn’t a slouch either.

Time will tell and don’t get me wrong, I do rate what I’ve seen of Liddle, though I would be cautious expecting the same quality service as he gives in a 30 minute stint and a 60+ minute stint.

Add the additional workload in defence Grant was forced to endure not sure Liddle could endure that and hope he doesnt have to . HG’s game at Melbourne should be quite different too. Plenty of go forward, with a spine we would all love to have. It was a tough intro to FG at our club for Harry and I have nothing but admiration for how he played.

That’s why Context is King. Stats without it is how you end up with players like Robert Jennings on your roster.

Certainly in this case. Corey Oates had a very poor year- imo - and shouldn’t feature at the top of any stats sheets based on positive performance.

I still dont understand how anyone can confidently rate - or not rate Liddle for that matter - as a FG DH. Yep have seen some good things from him in short spurts, but until he cements the position and consistently plays it’s all just wishful thinking. Hope he fires this year but comparing him to any other DH at this point seems premature.Looking forward to 2021 to solve the argument once and for all.

Pretty sure a few of us suggested we stick it to Ivan by offering crazy money to Crichton a while back when he baulked at the handshake deal.

    • RE: Benji Marshall

I think every coach knows with Benji that he is too connected to the media and he likes to talk. Not a normal situation for a player who is in a squad as a backup demanding so much media focus. His skills/price are probably attractive to most clubs it’s just all the other stuff you have to take on board with it.

We’re going to need some new players to speculate over now Allan, Sorensen, and Mansour’s future has been decided.
How’s McInnes going, did he catch up with Madge again?

We need some lookouts at the local cafes near concord, seems to be Madge and hartigan favourite spot

“Organica” - sponsor’s - and WTs staff there regularly.

Maybe if we did that on both accounts, players like Teddy, JAC and Pap would still be here.

We could have kept JAC and Pap but we didn’t make the right decisions. We offered Tedesco a fortune. We easily offered him as much as the Rorters did. He just wanted out because he is a piece of work.

He took his mum to the Dally M award night! He’s a good guy focussed on his career. WT need to learn a lesson from those events and become the club where players can have an optimistic view of achieving their personal ambitions. It’s not rocket science, and if we had good people ourselves who cared more about the future of the club, than they did about their own self importance, then we would be that club today, already.

Agree. Tedesco made a smart decision and pretty sure the only people who would question that are WTs supporters with blinkers on.Unfortunately for us we had a champion player at the club when we were at our lowest point. Teddy leaving was the wake up call that made this club realise that things needed to change.
