I like Liddle but there do seem to be real issues regarding his durability. Hope he comes good and realises his potential but if he cops another serious injury, hard to see him having a WT future beyond 2020
I don’t get how people question his durability. I mean, ok, his shoulders may be an issue, but we can hardly suggest that the knee injury could have been helped. That was sheer bad luck. The same would have happened to anyone at that moment. Let’s see how things go when he returns. There’s every chance he can recover well and kill it. If not, decisions will be made. He’d know that, there’s plenty of motivation to be 100% right before returning.
He’s not the only one who suffered an injury on the Brookvale surface either…
Some players attract criticism because of their build or durability especially at WTs. Papenhuyzen apparently was too slight and injury prone at WTn yet he is one tough little player. Moses also received criticism so we traded him for a injury prone player from another club in the twilight of his career. Liddle is a fine player and hopefully has more luck with injury when he returns.
Some people tend to forget we had up and coming super STAR who took three years to get his body right then did he go off with a bang one B Marshall
Liddle needs a little more time then watch him go kids got ability determination all he needs now is some good luck.
He’s a good player with plenty of ability, i guess you could compare him to Benji in an injury capacity but Benji was a rare talent which is why we stuck by him. He also won a comp and was winning games almost single handedly in his first real full season ,i will never forget the game we thrashed the sharks on thier own patch. If liddle doesnt step up to the plate next season as this one is basically a write off id let him go especially if they rate Simpkin higher. Maybe he needs a change of scenery some players thrive when they move on look at Tapau he was basically a reserve came to us and went on big time happens often Liddle could be in that boat.
I think its very hard to gauge a player in the 9’s format for regular season footy, but Jennings did look fit and seemed to have a yard of extra pace. Walters looked balanced and had a decent passing game, possible hooker option even a bench option. Be good to see how the boys go tomorrow. Didnt get to see slimes game did Stefano play if so how’d he go?
After the rubbish the Eels pulled with Matterson and now with Stefano i can see us standing our ground even if he requests a release. He’s young and probably impressionable but we have shown he’s wanted and we have a spot in our forst grade team ready and waiting for him. Parra can try and probably will but i wouldnt let any amount of compo change our minds.
I like many others think that we believe Simpkin is the future, but in saying that i dont think we should be looking at stop gap til round 16 (Mbye, JR or both). He’s a talented kid he’s not the messiah exposing him too early could be detrimental or he could rise to another level. This Grant trade benefits us as much as it does the Storm, i hope we can get it across the line but its looking unlikely now.
Mbye killed it at fullback for us when he first joined the club, he was one of the best for those 9 games. Don’t know why he struggled there last year but I rated him at centre, strong in defence, ran hard, good passing and hits holes.
I hope the Grant deal happens so he’s not stuck in another new position at hooker
I doubt he get stuck there now that Reynolds has a green light.
We are in big trouble if JR is our starting no nine, his D/H service is terrible
Is Reynolds the starting 9? Where did you hear that?
Apparently it’s where he’s been training.
Oh, ok, so josh is the replacement if Grant doesn’t make it
I don’t think Grant is a certain starter if he signs.
You would have to think he would be starting after settling in. Otherwise the whole swap deal is a waste of time. Can’t see WT going through that process to run him around with the magpies. He may as well stay in Melbourne and play with their reggies.
Mbye starts at hooker Talau and Leilua in centres and Grant coming off the bench
I wonder where Reynolds fits in.
Canterbury Cup is his level, good injury cover thats it and over priced at that.
Why dont both clubs release its players, and if theres a difference in money say Momo is on $200k HG is on a $100k. We pay HG momo’s salary and storm pay momo HG’s salary. Therefore we backend momo’s deal to include the difference in HG salary. The storm do the same with HG but in reverse he gets paid more this year but less in subsequent years. Obviously we would have to sign Momo beyond this year for this to work but the NRL could do nothing about it.
Yeah, but at some stage I would like the merry go round of positional changes to stop and allow each player to settle in to a permanent position and make it theirs. We seen to have a lot of multi purpose players and few specialists in the backline.
i agree but we are at stage where we have 2 spine members who are not going to be here next year (reynolds and benji) another over paid centre who is a makeshift everything guy (mbye) who goes next year or the year after?
mbye is there no matter what this year with the captaincy
reynolds maybe off the bench but what does that achieve in terms of stopping the merry go round? unless you move mbye to hooker and rotate with reynolds (seems wasteful) but allows talau a centre spot
but then the momo trade was a waste
I believe that Reynolds is sign for this year and next (2021). And Mbye is signed till the end of 2022. At least, that’s what it states on Zero Tackle.
JR deal was ridiculous but the Mbye one isnt far behind it, at least Mbye plays but my god we have some money going to waste.
