Here’s one from league unlimited souths forum… take it with a grain of salt…

Titans playing hardball as you know. They want Murray AND Tom. Gags and Johnston staying. The only one leaving is Douhie to perhaps Tigers old news I know but souths will release for Packer AND Mcqueen.

It is worth noting that Souths have lost FIVE experienced forwards and added NONE if Arrow is not coming this season.

Five is a lot to lose and their squad is badly balanced.

So, there may be some validity***

***Noting that if Packer and McQueen left…together…i may well weep for a moment with joy…

As long as we don’t pay any of their freight…

Tigers backline without any rumored signings:

  1. Thompson
  2. Nofoaluma
  3. Momirovski
  4. Talau
  5. Jennings
  6. Marshall
  7. Brooks
No pace, no fear factor. Only hope is they’re fitter & more familiar with combinations etc.

Now, compared to a few other squads backlines:

Slimey’s

  1. Gutherson
  2. Sivo
  3. Jennings
  4. Blake
  5. Ferguson
  6. Brown
  7. Princess Moses

Cowgirls:

  1. Holmes
  2. Feldt
  3. Fatty Marsters
  4. Opacic
  5. O’Neill
  6. Drinkwater (great advice)
  7. Morgan

Sea Birds:

  1. Trbojevic
  2. Taufua
  3. Parker
  4. Suli
  5. Garrick
  6. Walker
  7. Cherry-Ripe

Could go on but my point is that every team has a strike player in their backs bar the Tigers. Picking up BJ & AD would IMO give us that extra needed punch. I’m hoping management can strike a deal soon because otherwise I’m finding it hard to see where the points are gonna come from.

Exceptionally accurate post imo

I don’t agree, I think Momo and Talau could be an awesome centre pairing.

Momo was a revelation at the back end of the year, and if Benji is to believed, Talau is the most exciting junior in years.

BJ may start his WT career in the centres and end up partnering his brother in the forwards

Everyone else gets rid of their dead wood to ESL except the Tigers…Why not Packer Warrington?.

Geez I wish an ESL team would pick up Packer and JRey

Because our dead wood can’t get visas…

Catalans…no visa issues there

Maybe they figure Packer + croissants would be a bad mix.

Also heard Packer has made it clear he aint budging from his WT deal

Still in shock AD is being talked about in the 500k range. Honestly, how did that even happen at Souths.

Simply put, AD is not a 500k player. He is JUST potential at this moment.

$300-$350 k player

IF we get AD and JL someone from last year is going to miss out.

Will it be up-and-comer Momo? Or big earner Mbye? Thompson or Jennings? Seems like there’s no space for Reynolds either…

This isn’t necessarily my opinion but I wouldn’t be surprised to see Madge go with:

Doueihi
Nofo
Leilua
Mbye (GK)
Jennings

CT and Momo to miss out.

Hopefully commonsense will prevail and Madge will choose Thompson before Jennings. Jennings did nothing last season to hold a place in the starting line up for the beginning of this season, imo. Thompson always gives his best.

Yeah I tend to agree with you. But Madge seems to like Jennings for some reason.

RJ starts our sets off well. The rule change affects CT - Jenko is taller & safer in the air.

Generally agree with a lot you say.

However, you are joking, saying “RJ starts our sets off well” - probably 2 NRL sets in the whole of last year. (unless you are talking cc).

The guy for 2019 was a big fat, unfit nothing, that bludged on the wing every time he played there.

He’ll be better this year. In fact I wouldn’t be surprised to see you out at the game wearing a Robert Jennings tee shirt by years end.

He would want to be 99% better this year (I’ll give him 1% for 2019 for showing up).

Hopefully he won’t get the chance. He is a bludger just like his brother Michael.

That’ll be the day I’d be wearing a Robert Jennings tee shirt.

It hurts just typing his name

If he is our top try scorer in 2020 will you change your user name to Russell Jennings?

He could score 100 tries and I won’t.

The only way he would be our top try scorer is if he has a year like 2018 and falls over the line 18 times.

Could happen (18 tries not 100). He’ll (hopefully) be running off some good players this year.

I know it could - his best attribute is falling down. sometimes there are tries by default. lol

In his defence, although last year was terrible he’s safe under the high ball. I think there’s a good chance he’ll be in the starting 13 come round 1. He has height and you need that on the wing with the new rule changes.

I’m not sure - saw him drop a sitter at Leichhardt last year. Blind Freddie would have caught it.

Momo dropped a few sitters as well but I don’t see you criticising him too often…

That’s because Momo has talent, corrects his errors and builds on it.

The other walks around, does nothing and takes the dough.

Jennings looks like he’s put in plenty of work over the offseason… you’re going to be so filthy if Madge has him in the starting 13 and Momo in CC.

That is what I am expecting Avo - after all “fall over” was his signing, so he will be trying to prove a point that he knew what he was doing.

Feel sorry for Momo - he should be in the centre, will probably get pushed out of there by Mbye.

Yeah you’d think Leilua and Mbye will be our starting centres.

And who would be GK… Mbye…? we can’t blow games in 2020 due to poor goal kicking

Wests Tigers target Joey Leilua after missing out on Latrell Mitchell
dailytelegraph.com.au/sport/nrl/teams/tigers/wests-tigers-target-joey-leilua-after-missing-out-on-latrell-mitchell/news-story/fd3610a32500b45b2cfdc0bbabde7ac5
January 20, 2020
Wests Tigers have made some poor recruitment decisions in recent years. Now they are ready to gamble on one of the NRL’s most volatile players.

But while the anticipated signing of Joey Leilua is another decision that could easily backfire, it also has the makings of a terrific partnership.

That is providing Leilua also agrees to make a change to his game that many have been calling for from him for years.

Leilua is ready to make the move from Canberra to Concord after a meeting with Michael Maguire on Monday.

There is no denying some people around the game are privately wondering how Leilua will fit in with Maguire’s hard-edged coaching style, fearing this could be another deal that ends in tears for the Tigers.

But it’s important to acknowledge it is not Maguire who has to change his ways, it’s Leilua.

At 28, Leilua has been basically forced out of Canberra following Curtis Scott’s arrival from Melbourne and he has no one to blame for that bar himself.

Ricky Stuart gave him plenty of chances over the years but in the end the Raiders said all they needed to say when they went and signed Scott, regardless of the fact Leilua still had a year to run on his contract.

The Tigers have their own concerns given they had previously put an offer on the table but it fell well short of what Leilua was asking for.

But it is now expected a deal could be finalised in the coming days following Monday’s catch up.

The Tigers are becoming increasingly desperate to land a significant signing after missing out on Latrell Mitchell among others this off-season.

It is no use having more than $1 million available in their salary cap for this season if it means finishing out of the top-eight again.

The fact is the Tigers boast the longest finals drought of any NRL club having not made the play offs since Tim Sheens was in charge in 2012.

Israel plots path to UFC superstardom

The last significant spending spree the club went on was before Maguire arrived when Ivan Cleary was in charge and they signed the likes of Russell Packer, Josh Reynolds, Ben Matulino and Chris McQueen, none of which exactly set the world on fire.

But while they have a squad of players that rarely give anything but their best, it can’t be ignored that they just don’t have the strike power to consistently match it with the best rosters.

No one can argue when he is on his game Leilua is as good as any centre in the comp, which is why he can be a great signing for the Tigers.

All he has to do is commit to getting rid of some of the mug tactics that he should have dumped years ago.

It’s really something that’s missing in our teams … lack of a players with mongrel and anger and showing genuine pain at being beaten. Too many nice guys players too afraid to express themselves and dominate on the paddock.
Yes BJ has some problems in his game but mate, he brings what we need in spades. We thought that Packer ant Matulino would bring that aspect to our forwards but unfortunately I have not seen that eventuate.
So from me it’s a big yes … and hopefully if Packer doesn’t get his old game to the table then our forwards need a (BJ) similar wrecking

Musgrove will be our resident nut job/ enforcer …

I think you are right and a rejuvenated Packer could join him. IMO at least for the first half of 2018 Packer was hooking in was intimidating. Was;nt churning out Woods type metres but oppositions were looking for him.

I spoke to J Rey today and he’s mega impressed with Musgrove .
He said his size , strength, aggression … just wow !
They were his words !

I’m hoping Packer returns to form as well !
Oh and a big yes for a BJ lol

Did you ask JRey when he’s off to ESL…
