It wasnt Benjis attack that he was dropped for it was his horrible defence
I dunno, sure he made some poor reads but he also runs people down pretty well. He ain’t as good as brooks but he isn’t chee kam either
I love Benji but his defence was horriffic and thats why every team was running at that side and all of a sudden we have hardly let in a try outside of kicks since he was dropped including against 2 of the better teams.
If that’s true, don’t you reckon that a 6 holding your entire defence together is a problem? A lot of 6’s in the comp get runover no?
He’s a starting player
I’d have no issue with him starting at 6.
Reynolds has been in headless chook mode of late
Last game he was pretty terrible.
9 missed tackles …
And the longer Benji is left out the higher the odds he could go round again
Yep, and really doesn’t add anything in attack. Imo we’re a stronger team with Benji in the 6, although I feel i’m in the minority.
Or a silent majority. Im with you Avo, but Grub has some passionate fans here
Count me in the silent majority . People are going to focus on games where the team lost as a reflection of Benjis performance. Another classic is to single out Benji in a game where the forwards are backpeddling and Benji tries some hail marys…they are low percentage plays but if the others pulled their weight he wouldn’t have to try this stuff. I feel he is still a great player, has a great close to the line kicking game, can be elusive and sets tries up nicely. I’m not going off stats of games won with or without him I’m just saying what I see in the matches.
Drop him? And who would threaten the opposition then?
Nofo Yes, but that’s it. Our current game plan is pass the ball to Nofo or Leilua then watch them pull a hail mary. Lets get real outside of those two and Grant there is no threat in attack and even more to the point no player that makes me want to turn the telly on.
I have always thought he was too similar to Twal to have them both.
Both work…and work…give you 100.
But never physically dominate.
Given Twal is hurt though, would be very happy to see Huth get given that 13 role.
Going forward Twal whilst doing a good job at the moment should not be our 13, we need to find a Murray, Brown, Radley, Yeo, Elliott type player who has some ball skills and hunts around the ruck
He has some aggression in him doesn’t he! How old is he?
Enough. I have nothing personal against anyone in our roster but to say he was good is just showing how bad our roster is. He managed to stay upright during a few tackles, was solid in defence. That’s it. C’mon guys, he never tackle busts, he doenst give regular fast play the balls, he doesn’t lay people on their backs, doesnt have a good pass, doesnt offload and doesnt make big meters.
He played 61 minutes after not playing for 8 months. He made 116m - the only forward better was Aloiai with 135. He made 49 post contact metres, a tackle break, an offload and 40 tackles at 91% efficiency. His play the ball speed was about the same as the rest of the team.
I disagree with you, I consider that a good game.
I haven’t eaten humble pie yet but I definitely have my spoon in hand. Good performance against the doggies.
