I think it’s about time we heard from Lee and other board members showing some solidarity and support of Madge.

What like Madge has the full support of the board? If that happens it’s the beginning of the end for Madge.

It’s not needed or required and I certainly wouldn’t want to hear those words.

If the board gets involved publicly then there is a serious issue beyond the scope of the coach and it’s bye bye Madge.

Ha ha, Mike, I see your point, but there are many other ways board members can publicly display solidarity without using that cliche which means the door is now open. Ha ha.
It’s very important that the players are aware that player management and board are as one. We’ve all seen cases where the players perform badly to influence the boards view of the coaching roster. Some players find the training too hard etc.

The board should not be seen or heard . Honestly do you hear about the roosters board , lately and only very lately we have heard anything from Politis

As for board showing some support , you are overdramatising the situation . Yes bad result and bad season , fixing up a club takes time , getting into the 8 is great but no use if it’s not sutainable .

As much as I hate quoting Phil Gould , as he is mr 20/20 hindsight and mostly full of it he has made good points too and that is

  • it takes. Coach / board to ruin a club with 12-18 months BUT takes. Coach / board 5 years to fix it .
Look at the mess dib/ des created In the end at dogs , 3 years and still trying to get out of it , but that board has a plan and they have not been falling for stupid media pressure for them to fix it, I guarantee dogs will be a force in 2 years .

Now with madge, it’s his 2nd year it takes time , you can see he is building up the young and junior base, trying to install a culture this all takes time. It’s not a quick fix , board has not panicked and madge does not seem to be panicking .

This is why the board “showing support” will have opposite affect and cause more dramas and the same old same old as past 10years will happen at the tigers

Board letting the coach and his staff do their job without interfering …

Equates to STABILITY…the thing this club has craved for years and now are getting it…and the next step is improved culture which we are on our way to…

It’s pretty sad overall on here after tonight’s effort but tigers Twitter is having a complete meltdown. Everyone is done

There all pea hearts then - Where is the Tiger spirit - never give up?

Never say die???

Expect team to have those attributes, but don’t themselves.

Better off without them then.

Wait until we win some and make the finals next year, the team will grow, the younger ones will be another season better off and some deadwood will be gone…

Watch the fans sneak back and into the fold again…👍

If I recall correctly, Brooks was identified by Tim Sheens at an early age as a potential first grader.

If he was on the market now, no doubt he would be in demand from prominent clubs.

I have been privileged to watch Brooks and. Marshall play for WTs. Marshall will always be one of our greatest players.

Each player cannot always be in the best of form. That doesn’t not mean the player should be subject to your offensive remarks.

Mate,I will set you straight now,I have said on many occasions that I have been critical of Brooks over the years,I also backed him 100 percent and said he has been handled by 3/4 different coaches, had to put up with squad changes, had to live in the shadow of Benji and has had reshuffle after reshuffle to contend with, however taking all this in account Brooks should by now have a fair knowledge of the game as a playmaker and in my opinion he is well behind NC atm…Madgesaid the problem with these players is in the head…if thats offensive to you maybe you shouldnt take every thing that is said as insulting and read it how it is percieved…
To clarify …’'between the ears is the same as saying in the head"""it isnt a slur at Brooks it means that he and other players arent grasping what needs to be done …eg Luke not closing out the game,is it in his head he cant do it or does he lack confidence or does he genuinely not have the talent…its comments and questions…its human nature…

A question for all the forum to debate and criticise me for asking, but here goes …

Why is Nathan Cleary so much above Brooks as far as halfbacks go,NC first …Brooks a very long way behind him…when Brooks was touted as the next Joey Johns and Cleary was finding his feet in FG and had similar chances to Brooks, but the difference between the 2 is absolutely astounding…what went wrong with Brooks, has he nothing between the ears or is he just a fly by nighter with a great debut to cling too…???

Do actually support our club? If it is not Brooks you are insulting it is Marshall. In any case, I feel offended for Brooks about what you have written.

Are you offended by Madge saying that the players have a mentality problem and the loss against the Worriors was in their head,??

Its called between the ears …if your offended by my comments then dont read them,I have read far worse on here in regard to other players and people dont give a rats about them,Brooks is in the public eye and will be scrutinised many times …as will other players eg Mybe our captain was called Captain underpants,do you not consider that offensive…? I will leave you with that…

I an offended by what you have written. Please have the decency to remove it.
if it is offensive then the mods can remove it…otherwise it stays …Im quite entitled to an opinion in comparing 2 NRL standard halfbacks,I merely asked what has been the difference between NC and LB as far as where they are in their stages of development NC is way ahead of Brooks atm,and why is Luke on the bench and not doing for us what NC does for Penrith… ?

You know what amazes me about the loss to the Warriors…you all have come on here saying Madge will leave if he is not sacked…
Madge has made bench selections abhorently…
Madge shouldnt give them a spray they are men not kids etc etc etc etc…

What you all forgot is that Toddy Payton knows this club inside and out,Benji,Lawrence etc and he devised a plan for the Warriors to pick their marks and hammer them, hence so many offloads and line running that they havent done before…
Kudos to Toddy he beat us and Madge…
We are to thick between the ears to realise other teams are working out the has beens from the have nots…
I love the WTs but you cant blame Madge for the older players set in their ways we have in this squad…the sooner a cleanout happens the better results will arrive…just my opinion on this game and tear strips off me if you think Im wrong…

The one thing i think our club has missed in its history is taking the woodern spoon. We need it before things will change. Comfortably just outside the 8, is comfortably where we will stay.

Interesting concept and I don’t disagree. It appears that mediocrity has been an acceptable goal for far too long. I can recall a 7 game losing streak but there were no players crying and the world wasn’t coming to an end as past Broncos view their recent situation.
Every so often a live wire is thrown into the arena to please the angry fans. This time it’s Reynolds. Lol.
But fans want more! We want to know that we don’t have to suffer for another 20 years. Gosh, some posters here have stated they are well into their 60’s. We want a GF in the next 3-5 years.
Have the board and coaching staff discussed their goals for the club? If so what are they? What does WT look like in 5 years? How are we going to get there?

The independent board started 5 years ago, I wonder if where we are is what they envisaged. I don’t think they had a plan back then and it’s obvious we don’t have one now .

When good old TT is buried the headstone will read…

Here Lies T.T…
Slowly and cruelly choked and suffocated to death by his beloved WTs…

@Tigerbuck63 said in Why Maguire is standing by Brooks:

Well he maybe the long term Half back solution but currently Madge sees him as a bench player, personally i have had loyalty to Brooks as he was the only 1/4 that committed to staying. He does need to lift his game management maybe watching from the sidelines is giving him an opportunity to better understand.
He has been OK from the bench but i tend to agree with other forum members we don’t need a halfback on the bench in the bigger games.
He is also signed till 2023 (3 years), my thinking is Madge has started with the forwards and got the basis of a good younger squad, next will be the spine.
Will be interesting to see if Benji plays on for 1 more year.

I think Madge is doing whats best for Brooks to step up another level of being a top playmaker,Madge knows what Luke has to do,he is working on his game with him behind the scenes to bring the best out in Luke…Madge is a very good coach and man manager,Luke could not be in better hands to become stronger in his playmaker position…
I have admitted to being a critic of Lukes on many occasions, however in hindsight Luke has had to deal with the internal dramas, coaching changes and squad reshuffling for a number of seasons now…
Madge is honing and assembling a young team and considers Luke a major part of that team, hence I think is why he benched him and helping him to control the managment of the team and his game behind the scenes…
As far as Benji goes, he is a club legend and has been the main face of the WTs for many, many years,if he really does have the loyalty and interest of the club at heart,he will retire after this year and let the younger guys develope as he did when he first came into the fg team…he would definately have plenty of guidance and experience to share with them at training and behind the scenes as well preferably in an assistant coaching role…
