It’s good to hear musgrave is training well but would love to hear a direct quote and not just that he’s training well. The whole stefano article tells us nothing new. Any rugby league fan could of written that.

There have been a lot of conflicting stories and speculation on the outcome of the Mitchell saga. Here’s more which comes from a reliable person who is also a part time psychic .
Mitchell wouldn’t look at the Tigers contract because it was too long. Clubs have previously withdrawn their offers because they have doubts about his intention to have a red hot go. Souths will only offer 12 months because of this reason and are using the sombrero defence. Is it possible LM wants just one last season playing with his mates and walking away with the cash for the farm?

I think we are clutching at straws. He is going to Souths because he wants to win games of footy. In a year, if he plays good footy, he knows that offer will be bumped from 400k. Given the timing of his dismissal, it also ruled out alot of clubs who I think will come back into the mix.

Especially Because he has a young family To look after aswell tigers are the only logical explanation

But he doesn’t care.

He wants to play in the best team he can with players that can make him look good. He wants to play finals, origin etc and he is willing to cop a year of lower pay. He is more than aware he will get the big bucks in future years.

If that were true he would have stayed at roosters?

Not really the case as it was the roosters who pulled the plug on him. He wanted money and a good club obviously, and was apparently in tears when they said no to him. All he wanted to do was explore the market to increase his value and it backfired.

In the situation he’s in , it’s big bucks For a weak club or play for a good club for significantly less (which will lead to big bucks in a year you’d think). And out of those two options He wants Souths.

The guy didn’t even turn up for meetings with us. Let’s not kid ourselves.

Great player but for only 2 years.

Can’t risk paying him for 3-4 years as we really don’t know what he will produce at 33-34 years of age.

looks like mitchell is signing with souths. this means there backline is:

1 mitchell
2 gagai / johnson
3 burns
4 roberts
5 campbell graham

That is still with adam douhey and goodwin in reserves. Easy to assume someone will be let go.

Can’t see him getting a top 30 spot. Not unless others leave.
He’s only played a handful of professional games in either code. He’s been a reserve grader and he’s in his late 20s.
I won’t count him out but we don’t have room unless someone else leaves. But we need players like him in the magpies. Work your bum off son and maybe he could follow in garners footsteps

Agreed. And in the end, he could end up getting a game here or there as a fringe player, but given everything you pointed out, I can’t see him taking to much first grade time.

It is really hard to predict. Assuming we have no more forward signings, for me I am thinking we end up like this:

8 Russell Packer
9 Walters/Reynolds
10 Tommy Mikaele
11 Luciano Leilua
12 Luke Garner
13 Matt Eisenhuth

14 Musgrove
15. Aloiai
16. Twal
17. Chee Kam

Out:
McQueen, Lawrence, Taylor, Clark

With Musgrove, Mikaele, Lucy and Aloiai, we may bend the line a little next year (but still less than most other sides).

We can’t lose when we sign someone on close to a minimum contract. If it doesn’t work out, at least its not eating $$$ away (EG - Taylor, Mbye, Packer, Reynolds x1000).

Have a good feeling about this one.
