Signing quality forwards

Post by BalmainBoysNeverCry » Wed 18 Jul, 2018 4:37 pm

This is obviously our biggest weakness going forward. There is rumours that Payne Haas has signed a big contract with Brisbane. These leaves Tevita Pangai, David Fifita and Su'a most likely on the outer( unless broncos black magic strikes again).
Do we have the cap space for these forwards or should we pursue them considering the departure of a lot of the reggies forwards.

Even with Korbin Sims leaving the Broncos you would envisage that they would lose at least one or two of the other forwards mentioned above given their current roster!!

Problem we have is we aren’t seen as a dream location. Hopefully we throw a few offers out there but broncos will pull so rubbish to keep them all.

We cover the Inner West, one of the most desirable areas in Sydney. Remember that many of these players have wives, partners and girlfriends. A promotion of up market Inner West residences at affordable prices (subsidised?) in Balmain, Leichhardt, Concord or Stanmore can be persuasive in attracting talent, more so than the club.

But the trip to campbelltown once in a while turns them off.

Maybe not if they're returning to an up market terrace or unit close by the favourite café where you can get your double decafe yak lite chai latte and glutten free slice.

We’re zero chance of landing any of the Broncos young forwards. Don’t waste your time. Rhyse Martin could be a goer though.

Canada Bay Council will also be starting to built the Centre of Excellence at Concord. The area is one of the most sought after areas, is close to the city and many facilities. Not sure what you mean by "we are not a dream location"

Players love the attraction of traffic gridlock and properties that cost you as much as you will clear in a ten year contract, and you fight for car spaces or don’t have one.

Best option would be to offer cheap rent in a ghetto apartment complex built by a former major sponsor

I live in the inner west and agree it’s a great area to live for everyone. I was more referring to the club not the location. We are seen as a poor battling club with sub par facilities which makes it hard to attract players.

At the risk of being negative, i'm going to be negative. We are zero chance of TPJ or David Fifita - possibly Su'A but I would say 40% chance a best. Again, name a single player of this calibre at their age that we have signed in our past?
Reality check of being a 19yr Wests Tigers supporter. :|
