A major hole in this theory is what happens to Ivan if Nathan never develops as a 1st grader or had a run of injuries. He’s basically gambled his career away on a 17 year old kid.

I'll pose the same question I posed to Greatodensraven

Why bring it up ........it wasn't going to be an issue ...... he had already been picked to play SOO ..........he was basically an established 1st grader ............................. ??
Ok it was all part of Gus's 5 year plan now entering it's 9th year..
Math is proving an issue , Ivan was sacked 19th of October 2015

Nathan played NRL for Penrith 13 Rounds later Geo in 2016 v Melbourne , they lost 24-6

Coincidence ??

Penrith have an established coach in Griffin who has filled an entire off season with them for 2016 and is someone who is HAND PICKED by Gould as someone who Gould can control and is re-signed in the same year he was terminated FACT

Someone Gould can control HOW Nathan is coached until Nathan is ready to stand unaided ,Griffin admits in his own interview Gus like a lot of say in what happens on field )

And if Nathan fails , Gould blames Griffin and still sacks him after his assistant coach who is now the coach (more coincidence ) alleges he threatened to quit FACT

THIS IS ALL FACTS GEO , we have all seen this happen

So I will ask everyone again the same question I STILL DON"T HAVE A PLAUSIBLE ANSWER TO ............why did Ivan Cleary come out and tell us all after NC has played SOO that he was concerned coaching his son before he was established ????
:brick: Gus is in his 9th year at Penrith...
And that changes my original post how ?? :crazy

Out of all of this fiasco, the only person I’d like to see get a gig and stick it in Gould face is Griffin.

His said it so himself around the time Nathan debuted that he wouldn’t have given him that opportunity so early.

No. I think it is too complicated to exist in the real world. There are too many risks for all concerned to follow that convoluted path.
I simply think Ivan's comment was about him avoiding controversy about nepotism.

Not sure , I'll check with the other voices

Throw in the fact one week before , Gus is telling all and sundry that if Nathan wants to leave he can

Again , nothing personal , if people can't see that we have all been played by the Cleary's and Gus I can't help them

The timing is interesting (Ivan "sacked", Nathan makes debut the following year).

But don't forget that Penrith had a shocker in Ivan's last year after they'd finished top 4 the season before and looked like real premiership contenders.

Agreed.

Either Nathan develops as a legit 1st grader, or he doesn't. It doesn't really have anything to do with his Dad. Sure his Dad could give him more scope at a club, but ultimately if they don't cut it, they don't cut it. Fans won't cop sons being picked who can't do the job, so there's a finite level of protection Ivan can provide as head coach. On the other hand, if the kid is any good, nobody cares about familial ties.

So for me, whatever Ivan does is independent of whether or not Nathan becomes a consistent first grader. Therefore I cannot imagine Ivan intentionally modifies his career trajectory as a backup for a potential faltering in Nathan's career.

I’m not targeting anyone, don’t have no issues with him. I’m repeating what he stated as he sounded like he had some insider information.

He doesn't, so please stop sounding one another out and making this personal. I'd rather not close threads but in the Ivan Cleary thread I was left with no choice as people continually fail to heed advice and requests to keep things civil and on point.
