It's all about numbers Russ. How much/long would you sign him for?
Not sure what he is on at the moment Avo - probably about 250 - 350 - I think he would be happy to stay if he knew he was wanted after Farah retires.

Depending on how he performs on the last year of his contract, he could get a good upgrade. Indecision causes a lot of players to leave when they really don't want to.

This kid can play - needs to improve his kicking game (surely Farah can help him there) and he will have it all.
Let's say, hypothetically, the Bulldogs offer him 4 years @ 500k per season. Do you let him walk?
If they offer that to him now and he wants the club to counter with something similar right now then yes, you let him walk. I don't think the Bulldogs would come in with that kind of offer at this point in time though. He's not got the runs on the board to command that sort of money.
I agree, worth retaining for a low price but not worth throwing big money at.

It must shake a young player's faith a fair bit to be frequently injured early in their career. He wasn't as good this year in his NRL appearances as previous but I wonder if he was a little more reserved out of fear of being injured again.

He has plenty of promise, but how long do you wait? We can ill afford to let another spine player take 5 years to mature.

Same thing happened to a young Benji Marshal.

If he is the man for the club then we will support him.

It will be a black day for me if they let Liddle go.

He is just at the point of a break out year, current hooker has 2019 left only - no brainer to me.

Still say Cook is a one trick pony - speed from DH and that is it. Not a great defender, average kicking game and for 4 million I would want a lot better DH than him.

Don't get the negatives for Liddle. He is young, at least same size as Farah, has his shoulders fixed, will have his first full pre-season under his belt, holds club record for most tackles in a game, half the cost of Cook at least etc. etc.

Keep him Madge or you will probably regret it.
Well said Russ. My feelings too. It's a lot of money for Cook and he is easily shut down as was shown in the finals if you slow the play the balls down. I think in one of those finals Cook had an absolute howler didn't he?
I agree with all these comments, fancy Russ and myself being on the same page, love it. What are the medical specialists saying, they must be positive or I guess Jacob would not have been playing last season. I prefer we keep Jacob and we are most fortunate to have legend back up. I have not witnessed Jacob have howlers like Cook but I think Cook's defence has come good. Either one at the right price - but loyalty should also come into it, ignore loyalty and it comes back to bit you.

Someone had to say it.

He is no Cameron Smith, he is no young Robbie Farah.

Great attacking player but he is a momentum player and if his team has no momentum he is not a play making hooker that can steer you around or get you out of trouble.
That's why I am going to miss the Old Man when he goes - he had a few classic games for the Bunnies. But Liddle can still get there I think. Can he wear tons of protection like in the old days? Even if they re-invent armour for him!

Yes.

Sadly I have had my elbow busted recently. It has absolutely ruined my arm movement. I have no idea how busted Liddle is.

But if the Bulldogs pay $500K for a hooker that is not there every game I say let them have Liddle. (they won't after signing Napa). We need consistency in the spine and if Liddle is going to ask big dollars then I would go a player that will always be there then a player that occasionally shows brilliance.

Kid has potential but his body lets him down. Around this time last year I said we would make the finals in 2018 if Brooks short kicking game improved(which it did) and if Liddle can stay on the park(which he didn't).

I would like to see him string some games together next year as we only have Farah for one more season.

Number 9 role is far to important to take big gambles on

1st Injury free pre-season ever for Liddle, he knows where he stands with the club & knows that 2019 is a big year for him in his career. Will be given every chance to prove his ability & worth. Plus he's the type of kid that given any contract he'll sign to return the faith shown.

Expecting big things from him in 2019.

He has big raps at the club both for his on field & off field attitude & work. If he can shine through in pre-season he's every chance of getting an offer after 1st few rounds. Has come back looking fit & motivated & confident. Came 2nd in the time trial day one.

Good to hear. I met him once and chatted for about 10 mins. Now i know you don't find out too much about someone in that time, but he came across as an outstanding young man.

Not sure but my money is on Brooks winning the time trial..

I agree about cook. He's too one dimensional for that cost. Stick with liddle. If he doesn't fire this year he never will.

I would like to think Liddle will come good, but do we wait, if we do we may miss out on a replacement, it is a gamble either way, lets hope we choose right
