Koro impact player

Post by galea#11 » Sun 30 Jun, 2013 9:26 am

Koro is a unique athlete the nrl is proving a safe winger is better then a koro style winger . Imagine working on koros defence and carrying 3 forwards on Bench
And koro . Teach him to come on in 15 min spells and run off benji hit holes . Try and defend him when other team under pump he would kill it and he can cover a lot of positions .

Despite how well Simona has been going, I think Koro has it over him in attack, but Simona's defence and safe hands far outweigh Koro's raw pace. Plus Simona's no slouch either. The pushing for position in our backline is bringing out the best in our young wingers blokes.

I am actually all for it, this guy hitting gaps would be a gamewinner with his speed he won't be stopped. Our backline must be:

Could work, but his defence has already improved so not quite so important. But we definitely have to stop using him as a prop, im often worried he'll be injured because he runs so hard, is so big and has no self-preservation.

Just keep using him as a winger, and ONLY a winger and you'll see him doing what you're saying but we get an extra bench spot.

I mean, it would definitely work, him tearing down the side line or through some broken play but I don't know if it's worth it since his defence has gotten better.

The wing position is a lot more critical then before . The amount of kicks and pressure decisions made . Think beau Ryan is best eg. He isn't best athlete but very safe . Koro has a great highlights reel but can make more mistakes . Well nofo is not moving and think Simona is doing a great job good mix of speed and safe hands . Just used right koro would b an even more handful . Tigers are lucky they get to make these decisions

Hard to leave a guy with so much raw speed and aggression out.
He was everybody's favourite (even allowing for his rookie mistakes) until he got hurt - and now he's on the scrapheap?
Personally think he is good for the team - his barnstorming runs lift his teammates.
Koro and Nofu on the wings and Simona to fullback for mine.
Tedesco seems to struggle every game with niggling injuries and , even with all the hype , has not delivered the goods like these three .
Maybe a few runs against easier opposition would help him both physically and mentally.

I really don't understand the criticism of Tedesco. The only real issue he has is chiming into the backline in attack. This will come with experience and will be part of his development. Billy Slater had the same issues when he first came into the top grade.

For me the easiest solution is playing Simona in the centres which means either Ayshford or Lawrence dropped. It won't happen but that's the way it should go.

Simona is far better defensively and far better under the high ball

Koroibete is better working it out of our half and is quicker

on that basis Simona wins ,we need confidence in our defence it is our problem area

Is hard to know what to do with Koro, he's an incredible athlete with raw power and speed.

Yet, That's something Simona doesn't lack in either. The utility idea is a good one, could be very effective. Teams would struggle to prepare for Koro being used in this role.

His solo effort against the Panthers, and the two last night, would suggest otherwise. Simona has scored/set up three of the most amazing tries I've seen from the Tigers in recent years the last few weeks.

I feel confident with Simona in the backline. I shudder every time Koro brings it back. He's good for one drop ball in our 20, one stuff up in the air, and one try down his wing a game. Needs a few weeks in State Cup to work on the finer details of a first grade winger. It ain't all power and strength, there's much more to it.

Koro was rushed into grade cos we had issues . If our backs can do the job now we can take time and work on koro as a player . Imagine a season of a roaming role just getting more experience . We rush kids in to fast and expect so much . Less pressure running off bench and once he is a seasoned player put him wherever he belongs .

We are in a very good position with these young guys, but i like Simona on the wing TBH. Koro is something special & will play heaps of First Grade. Remember theses young guys have only played a few First Grade game & will only get better.

Disagree. He's a first strike winger who will continue to improve. He's only been playing league for a few years and is still learning. Once he fixes his defence, he'll be rep standard IMO.

Im with you mate. Nofo is far more polished but Koro has the potential to be a superstar. He will get better. He wont get better playing a bit part role or reggies (where the kicking games are very ordinary and rarely put pressure on wingers).

Hard decision to make next year when as well as those 2 we will have Richards and possible Taqele pushing for positions. At this stage I cant see how Nofoaluma and Simona can be let out. Maybe them in the centres and Koro + Richards on the wings? Then Lawrence in the forwards. But then there's Ayshford....he's been good lately.

CK always criticises Tedesco he takes every opportunity to make a negative comment about Tedesco because he is a friend of Moltzen and is delusional in his belief that Moltzen is a first grader.
Koro and Noffa are both very young as is Tedesco and our long term back 3 will be Teddy Koro and Noffa.... they are specialists in their positions and will only improve with their first full season playing 1st grade.

Reddy and Simona have been our best centres this year. Simona has been up in 1st grade for a while and is starting to find some form. Lawrence and Ayshford shouldn't t be guaranteed the starting centre positions each week.

Good read, like the idea of Simona at fullback . Played a few games there last year.
