Is Moses

Post by Tigerheart_returns » Sat 13 Jun, 2015 9:54 pm

a better "tactical" kicker than Brooks? I know Brooks is the one that is (probably) charged with putting up the high kicks but he does overshoot the mark somewhat regularly, when kicking in general play whereas from what I saw, at least last night, Moses just looks more composed?

Moses tactical kicking game is very hit or miss and probably more miss than hit. Brooks is not much better, but with both of them its not lack of ability rather lack of experience,so I expect good things from their boot in the near future

Well Moses kicked 12 for 346m and Brooks 8 for 261m last night,,,if that means anything...

Interestingly Moses had 59 touches of the football compared to Brooks 39 the 1st time that has happened this season

Brooks has shown he has a very good short kicking game at times. He's a better kicker than he has shown so far this year. I feel his confidence has been down a little this year, which is understandable given how last year ended and the number of losses this year so far. When he scored that long range individual try, I could almost feel a few weeks worth of frustration and pressure lifted from his shoulders.

On another note, it was good to see Pat take the punt kick when we were pinned on the 25m line on the last. It was taken around the 15m line by Souths. A few people have called for it in the past. We might see it more in similar situations in coming games. Good experience by Pat to inject himself there when the team was struggling.

That was a great move by Pat. We really played well as a team utilizing everyone's strengths to a tee.

Yea I agree - I can see Taylors thinking with the kicking game - its almost like he is copying NFL to get longer hang times allowing our defensive line to get set rather than actually trying to pin the FB down on his own line.
Moses attacking game was a step up on what it has been recently - some nice runs, good passing game. But his defence is still a worry - too much attempted arm grabbing and he just falls off. He just needs to learn he only has to hold the man and slow him down and let the backrower hit him.

Both halves need to do "extras" on their kicking and defence.

Moses in juniors was always the better attacking kicker, he is still not in the class of Robbie yet however.

Maybe they both should take a leaf out of Adam Reyonlds book... He was out practicing his kicking Friday nights warm up at least 20 minutes before the team came out to warm up... So dedicated and its paid off for him

Ah but they don't give full-season stats right, just individual games?

I am assuming there is too much money in selling these stats, hence why they don't make full-season data readily available. nrl.com used to be quite good, but they have substantially cut down the player-specific stats that they publish.
