Giving Up Home Games

Post by diedpretty » Sat 21 Apr, 2018 9:09 pm

Just wondering about peoples thoughts on giving up this home game to play at Tamworth - I'm over the makes us money and promotes the game rubbish - thats a furphy - we should be focusing on winning games and we are a better chance of doing so playing in front of a home crowd. Todays game would have been played at Campbelltown following a Wests ISP game - maybe we should be promoting the games in our heartlands of inner city and south west instead of taking games to NZ and NSW country.

The NZ one was weird but no problem with promoting the game in regional areas especially if we dedicate a few years to build a fan base and make it a home game.

I think the NZ should have gone to either Campbelltown or Leichhardt but the club feels they have to been even between those two.

I think that if we played the knights game at Leichhardt we would have extra two points in our bag.

Definitely would have - this was a Campbelltown home game however - the NZ game was Leichhardt game. Its become a real farce - our home games are spread over 5 grounds this year.

As much as it gives us a warm n fuzzy to take the game to the country I don't see the point. For us, home games should be home games. Let the wealthy clubs start with a handicap. We need to build a base in our heartland

Leichhardt Is our winning ground ..... Campbeltown we just can’t buy a win at!

I know it’s hard to plan ahead ..... bit Particularly when we have started a season so well we could fill Leichhardt and Campbeltown so the money should not be an issue.

Fair enough if all teams are required to take a home game to a regional town but to voluntarily give away two home games is just dumb, particularly as the away teams were closer to home than us.

As said in live game thread I'm all for regional football , but we have to pick a region where we will have clear home ground advantage with the fans

That penalty count is reversed at Leichhardt or Campbelltown , makes a massive difference in the overall scheme of things

Something I saw when the teams came to Gladstone it was very obvious that either team had any true understanding of the Marley Ground field itself , hard surface , almost impossible to stop a ball in goal , especially the League's club end , and wind plays a huge part all the time , field slopes away at the Bunnings corner / pig pen

Does the ground suit the footy you want to play ??

Scully Parks in goals were shallow and seemed a hard track as many country grounds are , in a sense with the type of footy we want to play with repeats sets (no 1 in the NRL ) and building pressure it didn't suit us .....

I can understand taking a game to Tamworth but not to NZ. Having said that, if that game tonight was played as the first Leichhardt game of the year, it would have sold out to and possibly with different result.

You're a crap team if you need the venue to get you a win. How'd round 26 in 2016 go at LO?

Its a good thing up to a point but 2 games in a month is too much charity and we paid.
