A 20 point lead demoralises the opposition and forces them to score at least 4 tries to come back. A really clinical side would also have been considering setting up a field goal at that time to close out the game, so I can't see any way to dice it other than two poor decisions not to take the penalty shots.

We got away with it. Let's hope the lesson is learned. Dropping that lead would have been a pretty crushing way to start 2016.
