Reading our own press

Post by hammertime » Sat 21 Apr, 2018 8:07 pm

I got worried this week. We had the types of articles that used to come out about the Tigers, particular players talking about representative honours. How we've been on a role. It was the first game that we were favourite.

As cleary said, sometimes success is harder to manage sometimes.

Have we been reading our own press? Did we complacent? It sure seemed like that to me.

Brooks going to ground with that ball was the right option.
You know, I know and he knows he would have kicked it dead if he tried the grubber.

Grow up

Yeah i was happy with his choice to take the tackle.

Crap penalty to SKD.

Knights played up the guts and exploited our up and in defence. It was bound to happen eventually.

We lost it in the first half.

Two good points. Brooks going to ground on the last wasn't the reason we lost the game and the penalty was a bit of gamesmanship by SKD as he clearly didn't get to his feet properly before kicking the ball forward. We also allowed the Knights forwards to roll effortlessly forward afterwards, a recurring problem for us and one that, in reality, cost us the game.

I wish Brooks had put the ball over the sideline. Yes Knights have a set start but at least we would have had the shot clock's time to reset ourselves and have a breather.

We lost the wrestle tonight and they dominated the ruck. Our go forward was pretty poor as well. Mats tried hard and Nofo did some dirty stuff but we couldn’t get a roll on.

Honestly no I don't think the side are ahead of themselves. You just can't keep up the intensity we've had for every game in 24 rounds, just not possible.

Winning 5/6 is terrific; dropping a game by 2 pts and not playing well is inevitable... the upside is we only lost by 2 and were in the game the whole 80. What we really don't want is any blowouts, that will be the making of our season if we are in 100% of games for 80 mins and win more than half.

Common sense has no place around here. Don't you know that?
