Rumour on LU that ET as been asked to look elsewhere from Maguire as he wants a bigger player at lock
Hallelujah if true! Big aggressive locks are the thing now and most clubs have one, but it's where we've been lacking. The days of small, tackling machine Alan Tongue type locks are over.
Big aggressive locks giv e me a break. None of them could compete with Ron Coote, John Raper, Jim Leis, Wayne Pearch or Bing Pringle. This is what is wrong with rugby league, we have prop forwards masquerading as locks because of the rule changes and interchange laws. Reduce the interchange to 4 and we will see the return of the very mobile, high work rate running lock forwards.
That's exactly the point, they are a thing of the past. Like it or not times have changed, the game has changed.

Taumalolo would kill it in any era as a lock

Now we just have to clone him and wait around 22 years

Tongue was a reserve grader although a good clubman. Brad Clyde was a great lock until the Raiders turned him into a robot. Ron Coote and co would cover from sideline to sideline and make the covering tackles on runaway wingers. THis was always one of the great joys of rugby league, watching the emergence of forwards who were skilful, tall, fast, lean and with great endurance who would play unchanged for 80 minutes in era where you had to be tough.

Jimmy Leis cam from Dubbo to play for the Maggies and Australia. He was your typical tough bush forward and the type of player the NRL misses badly.

I don't think he's very rated at all....

Only at giving more stupid penalties away.I would even stick with McQueen rather than have Gubb and that is really saying something

Didn't he just leave the Raiders at the end of the season to join the ESL .. ?? Maybe that didn't work out for him .. ?? Picked up a pretty bad groin injury last season whislt playing for the Raiders. Not sure if that hasn't fully healed or is causing him any field time in the ESL .. ?? Apparently his mrs' isnt a bad player in the ladies ranks .. !!

But that's a no thanks .. for me.

Hopefully ET is nowhere near our top 17.
He's well and truly past it, provides zero
I kinda agree with you but you should show a bit more respect. He pretty much instigated the change in the Tiger's culture.

Another one of the top blokes - we have a heap of them, but we need more than just nice guys of average ability on the field if we’re ever going to improve.

Love him or hate him, Smith is the most durable player in the history of the game.

Gotta feel sorry for Cam King.
Was pretty much begging for a contract but no one appeared to want him.

Cam Smith - setting records for the biggest cheater of all time.

I spoke to a mate of Nathan Brown’s not too long ago. He said that Brown had said that all the players liked him, but didn’t rate him as a player.
