Keen to see what everyone thinks...If he goes, we would he paying a large amount of his salary and would have to replace him with someone better on minimum salary to justify it.

Do we keep him at 5/8 with Brooks playing decently having him there or do we let him go?

Major problem keeping him is we probably lose Doueihi...

I voted no but I think the following points should be noted:-

1. There is no point getting rid of him until his contract runs out unless we get a significant load off our cap. We can use him in the squad. He is a first grade quality player but not a good one.
2. We should definitely not renew his contract.
3. Doueihi will not leave if we keep Mbye. Doueihi will stay and play where it's best for the team.

It’s a good question. There is no doubt that Brooks has played better with Mbye at 6, not sure Doueihi would leave, he still has some years left on his contract and I don’t think we would give Mbye an extension on current money, so he would probably get better offers and Adam would see the end line.

Where do we play Hastings though?

The questions should be, "Do we keep him for the rest of this year?" or
"Do we keep him for the rest of this year and 2022?"

I said yes, however only for this year. If we can flog him off for next year -
then that would be the best scenario in my opinion. Don't care how much
we pay to off load him for 2022.

Poorly composed poll. Do we keep him for this year? Do we keep him for 2022? Do we keep him post 2022? Also the add on that "of course we lose Doueihi" isnt accurate and also colours the poll.

For mine if we could keep him on reasonable money it would be ideal. I would like to keep him on around $400K.

I think people need to forget his price tag for a second.

Even if he plays elsewhere in 2022, we will be liable for at least 50% of his income.

The question is, is he giving us 350-400K of value and I think he is. I still see him as a big leader in the huddles and he is finally able to play his best position IMO.

I think at $350-$400k Mbye is a really handy player to have on the books. For next year, it depends on how much another team would pick up. I'd rather pay $800k for him to play for us than $500k for him to play against us. And let's be honest, the chances of us signing a superstar for next year is pretty slim.

Yep, Madge has got him firing finally.

I'm torn at this point. plays in his natural position and is doing very well, but Doueihi should eventually move into the role full time and long term on a cheaper wage. my gut feel says keep.

With Hastings coming on board and Madden with another year and pre season we will have more than enough playmakers. If we can get away with only carrying half his contract the other half could be allocated to a FG quality winger or used to upgrade a couple of the younger players.

Very interesting question because we do not know the inner workings of the club and what they have in mind.
I would say let him go if he can get a good deal elsewhere because he won't get such a deal out of WT'S again we were desperate at the time.Let him go if we only have to chip in a small portion of his contract.Let him go if there is someone better to come that can contribute to the long term success of the club.
With the success our juniors have been having this year and more than likely more coming in years to come the juggling of the roster is going to be a mamath job and with the reggies going well other clubs will be ready to swoop.
All I can say is good luck because which ever way they go will certainly generate numerous thread pages on this forum😂😂😂

Yes.
Also re-sign Packer for 4 more years and bring back Jennings and McIntyre.

The amount I would pay for him to play somewhere else next year has gone down in the last few weeks from $400k to 250k.
Doueihi is probably still going back to 5/8 at some point and being at right centre is a good place for him to learn more about varying his play and knowing when to give early ball, run or kick.
I don't think anything is set in stone yet. We may reach the finals with Mbye at 5/8 and Madge would have to look at keeping him there. Hastings may be too good and force his way in, he may be terrible and play reserves or may bulk up and play 2nd row or lock.

Respectfully Disagree,

Price Tag is VITAL as it is the value for money and the flow on impact to the squad.

**The Top Paid MUST be the TOP Performers.**

IMO price tag matters a hell of a lot in regards to squad make up and development, it doesnt matter at all wrt team selection and performance.

Definitely keep him for the remainder of this year. As to next year? If we need to pay upwards of $400 to move him on, then that is a problem in my opinion. If we only have to put in $300K to part ways, then that would probably be a good outcome.

Do we have a choice..

Suitors seemed to have dried up...any offers in no way favourable to Wests Tigers ..a lot to weigh up ..

I agree but with an eye on him for the rest of the season. If Brookes, Mbye and Douhei are gelling pretty well it's a win-win situation.
If it's working I'd rather us improve our stocks in centre and wing.
If it isn't working and that should be known within the next 5-6 weeks, off to the knackery it is.
