Luke Brooks #167

From the elation at L.O . just 3 weeks ago to now the absolute pits !
It takes some special talent from our brainstrust to pull that off
What I really liked 3 weeks ago is the team looked happy and harmonious
Foolishly felt a bit of optimism
So we let Joe go , we tell a few others to go and put in error riddled really poor performances since and team looks an unhappy bunch again
Don't know who fingers are all over this. Justin or Scott or Tim
Benji is being set up with a hospital pass
Smells a bit like Ricky’s overhead projector fiasco

Brooks is just a money Grub. Never been loyal to anything but cash
The club has been a basket case for his entire time in first grade. Do you blame him?

Listening to that stupid ask the boss podcast when Lee was on it - the guy is an absolute wanker. They’ve made poor decision after poor decision, stumble arse backwards in to a bit of form, but as long as they are around the club will go nowhere.

There is no need for a CEO to have a podcast, especially when the club is underperforming. He (and the chairman) has no ability to know what’s appropriate.

Anyways, I saw this coming.

Offering him a rumoured $550 a year is an insult. The Raiders supposedly offered Wighton $1.1M per year, and he isn't much, if any better than Brooks. I suspect the Tigers will up their offer and he will stay, or they don't want him and we can look forward to a new halves pairing in 2024. I'd prefer to keep Brooks at 5/8 and find a decent half, easier than finding two decent halves. Hopefully Fulton has a solution, though unlikely the club has a plan B.
Agree pretty much with everything you are saying and in relation to what you have said about Jack Wighton, I have often said, "don't kick the ball, just run," and more often than not I think similarly with Luke Brooks.

We could do a lot worse than keep Luke Brooks as a running 5/8 and find some sort of controlling half with a reasonable kicking game to compliment him, not saying that he should never kick again because in the past he has had a servicable kicking game, it's just than running is his greatest strength.

As you have said, much easier than trying to find 2 halves, in the short term at least.

Don't really know about Fulton, as far as I am concerned, the jury is still out, I really hope he comes up with some solutions and doesn't create more dramas that this club definitely doesn't need.

I feel that with some of the meddling by management and or the board, we are not that far off imploding and destroying what little gains we have been able to make.

Honestly most people know his contract over 3 years was 750 average a year.. the guy falls to bits under pressure and hasn’t delivered constantly except one year… 250k less is actually what he’s worth let’s see who pays more…
That could very well be us.

Knowing the way this place rolls, they'll probably shit their pants and offer Luke a motza to stay.

What plan B ? We tried to get Munster ,them Moses then Pearce then oh well let's resign Brooks .No one who is anybody in the list of half's wants to go to Concord .Maybe a couple 18 yr olds from our pathways LOL
I wonder if Parra with all their problems eg Dylan Brown might pair Moses and Brooks
They've got the player manager that could cause the Parra-sites enough grief to make that happen.

1. Interesting that Brooks rang Benji not TS about rejecting the initial offer and,
2. If there is no counter offer from us I can see him sitting out more than injury recovery time.
3. Is TS going or staying? And did the board use the Fulton/ McDonnell scenario to force Tim out, given the McD appointment was part of the deal when Sheens came back ?
4. Who are those in the club suggesting Brooks should be allowed to walk ? The board, the coaches ??
More Tigers in fighting, why does this keep happening ? It’s being going on one way or another forever.

We are a basket case. Can’t sign anyone or keep anyone where there is interest.

Apparently this now is in Fultons hands. Teflon Tim strikes again
Maybe Tim has quick passed it to Fulton given what they did to his mate.
Probably said “ you’re the new recruitment guru, you sort it out”.
It sounds like Tim has suddenly lost interest so fascinating to see if previous speculation about Benji taking over pre 2025 is correct.

Can’t agree with that C. Whilst I’m not his biggest fan I think the fact that he’s been with us 10 years says something.
And remember he was the only one of the big 4 to commit years ago and if he was offered/ accepted his current deal is that his fault.
As he gets older, and with a new family, he’s going to be thinking dollars but I’ve got a sneaky suspicion the bidding hasn’t closed yet and he may remain a Tiger after all.
Let’s see !
